From the casings, to the barrel types, to the perks on it
Take the Chalice from season of opulence and jack it up to 11!
-
Nah too complicated. Bungie is not capable
-
Forging various weapons and getting kills with those weapons in different challenges gets you the "Man-At-Arms" title.
-
Message heard, we're buffing hunters, adding a new currency, bring you some old D1 stuff and we'll nerf some random stuff once we spin the wheel of nerfs.
-
That was the only best thing came with curse of Osiris where you collect cultures to forge weapons, but the rest was mediocre at best.

Edited by Lord of the Bullets: 8/7/2021 3:39:40 PMNot gonna lie, I wish they had went in a direction like this. While the odds of ever seeing this in Destiny are slim to none, it would have been really cool. There's not a whole lot of good that I have seen come out of Call of Duty in the last few years, but 2019's Modern Warfare reboot had probably one of the most robust gunsmith features that I have seen. Let you trick out your rifles in almost all areas- stocks, grips, sights, barrels, underbarrels. I've definitely found myself in Destiny, on more than one occasion, wishing i had a bunch more choices when it comes to my favorite scout rifles' sights.

We had something like this in D1 with the Gunsmith. In theory it sounds good but in practice it doesn’t work with Destiny. The trouble with it is you lose the grind for a god roll. This means content loses its replay value and because we don’t actually get that much content per update replay value is extremely important to keep us playing in between updates.
-
Makes too much sense, so it won't happen . To bad they don't have a vendor in the tower that could build or make weapons if you supply him certain parts ........
-
Already came up with this idea. I called it custom frames. Used better devils as my example. Made it where you have to pick ammo type the gun will have instead of leaving that to a perk. As in high impact rounds, armor piercing rounds, explosive rounds,or time delay explosive rounds. I know that last one is called something else. You get two or three scope/sight choices. Then two passive perks and two aggressive perks. Passive perks are the perks that are just activate no matter what. Example. Extended mag or something like that. A perk you don’t have to activate. Aggressive perks are those you have to activate yourself. Example. Kill clip, rampage, outlaw something to that nature of something that you have to do to activate the perk. I mean my idea would replace every weapon in the game but it’s better than the bs we have now. Disclaimer. Only scout rifles, handcannons, and sniper rifles can have time delay explosive round and explosive rounds. God help us if auto rifles get those rounds but it would make the game fun for a short time. So I mean I am already way a head of you. Bad part is no one wanted it.

Been on this for awhile

This was what I had thought Destiny was going to be when I was playing the Beta of D1. I am still hopeful that we can eventually craft, and curb the horrid RNG in this game. As it is, I dont even care for the loot anymore. It is actually a deterrent to play more than a lure. I delete almost everything that drops. Maybe 1 in 1000 weapons are worthy of inspection at this point.

Edited by SolarCerberuS: 8/7/2021 12:30:43 AMVisual differences on weapons would be nice, We already have visual changes for scopes on sone so would be nice for barrels, mags/clips, stocks etc to have visual variance. (I believe there was a selection from D1 that changed visuals with certain mags) I could see the forging process being plausible for rollable exotics, take dead mans for example completions of the quest award a weapon component instead of a full random rolled weapon and once enough parts have been collected Ada 1 can assemble the exotic with parts selected from those we have collected.
-
Edited by WulfPak666: 8/6/2021 10:17:00 PMIf anything, I'd say that could be an exotic you make strictly from Banshee. Akin to the Khovstov. (Spell check) Depending on what you do during the quest determines the barrel, scope, mag, stock, and perks you get. It'll be unique to you (but of course there will be the omg optimal meta perks to go for) The Chalice (Lure, and whatnot) is the best we're ever going to get. After the gunsmith reroll crap in D1, Bungie is never going to let us make our own guns every again.

1 Replythe only problem with this is that it would eliminate seasons long grind. The whole appeal to this game is that the chances of getting exactly what we want is extremely low, and what we do to counter this is grind, which creates more play time, which keeps us "contained" whilst playing the same content over and over and allowing Bungie to be complacent. The Menagerie was a good example of what potential outcomes would have been nice, but even then, it was limited to very specific weapons, and even when we could farm it, Bungie patched it almost immediately, forcing us to rinse, and repeat.
-
2 RepliesThis wouldn't work in Destiny. Why? Because the game is too shallow. No matter what variations there might be in an item due to perks, mods, buffs, etc, the actual differences between items is not great enough to support such a system. The Lure system of loot is a much better way to handle this. Barrels mags and masterworks should not be selectable. But the ability to exclude some perks is a great idea. Same thing goes for the ability to get double perks in the last column. That is about as much flexibility as I believe Destiny can handle.
-
It won't take away any grind if it's done right. Take the gunsmith for example. He was useless after rank 6. And the ranks only kept going on and on if I'm not mistaken. Why not have him able to replicate weapons obtained in the world. If your reputation is low you get little to no perks, or all crappy ones. But the higher you rank your gunsmith reputation the better the perks, barrels, masterworks etc. you get to customize on that weapon. Or if you obtain a weapon you can break it down for a schematic that you can take to the gunsmith. He replicates the weapon for you but there's a weapon progression system starting with one. It has no perks, no masterwork, and only 1 barrel option. You have to use that weapon a lot to level it up, could be for either pve or pvp. Each level unlocks something for that weapon. And eventually you get to the point where you can put whatever you want on it. It won't take away any grind and RNG can stay in the game.
-
sounds good on paper. But ultimately it will lead to a Meta even more shallow than it currently is just like it did in D1
-
I’d love this. Even allow us to choose which masterwork we want the gun to have
-
When you forge a weapon, you need three things The right metal, temperature's over 1400 degrees And someone who wants to kill Here in Jungle Village, we got all three
-
2 RepliesI would really like to turn failsafe into a gun like how borderlands has guns with sentient AI in them
-
Total forging would be too much to add in, but adding in the ability pick your perks should be a thing and I have detailed that in the past. You should still have to unlock the perks by getting that perk on a weapon, but then take the weapon to banshee and have them dismantle the weapon to make the perk transferrable. Then request a custom perk transfer to a different weapon you have with the perks you unlocked so far. Pay some payment to banshee and a mission bounty later you have a weapon with the transferrable perks you selected. That would help increase the grind as I have quite a few custom perk loadouts I would like. It would also balance the crucible a little as you wouldn't have certain players that cheat or massive grind with god rolls that no one else can get. Certain perks should lock to weapons or get a debuff when transferred, but this would greatly enhance the game in my opinion.

Just bring back Armsday.
-
2 RepliesGreat idea. But I'll try to summarize the state of the game: Do you see that big hamster wheel over there? You can run it! - Some D2 phrase probably
-
2 RepliesEdited by Ferus Lux: 8/6/2021 2:43:04 AMIt's a loot game. You kill enemies. They drop loot. Things like sights and magazine types though should be changeable on all legendary guns at Banshee.
-
I wish. Armsday was like the only day i got on D1 at the end in RoI. Wish we could.... Give a gun to banshee.. Every wednesday he would have 2 different rolls of that weapon ...which we could pick up or let it stay for another week. Pickup would cost like an ascendant shard.

Makes too much sense and would allow us to have too much fun
