PVP is not enjoysble for lower skilled players now

I used to enjoy PVP a lot, I was matched with other similar skilled players and had great games and poor games but it balanced out overall. I am currently about to quit iron banner (which I’ve always loved) because the teams are too onesided. When you get mercied over half of your games and just get slaughtered, it’s no fun and not worth the crap rewards. Please come up with a better matchmaking system, this is t working.

  • Literally the worst PvP of any current FPS. Just remove it from the game, and focus on what's important. Story.

    • Cbmm > sbmm Currently, every playlist has a modified form of sbmm which is better than true sbmm but it doesnt protect below average players.

      • SBMM needs to come back to rumble, IB, and at least one of the two 6v6 playlists. Theres no reason for everything to be CBMM, there needs to be a mix to please as many people as possible otherwise people will stop playing and the game WILL die. Those of you who can only have fun by steamrolling people who will never be as good as you will run out of people to steamroll. I have a 2 KD, 3 KA/D, and will soon have 200,000 crucible kills and I regularly play private matches with tournament winning players. I am no stranger to the idea of pubstomping and how fun it is to just hop on, chill and turn your brain off and still do well because that has always been me. But our ability to hop on and drop 40 kills without trying comes at the cost of the experience of the 6 people on the other team who are trying to do bounties, chill with friends or whatever. And I hate to break it to you but they are the majority. Their opinion matters more than ours. If you do not comprimise then, again, the game will die and NO ONE can have fun. If you miss the "glory days" of CoD and Halo where you would go in and get shit on and want to improve instead of complain about matchmaking then that sucks for you because the paradigm has shifted. People don't care about getting better anymore especially considering this is not a PvP game. They find it unacceptable when they are forced into these lobbies and they stop playing. The numbers speak for them. A comprimise has to be made. The top 5% having fun at the cost of the other 95 is unacceptable.

        • The fact is that skilled players hate playing against people as good as them and there will probably be several posts on this thread (which I can’t be bothered to read) along the lines of “I don’t want to be at my best all the time just to have a casual game, I hate SBMM!”. Oh the f****$$ irony. As for the Git gud brigade, I’ve been playing since D1 and I’m average to below average and I haven’t gotten that much better. That’s just Mother Nature. I used to play guitar and practice hours a day and never became Eddie van Halen. Just in case anyone’s forgotten, it’s a video game. It’s supposed to be fun for everyone who plays. When I played rugby I didn’t walk in one Saturday to find we were playing the All Blacks instead of Swindon 3rd’s.

its bad as its no mercy after no mercy. it seems to put the weaker players on the same team. so you just get batter. cannot complete bounties and you have no chance of getting any better either. its another failed part of this poor game from a poor games producer played 10 games of IR today won 1 game and lost 9 which 7 were no mercy its just not worth playing anymore. no fun and as the IR bounties you have to lower your lights makes this impossible to do without playing 2 days solid for one character edit: played 5 more games 0 wins and 5 loses 4 no mercy. its stupid. finally completed one of the bounties and game in no light as primary weapon when dying for new arms or class item. great (slow hand clap)

          • I only returned to Destiny a couple of months ago. After a two year + hiatus. I thought that Iron Banner was skill based matchmaking, but now realise it was removed. As mentioned by pretty much everyone, most games do not go the distance. This is a failure, which I'm hoping cannot be argued against. That mechanic was supposed to be a safety net, not used in 9 out of 10 games. The teams are so mismatched most of the time. If you enter Iron Banner with a team of five or six. Tough luck, you should expect to wait a long time until you are matched with an equally sized team. Teams of two should be evenly matched between the two teams. However, a compromise on the two would be for winning teams to stay together and play other winning teams, losing teams get broke up and play each other. How hard of a concept is that to implement. It does say that is breaking teams up, but it doesn't do it very well, and two games later its the same teams. Most likely because the player base is so low, because casuals get tired of getting stomped and quit as soon as they get two of the bounties (or earlier). Don't get me started on the stasis fest. No other skill freezes you in place. In PvP its game over. Did they even consider how broken this would be, that you have to use stasis to compete? TLDR. Yep, the match making is broken.

I see you are a Warlock main. Have you tried using Thorn and Necrotic Grips in PVP? I’m not sure about anyone else but this combo claps cheeks and I am by no means a sweat lord or Crucible God. With IB, just do Freelance and stick close to your teammates. It isn’t a guarantee you won’t get stomped but you can usually walk away with some pretty good bounty progress and a few kills.

          • The only reason I’m not for it coming back is connection times and stability along with the fact not many of the people I play with are amazing or good at pvp so I don’t want my sbmm to effect them which would be being paired with people on my skill that is much higher skill bracket than my friend’s thus creating a not so fun experience for them which takes away the point of playing with friends

          • Honestly the way I think of sbmm is the top % of players don't like trying in crucible so they want connection based, but the lower skill players who make up the majority of the game want sbmm so they don't get stomped all the time. If I am a game developer I am thinking will it look better if all the newer players are playing more or if all the veteran good players are spending slightly less time on the game. It probably looks better to investors to have more new players spending time, instead of new players leaving the game because they aren't having fun getting stomped. I would always have my game on sbmm to draw in new players. Like cod who cares what ur vets are saying they are gonna play anyway how can we draw in the new crowd and try to get them to stay.

            • If you're low skill you can then eventually be mid skill and then high skill. Quitting early because losing isn't fun doesn't do anything except gatekeep yourself from getting better.

I won a lot of matches last night, got a lot of 'we rans', after that i lost even more. As long as i can stay 1.0 or higher im satisfied with the results of any match. I love it the most when im the only positive kd of my team.

              • I simply quit matches until I get an enjoyable one. The rewards are crappy so no lose in just leaving a match.

              • Grab a couple friends. And go into a private lobby. Practice with a bunch of different weapons or builds. Learn your angles, and lanes. You will get better.

                • I'm a mediocre crucible player. If you look at my stats you see I win less than half my games and my number of kills is low. I am trying but there are way better players than me. I play to get rewards and complete bounties and get xp for the season pass. Right now in IB I am under levelled but I still play and it will take me longer to complete the quest and bounties but it is what it is. Overall I still like IB cause the gear is some of the best in the game. Hang in there.

It’s all going concording to plan 😂🤣 - old

Agreed, I solved my problem by stopping playing PvP. If I think that something's terrible and I keep playing, then that sends out the message that I'm actually happy with it the way it is. The best way for people to let Bungie know they dislike something is to stop participating in the activity. The bonus is that by no longer playing the activity that was causing anger/frustration you also feel happier.

                    • Matchmaking is a hard thing to balance with just how many players of different skill levels there are. We've gone through the SBMM vs CBMM so many times through Destiny's lifespan that I've lost count. If everything is SBMM, lower-skilled players get to face closer opponents but higher skilled players complain about sweating every game. With CBMM, higher skilled players get to stomp but lower-skilled players get slaughtered. Right now, I'm pretty sure only Trials and Comp have SBMM while everything else has CBMM. The problem is that most higher skilled players don't want to have a challenge and would rather pub stomp. Do you see the problem? No matter what, someone will be unhappy. So unless someone comes up with a better solution than what's currently in-game, there really is no point in complaining.
