I just leave mine at 9. I’d rather masterwork three good legendaries over 1 “normally” average Exotic.

Indeed. Unless it’s like absolutely vital for my build (or I just happen to magically have extra shards lying around, which is virtually never), I tend to just keep exotics at 8-9.
