While in IB, Iwas using the top tree Warlock arc super twice this last match against a spectral blade hunter and then again against a top tree arcstrider hunter. I was electrocuting them both (two different instances) for 2 seconds before they even had a chance to hit me. I got killed both times. I was also even at 1060 power and they were in the lower to mid 1050s.
This is infuriating! Bungie, why the -blam!- have you allowed these Warlock supers to become so weak?! You AREN’T LISTENING!! We want BALANCE! We don’t want SOME players to be favored to win duels while others are NOT favored!!!!!

Player error. If you use your blink on top tree properly, you’ll easily beat melee supers, the only one that can be tricky is FoH and that’s because it can lunge fast and far meaning two blinks are needed. Stormcaller isn’t really meant to be used to kill other supers, that doesn’t mean it can’t. Either way, no buff needed. Warlocks are in a good place on most elements - void excluded.
-
1 ReplyStormcaller is not a good super versus super super 😅(so many supers) But even then it only takes 4 ticks to kill other supers.
-
One thing is top tree has ionic blink which makes you highly mobile so you shouldn’t lose to a spectral blades because you can maintain range by blinking and shocking out of their range as they desperately spam swipe. Also it doesn’t do a lot of upfront damage but the benefit it the range, and the crazy chaining. It’s not as good of a super as say dawnblade top tree overall which has the great mobility is aerial does more damage, but also the projectiles can be avoided and it’s pretty bad inside or in close quarters, so stormtrance still has a lot of good things going for it.

I was electrocuting them both (two different instances) for 2 seconds before they even had a chance to hit me. I got killed both times.
That wouldn't have happened if you had used the blink that the tree gives you. Practice makes perfect.

3 RepliesEdited by AdligerAdler: 10/2/2020 6:05:27 PMDoes Landfall not kill a Guardian? Recently I used Landfall on a Guardian for my first time. Expected to kill him. He survived and I died an embarrassing mid super death.

I agree I don't play warlock often but I know lightning super does need a buff. How can I go all Emperor Palpatine on Guardians if I'm using a super that only tickles them.
-
8 RepliesThey need to scrap nova warp and give us lance bomb back. It's obvious they don't care to make it worth using, and it's a waste of subclass space.
-
Bottom tree is terrible. 3 nodes centered around a damn rift.

1 ReplyEdited by Azrael-Symphony: 10/2/2020 5:44:28 PMNot a BUFF, they need to Revert the Nerfs that have been Layered on Warlocks Classes in General. As the Mage I should be capable of walking through a battlefield, controlling it. That's the definition of a Battlemage. Not this weak af I'm gonna tickle u with my Lightening.

12 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 10/1/2020 4:15:24 PMYou didn't die because Stormtrance is underpowered (it is in PVE). You died because you made bad decisions. Stormtrance is a CROWD-CONTROL super that does its damage over time. It doesn't do its damage quickly enough to be an effective SHUTDOWN super. So if you decide to challenge another players super with it, you're going to lose that fight almost every time. ...and good player is going to press that advantage. One of my favorite PVP moments as a Titan was luring another Warlock into a trap where the thought he was going to get an easy kill against two of us on a control point. I let him come in until **just** before his lightning was about to touch me....then I activated Fist of Havoc, instantly killed him....and won the match. As a Warlock main I knew he had NO chance of winning going up against FoH super on super....and lured him into a very easy kill. Stormtrance is only effective when used to ambush players who are either dont' have heavy, or don't have access to a super that does higher burst damage. Used **properly**, Stormtrance is actually quite powerful in PvP. But you have to thoughtful in how you use it. If you want to challenge other supers, then you need to play as a different subclass.
-
1 ReplyWere you using ionic blink to move or just standing there, because that makes a huge difference....
-
11 RepliesUser error. That's like a spectral complaining that they lost to a nova bomb. Some supers are better at fighting other supers. Stormcaller is for add clear.
-
They need to replace a jump and give blink to the arc subclass I'd use it more.
-
Storm caller has never been good at killing other supers, even from back in D1. Stormcallers have always been best used against players with no supers on them and if you do happen to pop your super, you have to seriously keep your distance using the blink as much as you can and attack only when you have enough distance. If you want a better super that helps deal with other supers then go dawnblade

1 ReplyEdited by Swiftlock: 10/2/2020 7:21:29 PM
using the top tree Warlock arc super twice this last match against a spectral blade hunter and then again against a top tree arcstrider hunter
Well there's your problem. You're using the super wrong. Stormtrance is very bad at dueling other roaming supers. Instead, pop Stormtrance as your team is attacking an objective. Let your teammates draw incoming fire while you zoom in and go for the wipe. NEVER pop Stormtrance hoping to take down an opposing super without support from your team. If you want to blow up roaming supers, then roll Nova Bomb. Or just use top tree Dawnblade and outmaneuver everything.
-
You literally could have blinked away and killed them. How is that the supers fault
-
Um... get gud? Lol
-
1 ReplyYeah, at the very least storm needs a reduction in super cost from blinking. It has very low damage resistance which forces you to utilize blink and run out very fast. It would be nice if it did slightly more damage to other supers as well. It would be fine if the Hunter and Titan supers didn’t have absolutely reta**** hit registration on their melee attacks, but they do, so storm needs more damage since maintaining distance is much more difficult to pull off in comparison to the other player mashing buttons on their controller.
-
I agree. Have fun reading why literally every other roaming super should be stronger than stormtrance because that's all anyone else is gonna say.
-
4 RepliesLol, you misspelled warlock void supers...... novawarp and bottom tree novabomb would like a word.
-
2 RepliesCompletely agree. Stormcaller top tree for sure is awful. I use it a lot, and I have gotten some kills in Crucible, but that's only when up against those who aren't in their super. I'd once electrocuted the f*** out of a Hunter, who then proceeded to pull out Arcstider and ko'd me ALL WHILE I was shocking him. I don't need to it be OP, but at least leveled with the other roaming supers. I always have to get void/solar and I don't like using those.
-
10 RepliesEvery Warlock subclass is underserved. There is no class that has a good neutral game AND super.
-
Spectral and middle tree arc staff are just broken supers IMO
-
Warlock arc supers are only there to get arc kills for some bounties as soon as you are done with the bounties you are back to solar or nova bomb.
-
I haven't had any issues with Stormcaller, if you are dying, I recommend using Ionic Blink a bit more. Also, you don't need to be right next to someone to kill them, you have the upper hand by being able to kill at a distance. Sounds like user error to me.
