Having FOMO? It’s okay. It’s also okay to take a mental break from destiny when you need it. Please be mindful of your self care, and put yourself first when necessary. :)

Edited by VEXTERMINATOR-btd203: 3/11/2022 11:19:40 AMI took a break for almost 2 years. The whole "fear of missing out" thing is one of the reasons I got burned out and left. Edit: Whenever I do start feeling the fear of missing out, I remind myself that everything I'm grinding for is going to be rendered obsolete or nerfed into the ground. Looking at all my pinnacle weapons from time to time is a good reminder.

To quote a good friend: "It's not that serious." Don't forget to chill out and enjoy the game.
-
I did exactly that 10 days ago deleted all 3 characters and vault. Played since Dec 2014 I am done. To many changes I do not agree with.

1 ReplyThis post deserves lots of eyes, good job.

2 RepliesLately it seems people's FOMO in Destiny 2 is that they are missing out on Elden Ring because they bought Witch Queen instead.
-
Agree. it’s better to play a game when you actually enjoy the content or have ppl to play with rather than feel forced to play out of fomo or have nobody to play with you.
-
Haha! Secret Elden Ring post.
-
2 RepliesYou mean to tell me people can get a grip on their life?! Whaaaaa? 🤯
-
Dude what? It's not okay! It's 2022, put the book away and stop playing outside. Get with the time.
-
Started the season strong, but a friend bought me elden ring and I cant put it down. I want to play Destiny, but elden ring is just too good.

2 RepliesThere is no FOMO anymore. Same content is playable at varying difficulty (campaign at legend, well at master, vox at master etc) when your power is capped or champions are thrown with locked equipment against burn and shields. Grinding to level up gives no meaningful purpose against difficult content anymore as playstyle is limited by dumb enemy modifiers rather than clever gameplay. PvP is a joke as usual. Raid is good but 98% of people don't raid so whatever. Re-skinned glowing hive looks old already. Drip feed story line as usual. Same weekly grind for random drops. Not sure what you will miss from this list.

Best decision I made was switching to free play. Mental fatigue is real and this game knows how to harness that!

Edited by GisL: 3/11/2022 7:38:28 PMI'm doing already, and convinced my friends to do the same, there's no point anymore... The new campaign is nice but everything else is pretty much the same for years, the "new" legendary guns is recycled guns from vanilla, they just change the names and some skins to look "new", weapon crafting is limited and grindy, matchmaking still poop, menus and inventories still tooking forever to load since the 30th anniversary, still no text chat on consoles, no reward activities(on purpose to extend playtime), seasonal stuff horde mode all over again, no new maps and modes on PvP, no dedicated server, list goes on... Bungie just put some recycled "content" here and there and people are ok with that, they're literally running this game for the no life streamers at this point. Me and my friends are scheduling to do some rp on GTA online, or play Elden ring, which we're actually enjoying it. For some that still in the game, well... Good luck, go grind your god roll that bungie will nerf or sunset eventually.

I just came back from a year and a half break and it was nice lol

1 ReplyI told myself this after the first Cyberpunk review and am about to tell myself this again after the disappointment that is the witch queen. This is looking like a grab the exotics and split season.
-
4 RepliesYour post was so harmless and made good suggestions for those needing to take a step back from Destiny … And it got hijacked by some keyboard warrior. Unfortunate.
-
Well said. 🙌

I've had 6 to 12 month long breaks from Destiny a few times now. Not once did I miss anything important while I was away. Though that probably just means I should stop coming back or seek addiction help but I enjoy the game enough in small doses that I can't stop.
-
4 RepliesMy only FOMO is the raid since my clan has pretty much moved on
-
It's okay to not play a lame game at all. Used to play this everyday. Yes, you are correct. It's okay not to play it at all. Missing out?...Nah! I'm not missing anything at all. I haven't been on D2 for years, been having fun playing other games, and I'm already 1350 on my character here! Lmao! I'm leveling up while I sleep! Lmao! And I'm playing other games while doing it! Hahahahaha!!!

3 RepliesAs a person who has bipolar and anger problems along with parents who won't and can't get me therapy, destiny 2 (and other games) give me the opportunity to express myself and be who i am right now and make friends, putting me in this position i am in right now because i am mostly avoided in real life because of my paranoia, but here, i can easily be happy. I thank all of the Destiny 2 community same for my friends who help me through these rough times.
-
Good advice, I don't plan on doing the raid at all and I have zero confidence I could clear master vox, going to play something else for a bit.
-
2 RepliesThe only thing I'm feeling FOMO about this DLC/season is that Psionic Strangler boots ornament. Those are some nice Titan boots.
-
How will I get more Twitch views if I take a break?
-
4 RepliesElden Ring; hold my sleep.

1 ReplyI have FOMO alright…
Fear Of Missing Oryx
