Best experience I’ve ever had in trials !! What’s everyone else’s opinion….

For a bottom tier pvper like me playing after the flawless pool was activated I found it enjoyable to rank up for loot. I went 6-0 and only encountered two teams that were pretty tough, but then the next two I was paired with robotic potatoes and got rolled twice in the flawless. I don't care though because I'm pretty bad, but it was nice getting Shayura's, Reed's, and a Sola's Scar from engrams. If freelance becomes permanent I'd play for the pinnacle rewards; flawless doesn't really matter to me.

Absolutely loved it. I did a rant last week on how terrible the match making was. So this week I'd like to acknowledge to Bungie and the community that this was a great experiment. I did not go flawless - never expected to - however it was NOT game after game round after round of losses and 0-5 games. They were competitive I got my 50 and 20 rounds and even had 4 games where my team won. I think this should be a permanent fixture in the ecosystem. Thank You.

Edited by TacticalDucky69: 10/27/2021 3:51:47 PMIt was a double carry every match for me and I had to change the way I played because my teammates wouldn’t never leave the spawn or push or do damage. On the flip side I’m playing against bad players but it’s still an if I die we lose situation

Solo queue was fine but it doesnt solve the bigger issue of terrible team balancing. Quite possibly it was the worst weekend for me

1 ReplyIts probably the most satisfying experience that I've had in PvP in the last year. And definitely the most fun I've had playing Trials. And that's even after failing to do a passage of confidence after I went flawless on friday. I think that with being someone who has played PvP in this game almost 100% solo the totally freelance queue actually allowed me to experience Trials from the my usual orientation to the game. And that strangely allowed me to be able to see better what other people like about going flawless. Because those first weeks when you had people of ummm... objectively questionable skill going flawless I was like what in the world is this and how do they think this is going to work? But then with being able to play it in more of the way that I'm used to playing the game you can see that going flawless doesn't necessarily have to be something that's only for the very absolute best players (which wouldn't include me). And I can also better understand what people were talking about when they would say that at some point during their flawless runs they had to rise to the occasion or at least play to a certain level regardless of what their skill level may appear to be.

6 RepliesIt's to easy. What's the point in the normal playlist if freelance is a cake walk?

Been a bad weekend for me 56+ games and still no flawless this week. Been stuck at 3- 4 wins sometimes 0 wins for 3 games straight. Left a lot of matches as well cause not gonna stay in a losing fight. Map is not a lot a fun for me. One the few maps I play the worst on like bannerfall. Absolutely dislike both of these maps. Went flawless for the first time with the changes that made originally when trials came back. And honestly probably will never be able to again

Solos is good but maaaaaaaaaan is normal playlist in bad spot now hahaha

Good times. You won't normally find me in pvp, but I do play Iron Banner. Came for the view, stayed for nite. Since solo players are loot driven, it was good. The rewards are the best in Destiny for time spent. Got all the armor & some nice weapons. We won some, lost a lot, but gained valuable knowledge on how to be a better pvp player. Killed myself with a trip mine, but won a match with a throwing knife. That alone made it all worthwhile. I'll be back.

Can’t wait for next week posts saying “OMG, Trials sucks hard now, Bungie what did you do?”

3 RepliesI think it is a good option. It is not perfect, just like everything else in this game but it can succeed. Regular trials is mostly carries and toxic players and is why I never really played it. It is the reason it always dies and it is the reason all of these new modes are being tested. If you are really bad at PVP this mode is not going to give you a safe place. There are good players in these games. You will most likely still get your -blam!- kicked and have a lot of bad games. It will also always be random people so you will have morons on your team that quit, don't try and who will make winning hard. Matchmaking will never fix the latter. The positive is there is no team advantage, no carries and fewer toxic players. A good player has a much better chance of winning with a bad teammate in freelance. If you are facing a pre made team and you have a really bad player on your team you are most likely done. In freelance a bad teammate is not a guaranteed loss. I had games where one good player carried bad teammates and made the match competitive. The flawless pools would need to go away if freelance becomes a permanent mode, it is simply not needed with solo players having their own mode. The flawless pool was introduced to help solo players against good teams farming them in the solo mode. Even with it's issues I like freelance but I'm not confident it will become permanent but we will see.

I went flawless pretty easily once I actually attempted to in the solo playlist. I'd say it was an easier, less stressful experience. I feel like when I'm in a team of 3 and we're down that we all have to fight as hard as we can to win but with randos I couldn't care less and don't let it bother me lol. Overall, it was a fun experience in that playlist. However, before I tried that a buddy and I decided to play trials with just us 2 and we had one match in about an hour and then we gave up. That is the problem with freelance, it ends the two friends who want to play Trials together who don't have a 3rd. But I think its an easy fix if they would at least attempt to implement one. I'd do this: 3 stacks have access to the normal playlist and 2 stacks and solos have their own. Yeah you'll still get a duo here and there that can run the table but 2 coordinated players is a lot different than 3. That's my opinion on it!

4 RepliesIts always around win #5 is when i get the goofiest teammates. Idc bout try hards. Just gimme a decent squad.
-
Its a step in the right direction. Ultimately, it needs SBMM. To just be pummeled over and over and over again, will discourage anyone from playing. That being said, how would you know the difference from a low level Flawless vs an Upper level Flawless? Through a good old ranking system. Apex has one. Rocket League has one. Credible games have one. Now, I know, Destiny is not trying to be an e-sport, but if you want PvE players to grind PvP to collect various items and such, and to keep the population high, then give them incentive to do so. Make it fun.

I think it's ok but when you get stuck with teammates that play like new lights you're just stuck holding their hands the whole time I never expect to have the best teammates but competence would be appreciated

Same experience

I'd like it to be permanent

I love it.

1 ReplyThe fact that a lot of it is luck based is frustrating. It’s just about what teammates you get unless you’re a god at the game. It kind of cheapens going flawless in here for me. They should do it again on a better map and see. For me freelance is sitting at a solid 6/10

It was kinda meh overall for me.

4 RepliesEdited by FL00FING AB0UT: 10/25/2021 2:49:38 AMI haven’t tried it, personally. Many people who are high skill seem to loathe it. People who are mid to low skill seem to have a more favorable opinion. I’m curious if freelance serves its purpose. The purpose just increasing accessibility seems to work on that end. But for those who hunt gear and repeatability, I’m not sure it hits the mark.

You know they won't keep it Bungie does not like its players to have fun
-
I'm actually having a better time as well except for last night when I was about to go flawless but my two teammates (I can't give out their usernames but if they're reading this SCREW YOU BOTH) decided to just completely throw or they're just that bad, but besides that I can say freelance for me has definitely made trials better
-
44 RepliesIn comes the sweats to spread bogus lies about splitting the payers, long wait. Lol. They really just want easy wins. You know what, it's not splitting players because solo freelance won't play the other mode.

5 RepliesI love. I just got my first flawless ever and I’m on top of the world.
