There is an issue with the warlock melee range nerf, its now so short it is actually a problem to use.
By the time you are close enough for the stasis melee to actually reach an enemy you will actually perform the normal lunge and hit melee rather than the ranged stasis melee.

1 ReplyYep. If they’re not going to undo the range nerf, they should just change the charges melee into a freeze that is applied on contact. Most of the time I’m li going and slapping in PVE now anyways. To trade off for the range just give a bit of a radius boost to the ice explosion when you hit a target, so it still can snap freeze other enemies if they’re close enough.

Nerf to freeze time fully agree with warlocks have more freeze capabilities Projectile speed nerf again acceptable and warranted IF the range was still there pretty much a non issue with the nerfed range. Super duration again warranted besides was minimal and still has great potential. Nerf to damage against bosses in pve a little overdone feels like it does even less damage than dawnbreaker for pve now (haven't checked numbers just feels weaker imo). Over all the nerfs were needed for balance but the range nerf seems a little over the top imo. Hunters while sure needing 2 kamas to freeze can be fired off in rapid succession pretty much ensuring it AND without any range restriction AND can bounce around corners/off walls (not saying it needs a nerf btw it's perfectly fine just comparing,) Freeze duration nerf is justified due to the warlocks ability to chain freeze opponents, the other classes have much lower freezing capability.

I'm a Titan main, but after playing my Warlock to get the second Aspect for Shadebinder, yeah. That melee nerf was a bit much.

The super looks really cool but hits like pillow in a UFC cage fight. Not only does the melee range suck, but the time it freezes is so short most of the time, the combatant unfreezes before I can get back to weapon every goddam time. The grenades are relatively the best option, but that's not saying much. Basically everything about Warlock stasis is poo poo.

7 RepliesAgreed. The big issue was the freeze duration; with that nerfed, the melee should have been left alone. But, you know how Bungie works. They always have to go too far whenever they are "adjusting" things. Especially warlocks.

Yup, its happening to me a lot now. I also happen to use the ophidian aspects because its my favorite exotic but unfortunately it also extends melee range which is only making the stasis melee worse.

I would gladly have insta-freeze changed to freeze over time if the range had even half of its nerf reverted. Even goddamn Ball Lightning flies further and it's objectively the worst range ranged melee due to no utility or additional perks.

I agree, it’s could use a bit of a buff to higher range. If they don’t think that it does though I could live with it at least being changed so that it activates when used no matter how far away the enemy is like some other melee abilities.

2 RepliesI agree, after playing it in both PVP and PVE, I think the range should be adjusted to at least 22 to 24 meters. Because it does not activate from 0 to 6 meters, so currently you only have about a 10 meter rand to work with.

Im all down with the all the other nerfs. The speed, blast radius, and freeze duration nerfs were warranted for sure and actually made the melee pretty balanced. The range was not the problem though. They need to revert the range nerf and keep the other nerfs. I think it would be perfect then.

For PVE it needs a bit more range or need to override the melee lunge. There's not enough room between the to at them moment, I end up just slapping people when I want to launch my new close range melee.

I just want 4m added on and the frost bolts and all other freeze abilities on warlock that got nerfed should be bumped up to 2-2.25 seconds or they should do more damage when freezing targets or leave a chilled effect on frozen targets when they get unfrozen these changes would be to match the lethality for having longer cooldowns.

It's made the class clunky and frustrating to play at times. Seeing your orb die right before a group of enemies is annoying, lunging for a melee is even worse. No way that was tested.

Most people used it at 16m or less anyway because it was the best way to get a freeze. All this nerf did was negatively affect PvE. I’d be fine with it getting brought up to 22ms or even just completely undoing the melee range/speed nerf and just let it be at 28m.

This was the most noticeable change that stood out during the raid. Why they reduced it by 43% to 16m instead of 25% to 21m is dumbfounding. The seeker change was noticeable as well because enemies would move 2 steps and it would fizzle out and miss them.

I hate this so much. I am constantly doing a normal melee now rather than the Penumbral Blast just cause I want to make sure I'm close enough so that the melee actually makes contact. Like the melee speed and freeze duration already got nerfed heavily for PvP, why nerf its range so much? Feels so annoying now in PvE. And before any PvP guys come in, listen, if you can't dodge a slow as molasses melee bolt coming at you from 26 meters away of which has no tracking then I'm sorry you kinda deserve to be encased in ice.
