Performance in the new Override mission on Tangled Shore is outright horrible. Anyone else having this issue? From stable 60 anywhere else to like 30-40 fps
I have a pretty much basic setup. CPU: R5 1600x, GPU: RX 5600 XT, 16 gigs of 3000 Mhz memory
I should also mention that I'm intentionally using like a year old version of GPU driver cause D2 can run okay-ish only on outdated drivers.
Bungie plz fix AMD GPUs FPS already :(
UPD. my performance dropped overall, after this patch I'm getting like 50-55 fps instead of stable 60.

Edited by MR_Red_O: 5/28/2021 12:26:39 PMSo many Threads now with AMD Issues but Bungie is just closing their Eyes, Ears and Mouth too. The problem with AMD GPUs didn't just exist since yesterday, but somehow Bungie has been investigating it for months and there is no fix and in my opinion none will come. I have really tried everything thats around the Web and i mean everything, but no matter what I try, the FPS always drop to about 30 on the corresponding map - Just 2 ways - either not playing the content or simply deleting Destiny

Thankfully I have a spare laptop that's about equivalent to my desktop, but contains a Nvidia 2060M in it. Upgraded my AMD driver on my desktop to the latest, instead of 20.4.2 so I can... you know, play other games. Anyways, FPS drops down to 35 in Tangled Shore on my RX 5600 XT. Meanwhile, my laptop's 2060M runs at 85 FPS minimum in the same area, even though the CPU is probably 20% slower since I have to disable turbo to maintain <85C temps. :^) I submitted a report about it to AMD through their Crimson app, since it's something they most likely have ways to deal with it or communicate with Bungie what the actual problem is.

cmon bungie quit worrying about blue gear giving players an unexpected stat point or 2 and FIX THIS GAME its lagging horribly now that its tangled shore AMD 5700xt user here and getting 30 or less frames choppier than console ever was
-
1 ReplyRyzen 3900x and 6900XT with 32GB of 3200MHz RAM. I drop to 27 fps... Legitimately unplayable to me and gives me a headache.
-
It's been like this with everything since Beyond Light released. They never fixed the performance problems for most people in the first place! I'm running a 3700x and an RX 5600XT and am still getting 30 on Override not even with high settings (they're on medium since BL released). It's like this everywhere. Where I used to get 120-140 fps I'm getting 62-87 fps. This is just straight up ridiculous.
-
5800x, 6900xt, 32gb ram, all custom water cooled, every other game runs like a dream.... D2 game performance is way sub par everywhere frankly. My 1080ti did better.... The new override is abysmal, frame drops to 45fps and spikes/dips everywhere.... Bungie broke the game with the lighting update, performance has been atrocious ever since....
-
I am also getting the same thing, I actually started a thread but it was not as detailed as yours here, very frustrating!
-
i get like 40fps on average with a rx6800 and the new expunge missions has some crazy stuttering
-
15 RepliesEverytime I watch a yt video on PCs all I hear is amd amd amd. It's so good just get amd and thousands parrot Amd is better. Then I come here and all I see is people complaining about Amd. I stick to getting the 3080ti and i7 11700k.
-
2 RepliesI've had these issues as far back as the contact public event. I have an RTX 2080 Super coming early next week so I'm hoping things will be a bit better on an NVIDIA card. I currently use a 5700xt.
-
1 ReplyI suggest anyone with an AMD GPU use the Intelligent Standby List cleaner https://www.wagnardsoft.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=18 I have mine set at 1024 and then 3500mb since I have 16gb of Ram. Significantly helped my frame drops and stuttering in destiny 2. I use an i5 11600KF at 4.9Ghz all core and RX6800XT and play at 4K60 locked and stable consistent.

Edited by WiCK: 5/26/2021 4:09:57 PMSame situation here - 2700x, Vega64 with a full custom watercooling loop. Usually my D2 performance is pinned at 144hz at 1440p. Override this week is giving me 30-40fps. Other activities are fine, but Tangled Shore is a slideshow.
-
Bungie doesn't care enough to fix it. This has been a problem in several places since Beyond Light and it gets worse with every update. Tangled Shore Override is the worst performing area yet.
-
Same issue here, CPU 2700x GPU 6900xt and the best I can get frame wise is 35. When I heard the mission was on tangled shore this week I knew I would only do the three to get the pinnacle then not play it again
-
I'm only on the forum because I also am stuck using a year old driver... Guess we'll just have to make daily threads.
-
Yep, having the same FPS issues on Tangled Shore specifically, ever since BL released. While I am usually comfortably over 100 FPS everywhere else in the game, the new Override on Tangled Shore is especially horrible, with my frames dropping to 40 FPS and less (it feels like 15 FPS most of the time). Almost unplayable. Also on an AMD system.
-
Sad story: My 3900x + rx 6700 xt gets the exact same performance as your pc that is 2 tiers down. I have a dozen other newer games that play beautifully, like the druids ACV dlc, so try that and enjoy the heck out of it (I am). Bungie has shown zero signs that they care, for example, this issue is many many months old. I strongly feel we have been ripped off by paying for season pass on a technically broken game.
-
3 RepliesYes, same here. I also have an AMD build. My FPS drops from 100+ to 30-45 on Tangled Shore and it's particularly bad in the Override mission on Tangled Shore. This FPS drop has been present since BL released.

Edited by cslyde: 5/25/2021 10:46:38 PMR5 2600, RX 580 on the latest drivers here, I usually hover around 85 fps at 1080p/medium settings; my freesync monitor smooths out a lot of fps drops, but in pure numbers I rarely drop below 60...now I'm getting a very choppy 35-45 on the shore, especially in Override. I've never had great performance on the Tangled Shore but this is definitely the worst it's ever been for me, feels like enemies are lagging just enough that I can't get a clean shot (more than just the teleporting around they've been doing the past few seasons)
-
Exactly the same 5700xt runs everything on high/ultra over 100fps apart from Destiny 2 tangled shore which performs worse than my ps4.... only been waiting for a fix for this since beyond light came out. Makes it painful doing any activity on the TS.
-
Yeah. Ryzen 5600x and rx 6700xt. This weeks Override runs at 40fps no matter what I try. Personally I am warming up the old PS4 Pro to continue this weeks bounties as clearly my super computer can't match my 5yr old door stop.... (@Bungie.....).
-
3700X+5700XT same issues. And I reinstall my windows system still no fix.
-
40 FPS here too, at 1440p max settings, 176 FPS cap. 3800X + 6800 XT, 32 GB DDR4 3600 CL16.
-
below 50 fps on tangled shores override mission CPU 5950x , GPU 6900 xt the issue right now from Bungie side not AMD as the new driver fixed a lot of issues
-
Edited by Oxbow: 5/26/2021 9:46:36 AMSame problem here. Setup: Cpu. Ryzen 5 3600 Gpu: Radeon 5700 XT Memory: 3000 mhz ddr4 Settings are on 1440p and everything high. Normally run everything at a stable 90 fps but in this mission it just tanks to 40fps... Pls fix the overall performance on amd gpu's.
-
Yes, my biggest disappointment with destiny 2 in general. rocking Ryzen 7 5800X, 6800 xt, 64 gb and sometimes I even get low as 28 fps in override... Even after so long either AMD/Bungie haven't found a way to optimize this crap...
