Hard to swallow pills : you all refused to play the mode before and now expect yourselves to suddenly be great at it. On top of this you assumed match making meant you'd suddenly start winning even though you're bad at the game mode. Furthermore for God knows what reason you haven't learnt that lesson yet so you think freelance means you a bad player will suddenly start winning. No if you're bad you're bad and you need to practice to get better.
No trials isn't for the sweat Lords anymore, you can literally get all the rewards aside from adept weapons and mods while losing constantly. Bungie made fantastic changes you all just refuse to practice, refuse to take the blame for loses often blaming your team of randoms or accusing the enemies of cheating or no lifing.
Most of all a lot of you actively refuse to use any form of lfg as well as never using fire team voice chat during games effectively shooting yourself in the foot from the get go, and then you're shocked you lose more than you win.
This season bungie is not to blame, sweats are not to blame, streamers and content creators are not to blame, YOU are to blame.
Edit : I want to throw this in here because I did not expect even 1 reply let alone the hundreds it's getting and I have no intention of replying back aside from this edit. Soooooo many of you are quick to get triggered and miss understand the tone of the post.
(Shout out to the large amount of people that have left positive comments I see you <3)
Anyways the clarification is this; there is nothing wrong with being bad we all sucked when we started and that's a fact, the problem is the majority actively refuse to put any time at all into practice in order to improve and instead immediately rush here to complain. Not 1 single time did I ever say opening up to solo and duo players was bad for trials idk why you people think the "1t W4s DyiNg B3fOrE s0loS gOt L3t iN" is a valid argument here given that's not in the slightest the thing I'm addressing. Yes it was dying, yes I'm happy with the population increase, but your attitudes are gonna just kill it again.
And finally arguably most importantly something I left out of the original post cos it was already longer than I wanted it to be; match making exists in trials purely as a form of practicing, introducing you to the game mode, and warming up before joining a team that is all. Is it possible to solo a ton of wins? Yes. Will the average player be able to do so? No. Can you solo flawless? Yes. Should the average player expect a solo flawless? No.
Ayo I final thing why so many replies being like "bro the changes were good" yeah my dude I straight up said in the post the changes bungie made are fantastic lmao we agreeing

Dude what are you even talking about? The regular Joes are not complaining, we’re just happy to get a little loot. The only ones complaining are either younger one who complain about everything and nothing at once, or YOU!

See, there are three kinds of people: dicks, -blam!- and -blam!-. -blam!- think everyone can get along and dicks just want to -blam!- all the time without thinking it through. But then you got your -blam!-. And all the -blam!- want is to -blam!- all over everything. So -blam!- may get mad at dicks once in a while because, -blam!- get -blam!- by dicks. But dicks also -blam!- -blam!-! And if they didn't -blam!- the -blam!-, you know what you'd get? You'd get your -blam!- and your -blam!- all covered in -blam!-!

Didn't play trials before... and still don't play trials (not going to) so am I still to blame?
-
Just saying, if there are things in your life that don't cause happiness then delete those things. Especially things that you volunteer to do. Trials will only bring tribulations to solo players.

I don’t like pills :/

15 RepliesNo, the truth is the dumbest -blam!- I’ve ever seen is a mandatory matchmaking game not having an enabled voice chat in pvp. I wouldn’t mind playing with solos if I LOADED INTO VOICE CHAT. LIKE EVERY OTHER PVP GAME IN EXISTENCE. Just change the “helpful hint” loading screen in trials to a warning that voice chat enabled and add tips like “if you’re not making a call outs, shut up.”

Well said and indeed learning the in and out of trials can help guns and class use do not win every battle in trials tactic and commucation only win some battle's as well the real key to wining is a calm mind and good sence. Sun Tzu say know your enamy and you have the advantage but retrain your lust for glory for dead fighter win no wars .In trials such as it is today lone wolfing it will only lead to you being the first to fall. Study the map given in detail after a lose or before you evan run for that day if you find out what the map is look for the choke points in the maps thay all have some use these ponit to set up tactic as an expamle bait your foes into these points then block the ways out useing lmg to lay down a wall of lead to force them to find cover of your choosing then move in with rapied fire auto's to finsh them off while there pined. Second in lose do not rage just take it as a lesson on what you can do better next time.Third it just a game it dose not alway have to be about the win every time sometime it just for the fun of it.

Blame for what? I don’t get what there is to blame anyone for. I’ve played as a solo player last three weekends with zero expectation of going flawless. Plenty of 5-0 stompings, but some closer games as well. Also, I seem to be missing out on the “toxic” environment people keep mentioning. Barely a single T-Bag, and absolutely zero messages, of any kind. One thing I have noticed is even more complaining on this forum, especially about the change to format this weekend. A solo only playlist might be impractical, especially with a flawless pool as well. So it is what it is, a chance for us solo players to have a crack at it and get some decent gear we wouldn’t normally have access to. Some of the good solo players are obviously managing flawless. I’m not good enough, I’m okay with that.

Obviously the answer is to improve through practice. But people can't just jump in a short amount of time to enjoy the mode for what it is NOW. It's taken me years to get to the level I'm at and so I know first hand how difficult it can be to improve. Do I struggle in trials, no I do not, but again, that's because i have substantial experience under my belt. So i can enjoy it to it's fullest. Others who just want to get a taste for it can get absolutely stomped and that feeling is understandably frustrating. But I do lean towards it not having to be fair to everyone. The point of the activity is to pit you against players equally struggling to get to the top and go flawless. This is where better matchmaking comes into play, but better matchmaking, as you said, should not equal you going flawless. Flawless shouldn't just be something everyone can get. Though to say that it shouldn't be possible for average players would be wrong and to exclude it only to the best of the best is foolish because then nobody else could enjoy the mode. Bungie has to find a careful balance where blueberry 2 thumbs doesn't just go flawless. But also so that Jimmy white knuckle doesn't only reap the rewards.

The harsh truth about all PVP game modes is that 50% of all games are lost. If you are in the lower half of players based on skill level, you are not going to go flawless unless you get carried by higher skill players (trust me, I get it, I'm in that lower half). The only way to make Trials worthwhile is to give loot to all players, regardless of whether you win or lose, which is exactly what Bungie has done, which is a great and welcome change. Players need to stop expecting to go flawless and Bungie should stop talking about increased flawless numbers, because all it does is give players false hope of something most will never achieve. Is it a problem that many people won't go flawless without a carry? No, it isn't. Just like a large portion of the player base will never complete a GM Nightfall or Master VOG clear without a carry. It's just a fact of life.

Either bring in sbmm with a solo playlist or the casuals just won’t play. And the sweats will be back to playing themselves- which is what it should be. No one likes being farmed outright to make it easier for someone to go flawless… Casuals don’t care about going flawless- we just want a fair game…

1 ReplyEdited by Sarah Rose: 9/27/2021 4:53:21 PMLast weekend, I came across someone in my lighthouse game. Me and the team I was running with (friends from my clan) won the game rather easily, as the other team were people going in solo, and for some reason this person was only on 4 wins. Why we got matched up together, I have no idea. They then proceeded to message me in a rather condescending way saying that I must feel a great sense of accomplishment going to the lighthouse against a team of - in their words - mediocre solo players. Spoiler alert, I didn't. I bagged them only because they bagged my teammates first. Do you know what they said? "I like to bag the sweats wearing flawless emblems, it's the only enjoyment I get out of this mode." None of us were even wearing any flawless emblems. My armor had the glow, but that's all it was. The lesson everyone needs to learn is that if you want most of the loot in the game, you need to play most of the game, and that means you will have to do things you don't necessarily enjoy. For some people that means when they are forced into pvp content, for some others it's the exact opposite. Let's not forget that most if not all of the actually good pvp weapons require you to play a hell of a lot of pve content, be it grinding out those god rolls or battling against incredibly unfair RNG (cough mythoclast cough). You can't make everything enjoyable for everyone. People need to at least try to understand the intentions and implications of what an endgame is, and respect that Trials is in fact an endgame pvp activity. You don't win wars without both skills and communication. Pro tip: Boss Spec does not work against other guardians, even if they are much stronger than you.

For the record I never expected to suddenly start winning. But I have been winning a lot more recently. In fact this past weekend I managed a 5 win ticket with 1 loss. Also I stuck it out long enough to get the pinnacle gear drop for this week as well. I so far have all the titan armor (except the helmet). As for weapons I have the following: -Linear fusion rifle -SMG -Pulse rifle -Hand cannon -Sword -Sniper For me running trials is about getting loot and I am enjoying doing just that.

When’s this movie coming out?

You can make a post just like this using good players as an example of harsh truths just as easy as you can with bad players. One could say hey look at what happens when only sweats participate in a game mode, it becomes a ghost town dumpster fire that they all sit around complaining about and that nobody liked playing. Another harsh truth is that the game mode was all just good players and look how it turned out. The playerbase and Bungie has finally realized the game mode would not survive with just sweats. They decided to open it up to everyone out of necessity not to just be nice. Doing this can save trials but there needs to be changes to benefit both sides long term to keep both camps engaged. As a solo player I never really played trials but I have enjoyed it this past few weekends, it has allowed me to see what it's like in the solo pool. Yes there are a lot of bad players that need to work on their ability and stop expecting free wins and hand holding. These players need to have realistic expectations going solo and if the expectation is flawless, get a group. There are also a lot of dicks who get off on gaming the system to avoid playing other good players and instead gatekeep, grief , T-bag, send shitty messages etc.. to lower skilled players who are actually trying to get better and learn. There is bad on both ends and always will be so lets be real. The reality is that there needs to be some level of simple matchmaking that does not totally segregate the population but attempts to prioritize matching solo players with solo players when possible and mixing the two pools when necessary. This allows the mixing of the playerbase but would reduce the amount of 5-10 game stretches where solo players face stacked teams and have a bunch of 5-0 matches like you can have now. I personally think solo players should face stacks in about 30% of their games. It will never be perfect for everyone but it can for sure be better than it is. There should also be a character based flawless pool active at the start of trials that rewards players who compete in it with rare random rewards like armor, shaders, ships etc.. There needs to be incentive for high skilled players to compete in the flawless pool and rewards you can only get by beating the best of the best not just because you got lucky or got carried thru the non flawless pool. Right now there is no real incentive for top tier players to play each other and that is a problem. If Bungie thinks a simple flawless pool on a Sunday will keep the solo playerbase engaged or no real flawless rewards for players to chase for staying in the flawless pool will work long term they are mistaken. Solo players should feel the same playing on a Saturday the same as they do on a Sunday. As solo players get the gear they want they will leave if they don't think they can win matches and can't enjoy the game. The numbers will slowly drop and trials will be back to what it was. This game mode will not survive without solo players, period.

You do know that “skill” tree is far greater of a pool of players complaining than just the bad players right? Reality.. content creators are complaining because carries are harder against equal skilled teams. So they complained about the flawless pool. They rejoiced when the game was heavily matching teams against solos. Content creators came out of retirement once they heard about the week one matchmaking that made it very easy. Everyone is going to complain outside of the small percentage of players with exceptional skills that truly want a challenge… and they hardly get those matches. Here is the deal… The majority of players do not care about the elitism of this game… they just want to play and have fun with the game they are paying to access. They want a equal balance on the loot so they do not have a disadvantage while playing PvP. No matter how small the advantage is. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a tier like system that opens the doors for this content. The numbers do not lie.. once players “thought” there was going to be a solo playlist.. they jumped in.. once they understood they were mainly fodder for the teams.. they jumped out. Bungie tested the flawless pool, and good players that do carries complained. As a business… do you want a higher population or do you want elitism that has killed any other PvP game that only catered to the top tier players? Money is the overall goal.. make a game friendly.. or take the L on better profits. Any other input is mute. Bungie is trying very hard to test those balances and I applaud them for actively being involved in PvP for the first time in a long time.

I've been a solo player since my original clan quit playing this game years ago. I play it casually these days but the current trials changes have been a lifeline. Sure I've lost and been the reason my team got smoked sometimes, but I've beaten stacks, I've clutched against flawless players. I've had fun. And the last 3 weeks I've easily won the 50 rounds. I think solos may struggle because nobody want to be that player that gets exposed. I say don't put that pressure on yourself and just have fun. You don't need communication, it's the same dry claustrophobic maps in regular pvp (yeah that's bungie's fault) It's the same weapons Just go and relax and get your rewards. Save the sweating for the sweats.
