I've been having this problem for a bit now and I don't know if it's just me.... I'm trying to remove my Xbox account from the cross save (since it's not the right one I want to link) it's a random account that got created and linked. The account I'm trying to link for Xbox was a previous account of when the first Destiny first came out during the console days. I had characters and everything on that account but at the time I didn't know about Bungie so I couldn't save my characters from back then. I do however, have a flash drive with my saved games and progress from Xbox 360 but due to that console being so old and no one plays anymore, idk if my flash drive would still work and have the saved progress from the first Destiny and the characters I made. I was hoping to still link my old Xbox account and just overlap with new characters I have on Destiny 2 now. Although, when I try to Authenticate to remove the Xbox account; I would type in my Microsoft email that I had used and it would say 'Authenticated' with the checkmark beside it. But when I refreshed the page or click on my account to view profile, open a new page on the Bungie website or something, it would go back to where it was where I had to verify to Authenticate = Deactivate account. I don't know if Cross save is a permanent thing where 'once you link an account thats it you cant remove' it kind of situation, or if it's because I have to wait 90 days (since I purchased silver) for my Steam account to be ready to Authenticate to Deactivate also to do both at the same time. In addition; When I try to unlink my previous linked Xbox account it says I need to "disable Cross save" in order to unlink it which I do not see an option to disable Cross Save... or am I blind? Am I doing something wrong? or do I have to wait out the 90 days? (Sorry for the long message)
