I'm Finnish and I get matched with people from United States, Middle-East and Asia.

Please ajdust the matchmaking to prefer local areas!
Hint: EMEA is not a local area. It's a marketing zone.

4 RepliesSorry choom but it’s simple math... there’s not enough players.
-
SBMM is not functioning properly either for the same reason - low population
-
6 RepliesIt's the low player population, it should improve with cross play. IMHO... They really need to go back to SBMM so that the casual player base comes back.

10 RepliesEveryone still with the sbmm and cbmm debate here’s the truth. Neither works. Neither. The population of pvp has ALWAYS been EXTREMELY problematic in both cases. With cbmm, the lower tier leaves. Skill gap gets higher as time goes on. The purpose of cbmm (better connections, faster loading into matches), stops functioning as time goes on. It’s forced to “cut corners,” to find players to match you as quickly as possible. Players from other countries, with typically worse connections. As the season continues, players leave faster as the skill gap increases to grow as more of the lower tier leave. Said problems increase dramatically. When anew season hits, problems lessen, but the time frame for this is actually, despite what you think, is EXTREMELY short (I estimate maybe a month). Problems appear quickly and the process restarts. With sbmm, the problems seen here are reversed (somewhat). The higher tier leave instead. Load times are SIGNIFICANTLY longer (for most players). Lag is in every game. Some games it’s every person. High tier continues to leave, leaving pvp for players under average and below, while everyone above has to deal with, INCREDIBLY long load times, stacks, incredible lag, cheating, ddosing, it goes on and on. But more importantly, the population WILL eventually drop low enough where the game will (again) cut corners where the remaining skilled population will be eventually continually matched with the remaining low skilled players, allowing them to dominate the lobby. It still will become the same as before. This is the truth everyone. Neither sbmm or cbmm will EVER work if the population of pvp isn’t high enough to sustain itself.

I created a poll here. If anyone cares maybe Bungie will look at stats. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/258659777?sort=0&page=0

1 ReplyEdited by SuperAngrySnowman: 4/4/2021 6:27:04 PMStop treating this and talking about the quality of the connections we get as CBMM vs SBMM.. If you want actual change with the quality of the connection ask for Ping or Location Based Matchmaking. Once you have that, then you can worry about the Skill Level of who you are playing. Right now there are no Lobbies being created without people from every continent being added. No where did the original poster complain about what skill their opponents had only that He lives in Finland and the opposition was from North America, When compared to other A list titles. Destiny feels like crap. If you want that to change be clear about what you actually want. Some Bungie guy wil skim through the posts and think "Oh they are going on about SBMM vs CBMM... They'll never be happy with anything we do... Moving on..."
-
It's laughable if you ask me. During the last Iron Banner, I saw a bunch of players teleporting around. Bad connections. CBMM is a myth.
-
19 RepliesPlayer pool is too low for and MM to work correctly. Maybe Bungie should have removed the fun for the average player and they'd still be here. Now the high level players are complaining that cbmm is acting like sbmm. Lol they'll never learn.

Stop playing crucible. Bungie isn't going to address the dumpster fire until there's no one feeding the flames.

2 RepliesThe competitive mode are still SBMM. The casual modes are CBMM. With a dwindling population neither are going to work well.

After actually playing the game (some of you really should try it out) over the course of the last few weeks I can report that everyone is getting what they want. Never has the game worked like it has in some instances and in the ones where it doesn't that's most likely because that's what they have to do to get it to work correctly. I have enough player names memorized and can look at stats in such a way that I can tell that the game is capable of doing things now that its never been capable of doing before. Not being arrogant or trying to say I know things that people don't, but the amount of playtime I have has got to be worth something. Or at least that's what I tell myself to get over the shame. You all have been put on notice. If you haven't seen it yet the magic is most definitely coming. If you can't tell yet then there's probably a much less ridiculous reason than you think for that. The sky is basically going to be the limit compared to what was possible before.

niether is the walk function . i just stop on a stupid rock.

3 RepliesThey match people with similar gear, emblems, names, etc; I don't think they really care about connection or skill disparity. I believe there was an article that mentioned Bungie and other studio that do this to push microtransactions, no really.
-
5 RepliesCBMM is a massive lie. My wife and I game in the same room and we will almost never find each other if we search separately.
-
1 ReplyYep, im finnish too and in some crucible games people are just rubberbanding like crazy. Also gambit is a rubberband fest where the mobs also warp around..
-
3 RepliesEdited by SuperAngrySnowman: 4/3/2021 9:00:35 AMOut of curiosity, I'm new to this forum. How many posts on Matchmaking quality show up in the feedback forum? As far as ping and connection go.. Alot of people get all weird about SBMM vs CBMM and focus on that like it's the reason we have bad connections. It's not. Purely connection wise and ping, how many people complain?
-
I'm in sweden and I met a sweat stack of brazilians. Overall I don't recommend it as I am a fan of walls that actually provide cover and bullets not passing through them.
-
6 Replieswelecome to destiny, only 1 game in 10 are cool.
-
Consider that perhaps connection only match matching has killed most of the lower and middle player engagement. Thus you match with whomever remains.
-
Freelance should be SBMM Everything else CBMM
-
3 RepliesPeople all complained when it was skill based so it's bad both ways
-
3 RepliesThey need to add a tighter ping limit to their matchmaking. Or a toggle switch if people don't want to wait longer for games. I don't understand why Bungie, a company who has had peer to peer for almost 20 years, doesn't have this option. It's lazy, and easily fixed.
-
For what I can remember, neither the CBMM, nor the SBMM ever worked properly in D2.
-
2 RepliesThe real question is how do you think they are really matchmaking.... Do you believe connection is the first variable.... If so what does that say about player count.
-
1 ReplyConnection based when there's no dedicated server means you will play against people around the world with decent connection....but again it's only try to match with good connection ....
-
2 RepliesThis has always been an issue with this franchise, no matter what matchmaking preferences they have active. Thanks to P2P, the connections are questionable at best even when everybody in the lobby is European, and you regularly play people from all over the world which makes it even worse.
