...in addition to trying to match with people with the same number of card wins, you will also attempt to match with people who have roughly the same number of overall wins for the weekend...
Does anyone else think this is just another short sighted decision?
Is that not just a -blam!- you to any player who isn't a Trials god who simply wants to play a lot? Is that really the group you want to alienate?
First weekend we had double bonus, I played 96 matches - reset my ranks 2x, and won 40 matches.
I am not good - I totally get that. Longest win streak was 5, and I'm sure I did my part to help opponents on their quest to flawless. That's fine - I was playing for the loot and to try to improve a bit. Also played at least half of the weekend on a single flawed full card for the extra points and rewards. If you think I'm going to even consider doing that again based on this new matchmaking algorithm, you're -blam!- stupid.

The fact that it’s not an easy stomp to the lighthouse anymore?

If there isn’t a freelance option I won’t play trials anyway…

9 RepliesDoesn’t make sense, on matching people with wins alone. For argument sake you could have one Fireteam with 50 wins/50 loses, match made against a team with 50 wins/0 loses. Where is the logic in this?
-
7 RepliesWhy can’t we just have fun like other games? F*ck off with this matchmaking making it not fun to get on

2 RepliesDumb bungie catering to the streamers
-
2 RepliesThey are throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks. We do not have great talent or leadership over at Bungie and that is why the the product is in a bad place right now. I bought the deluxe but I’m worried. I don’t know if they can make a good DLC I mean they struggle with the game as it is now.

Edited by iZnth: 10/30/2021 12:24:32 PMYes, it falls victim to Goodhart's Law (when a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure). Total wins will mean that the overall experience gets increasingly difficult for all, making it even less likely for the lesser skilled players to go flawless the more they try. In reality, any such system should look at net wins vs losses. Sure, hypothetically speaking someone could tank every game to end up in a lower skill bracket and then stomp their way to the Lighthouse, but that will also allow others to make it through at their expense. What I find additionally concerning, though few have addressed it, is Bungie's want to have a 20% split evenly across match outcomes. Although they have defined a blowout as a 5-0, a 5-1 is pretty much a blowout too (when was the last time you saw, say, a hockey game in which the final score was 5-1 and the pundit consensus was that it was close?) - and by their own admission, 50%+ of all scores end in either a 5-0 or a 5-1. Surely a much better target is to heavily emphasize close games for a total not of 20-20-20-20-20, but something like a 2-6-12-30-50.

18 RepliesThis change is literally to feed the streamers that were crying that their flawless pool wasn't fun. So they got rid of the flawless pool and put in this b/s system to make it seem like they are trying something different. Bungie cares way more about the streamers than they do about the regular players.

1 ReplyPlayed like 4 games so far, almost all were blowouts and stacks v. Solos once again. Games won isn’t really in affect yet as it’s only been a day and maybe I’ll come back tmrw night and check it out but yeah so far this is back to the usual for Bungie.
-
I played 5 games and 4 of them were 3 stacks. Never won a single game. It's a pretty stupid idea because everyone starts out at "0" initially, so you have the same chance matching 3 randoms with no thumbs as to a 3 stack of Flawless players with every Adept Trials weapon in existence.

1 ReplyI disagree. First time I’ve seen steamers having carry issues. This is the way it should be. Sweats now rank themselves away from the normal pack.
-
1 ReplyThe logic does kind of go against the idea of keeping players in the playlist. When they hit a certain amount B it wins it’s sweat City.
-
2 RepliesThis is what it was when Trials was first re-released...at least that was my understanding. If you see a team on a streak, they typically lose the 6th or 7th match
-
Trials matchmaking is terrible. They had it right in week 1
-
4 RepliesWeek one was the best. Just tweak it so solos match solos and fire teams match fire teams. Problem solved. You don’t have to split the playlist. Most other fps games have been doing this for years. Bungo = 1 step forward 3 steps back.
-
If it deducts losses from wins it should work just fine. And you should end up playing people roughly in your skill area. This was caused by the resetting rodger brigade.
-
1 ReplyMaybe they should try the win ratio instead of numbers of wins first. What if a team has way way more losses than wins get paired up with another team that virtually have almost 0 losses? That is not a fair balance.
-
Trials gonna suck this week
-
Great points, it was so much fun the 1st week
-
Last weekend was great. Got majority done in one day. Today I haven't even got past 2 wins. Nothing but flawless clans.

Edited by Racket UK: 10/30/2021 12:58:05 AMIf the streamers want easy kills stick them in team based only matches with AI opponents to farm or Some targets that pop up from time to time lol, and let casual players enjoy a battle against players of equal skill.
-
Trails is trashed again for us solo players. On win count or not I'm still facing all 3 stacks that are communicating together to where we can't. I'm with ya bud, back to being pointless to play
-
UPVOTE THIS MANS POST. keep flawless vs non flawless pool. Punishment for getting more wins is the WORST system i can think of. Let people get their ONE flawless a weekend and then face the sweat pool if they want more. Simple. (I never post on these cringe forums but THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED)
-
The way to fix this problem is have both systems. Use the win counter for the non flawless pool for the full weekend then once you have gone flawless disable the counter and just put them In the flawless pool.

2 Repliesit sux this week, nice update, nice changes... 5mins queue time.. 1,5 kd vs 5kd 500x flawless top 500 players GG...
