I played consecutive matches even before you guys nerfed the reputation gains and it took me about 100 runs. There is honestly no excuse for that. You shouldn't have to do any activity 100 times. Honestly it feels like you guys were just being blatantly lazy. The activity was fun for about 10 run and then it became what feels like a filler that you guys put in to kill time. I appreciate new content, but take it easy with the repetitive grind requirements. 80-100 times is -blam!- absurd. I actually felt like I was being tortured. At one point I just sat there moving my sticks so I didn't get kicked. I couldn't take playing it anymore.
I played consecutive matches even before you guys nerfed the reputation gains and it took me about 100 runs.
The rep bonus for consecutive clears in DoE have not been nerfed, they are simply not functioning properly at the moment, as evidenced by the Known Issues section of the most recent TWAB:
KNOWN ISSUES While we continue investigating various known issues, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum: • When first spawning into an area or activity, Hand Cannons sometimes don’t have ammo. • The Dares of Eternity’s game streak now gives a maximum of 125 points per completion.
Once they figure out a fix for what went wrong, the rep gains for consecutive clears should revert to their previous values. (΄◉◞౪◟◉`)

24 RepliesEdited by Odd Ball M4AE4: 1/22/2022 6:45:45 AMFriendly reminder: Dares is NOT being sunset anytime soon. Do not rush it. It's exhausting if you try to do it all in one sitting. Put on a podcast, some music (yes, I know it's asinine to have to do that t tolerate anything in this game, blah, blah, blah), get that 5x streak for a couple rounds, then do something else.

2 RepliesI’m still at rank 9 and whenever I force myself to do one or two DoE runs, I’m getting the overwhelming desire to do anything but another round. It’s fun for the first few times, funny announcing an so on, but once the newness wears off it’s really not all that interesting. There was no need to put the catalyst behind that much mindless grind.

Agreed. Bungie's version of "grind" is terrible. I've been doing a lot of similar grind on other games. FF14 there are some rare mounts you can get from certain endgame 8-man boss fights. The drop rate is only about 5% though, and only one person in the party can get it (though they can't get it again if they already have it). But even if you're just unlucky, you still get a "Totem" for each completion, and after getting 99 totems you can buy the mount from a vendor. The difference between D2 and FF14 in this is that the mount is purely cosmetic, basically bragging rights and nothing else. And almost every other form of grind in that game has alternative means to complete each one, so you don't feel stuck doing something that you don't want to do. The fights themselves aren't something you can just AFK either, so everyone has to be actively participating, or you'll wipe. So it gives the entire group a sense of purpose. One thing that helps keep my sanity as I try to get 2 of each mount (my account and my wife's account) is that I just pace myself. I might do like 5-10 runs a week, and that's it. If the mount drops then I just hope that I'll win the roll. Oh well if I don't. Switching classes also kinda helps, because then I can see how well I can use other classes in higher-end content. Try changing things up a bit. Switch builds, go melee-only, use the Favor to work on Heavy Weapon catalysts, etc. Turning off the audio helps too, and just putting in a show on your phone or some music. Seriously, I can't stand the dialogue or the retro slot-machine noises. They are the worst part of that whole ordeal...

Just know its worth it, once you reset your rank you still can open all chests and etc. Getting the forerunner catalyst makes it all worth it.

I’m at tier 10. It’s soooo painful. So painful.

1 ReplyThen dont do it and dont get the rewards.. I had to do the -blam!- lol was no biggie.. and i had it done week 1
-
1 ReplyYeah. Im bord of it now. Just always seem a waste of time like everything else.

As someone who lost his mind getting to rank 16 on the third week. Yes, it’s waaaaaay to long. I lost a bit of myself during that grind…

3 Repliesbuddy Destiny has a TON of filler in the grinds almost everything is pushed to the brink of burnout or well beyond burnout this game is a cash shop hamster wheel and has no other design focus as a higher priority the player value of this game has gone down tremendously as the devs discard anything in the way of maintaining the cash shop hamster wheel - bringing a new player to this game is a freaking nightmare a cohesive story was long ago discarded, just tons of stuff to chase by doing the exact same activities for years - plus a few horde modes with some tweaks but they're still just horde modes what they do put TONS of dev time into is systems, systems to increase grind - another currency, another rep grind, another stash of currency goes in the trash because they want to restart the grinds on the players

1 ReplyOne and done for dares too lame and like you said too long. PVE is soooo boring and PVP is a joke but I am still here. Presage and Hawkmoon are best activities fun and challenging.

1 ReplyEdited by Mr Jim Lahey: 1/22/2022 7:15:27 PMWhen I was told it would be roughly 100 runs to get the ship, and realized the bounties doesn’t rank up the rep I decided to take my time. No way I’m going to forced myself to play one mode on one game. Too many games to enjoy/different modes to be played.

1 ReplyThey should rename the game Carpal Tunnel. You want the catalyst half--blam!- play while you're watching youtube. They should have made the catalyst be at a lower rank.
-
2 RepliesTook me 70 runs.

2 RepliesYou have all year
-
1 ReplyEdited by BluEyedGiant: 1/22/2022 9:34:21 PMStop whining you have a full year to do it in. Your just torturing yourself by rushing it. That's not bungies problem.
-
12 RepliesYou’ve had 24 weeks to do it
-
7 RepliesThe grind to get promoted is way too long. I want it now, wha wha wha. If it took you 100 runs that's a you issue. Suck it up - it's a grindy game to begin with. A lot of people got it done in one day - if you can't spread 8 hours of work across two months, then it's not Bungie's fault and you have no one but yourself to blame
-
1 ReplyI lost interesting after making it to rank 8.
-
1 ReplyI'm not saying you're wrong, but the 30th anniversary event was basically just an extra season. Rank 16 for the catalyst isn't really a big deal. I'd rather do that over the standard 2 part catalyst quest that includes pvp kills. Especially with pvp being a cesspool for the last year. I knocked it out over a few days. No reason to turn it into marathon. It's a great weapon.
-
6 RepliesAbsolutely no one is making you get to rank 16… or even rank 2. Ranks were not designed for you to knock out in a couple hours in the evening. If everything is easily obtainable… it holds NO value. If the majority of the player base can obtain it with ease… it has NO value. “I am referring to all content.”

1 ReplyDepends on your perspective. I'm just gaming for rolls at this point, while assisting new lights. Just do what you enjoy.
