Edit: the list I give is the stuff I use not what I’m seeing out in the field. I say this before the list, but I guess people don’t read that part?
I think Bungie has really done a good job this time around building a sandbox that has tons of viable options. Tons of weapons that are very competitive and even the ones that arnt are not far behind. Really appreciate the direction the sandbox is generally headed.
In a non exhaustive list here are some of the weapons I use regularly in pvp (all modes)
Chroma rush
Ace
Thorn
Multimach
Messenger
Suros regime
Succession
The stasis kinetic precision shotgun
New IB sidearm
Judgement
Dmt
Cloudstrike
Frozen orbit (two different rolls)
Uzume
Shruya’s wrath
Pali
Mythoclast
Gnawing hunter
Tommy’s matchbook (needs more ornaments, I didn’t play the season so I don’t have any)
Darkest before
The splicer pulse
Retrofuturist
English

3 RepliesI got this time worn spire out of my vault. It shreds people. My favorite ones this season for pvp are the following -Polaris Lance I've used this gun alot since beyond light and I really enjoy using it and like the way it feels and shoots. Feels smooth and does really good on bigger maps. Not to sticky, not to loose. -Plug one It's a great fusion this season. Doesn't have as good of a range as I hoped for but st7ll gets the job done well. I used to use glacioclasm but ever since the fusion rifle change it feels like a shadow of its former self. -ticuu's divination I decided to complete the catalyst quest and fell in love with it. Such a fun weapon to use and probably the most fun one I've used in a while. Marking people and making them explode is fun and no one expects to run against it. -Jade Rabbit Not as good in terms of ads feel but jade rabbit cam land 3 taps better then Polaris. Still a great feeling and dueling gun. I like it better for 1v1 scenarios over Polaris. But overall prefer the Lance. Great gun. -Time Worn Spire People say gridskipper is the best 540 but I disagree. Time Worn Spire is so much better and I have a god roll for both pulse rifles. The sight is so clean and feels great to shoot and drops targets fast. Honorable Mentions are Suros, Redrix, Lorenze Driver, Not Forgotten,

2 RepliesNF still the best

2 RepliesDiversity in PvP, huh, that’s a thing right?🤔

You forgot contingency plan 🤫

I'm just now discovering the power of multimach smg. It's the missing link of all my fun builds

Edit: the list I give is the stuff I use not what I’m seeing out in the field. I say this before the list, but I guess people don’t read that part?
Because your post doesn’t make sense. Your title is about gun variety in PvP, so naturally people think you are talking about people’s weapons in general, but you just talking about your own weapon choices? Why give a list of that? You really think players will have long discussions on what YOU like to use as opposed to what they r seeing? You technically could always use what u wanted but what matters is what is competitive .

Do you see the beauty of it? The inevitability? You’re buffed, only to be nerfed. You, Guardians, you are my meteor. My swift and terrible sword and the Last City will crack with the weight of your failure. Purge me from the consensus; turn the people of the city against me. It means nothing! When the dust settles, the only thing living in this world... will be the Rat King!

3 RepliesGo pick up a servant leader from gambit. So fun.
-
I started using Cerberus +1 again. Great for smashing Stasis Crystals.
-
10 RepliesGood, my favorite weapon this season isn't on your list. Therefore it's not on anyone's radar.
-
I still rock my god tier Y1 COS scout called Garden Progeny 1. Idk the thing is built different
-
4 RepliesMy personal opinion is IB taints people’s perception of how prevalent certain weapons are and how viable they are because it brings out the once a month PvE players that only play IB.
-
1 ReplyThat's just because it's a new season and the actual meta hasn't set in yet. Give it 2 months and that variety will be gone. It'll be stasis shotty and HC fairly soon
-
Give it a few more days and vex mythoclast will once again be broken asf
-
This season has multiple viable options for primary and special it’s great
-
5 RepliesHmm glad you see a variety all I see is vex and that stupid arbalest 2.0 on crack.

Edited by Infamous067: 9/4/2021 2:22:12 PMBows, scout rifles, auto rifles and 450 rpm pulse rifles are still really bad. Bows and scouts cant compete vs snipers or linear fusions that just one shot, auto rifles and 450 pulse rifles just lack in forgiveness and overall ttk. Hand cannons are far more forgiving requiring less shots, peek shooting and high burst damage. Its so easy to break line of sight in this game which is why weapons that requires a ton of tracking just suck. The way I would buff these weapons would be: Bows- causes massive flinch when landing a headshot, all bows now have archers tempo and forces snipers/linear fusions to de-scope upon landing a crit. Snipers/linear will NOT de-scope if the bow user landed a body. Scouts- take less flinch or no flinch at further ranges, causes massive flinch to snipers and linear fusions. Scouts take more flinch at closer ranges so beware! Auto rifles- honestly just increase range and body shot damage. (Auto rifles have a healthy ttk, its impossible to reach that ttk when players take a ton of flinch and missing 2-3 shots.) an increase in body damage adds forgiveness to auto rifles which they desperately need. The reason I mentioned range is because I see weapons like monte carlo struggling to out duel hand cannons after what barely feels like 20 meters. Auto rifle spacing is extremely strict which is why everyone prefers hand cannons. 450 Pulse rifles- this is the only archetype lacking, I would increase range and a small bump to body shot damage. I find it weird how I can still melt someone with gridskipper or the harder hitting types like no time to explain by shooting the body but fail miserably by using a 450. This archetype is extremely unforgiving, their actual ttk though when landing all crits is solid so an increase in body damage will drastically help this archetype. I know it all sounds too good but they seriously need it, anyone that mains hand cannons and says these weapon takes no skill and thus need to be garbage needs to go away. Hand cannons users are not outplaying anyone if the weapon archetypes they are facing are naturally weaker and less forgiving. Im going to be honest, it takes more skill in this sandbox to do well with an auto rifle than it does using a hand cannon.

Same here. Pvp has always been my bread and butter since D1 came out. I've been away from Destiny since the end of Forsaken, and after returning two weeks ago, I'm really happy with the diversity. Matchmaking is still kind of awful, but I'm just really happy to not have to grind for meta weapons, and instead am able to take what I'm comfortable with.

Spoiler Alert SLAPS

5 RepliesEdited by Klaus_Reaper (Adept): 9/4/2021 1:38:32 AMNice you see all this diversity...all i see in my lobbies are people abusing Mithoclast vex, this gun is ruining crucible at the moment, these guys dont know how to slight make the gun decent, it's broken already, add up stacks all using, it's a nightmare, crucible is a living hell.

2 RepliesI’ve been using wave splitter recently, and umm well I’m torn between its obscure so it’s skillful and it’s absolutely cheesy in most situations. Further testing is needed. But killer list bro all of those guns are fantastic! You a fan of the new seasonal exotic?
-
8 RepliesArctic haze with accurised rounds, vorpal and stability masterwork shreds too, also time worn spire, and the iron banner sniper too

1 ReplyEdited by Kyuss: 9/4/2021 12:10:04 PMSnipers never really went away, and they were always used in the few maps that allow long views, camping and picking off people from a distance. Shotguns, we all know about them. The handcannons that you mention were always stable and very useful, regardless of nerfs. Mythoclast obviously got a big buff and is much more useful - occasionally superb as well. DMT also remains fantastic after the nerf, which simply reduced its effectiveness as a quasi-shotgun at close range against people rushing you. So that leaves the autos, SMGs and pulses that you mentioned and the new IB sidearm. I believe it's an artificial image that is seen at the moment in Banana, since people have to go through steps for the quest and for the new Deadeye seal. Once these are gone, we will simply go back to where we started, with the change of fusions in the place of shotguns. Sure, there will be people using them, but after the dust settles down they will be exactly as few as they were before, in my opinion.

Edited by Hawk_Man!: 9/4/2021 5:39:42 AMI need to bust out Tommy's again such a flavorful gun wish they had a Thompson wood grain ornament.

And yet the 2 most used guns, most kills, are still Ace and Felwinter.

Edited by Sohsuh: 9/4/2021 2:23:56 AMNow if only they would... Get dedicated servers since peer to peer is trash Fix lobby balancing Fix the horrible spawns Bring the good maps out of the vault and put away some of these terrible ones (while we wait for new ones) Fix melee whiffing half the time Fix super and ability spam Give Iron Banner an overhaul like Trials. Then we'd have a great PvP game on our hands.
