Let's Set the Record Straight About Crucible

This community is the reason everyone is crying about the meta every time the sandbox changes. Last time it was HCs. Now it's autos. You want balance? You damn near had it in year one. But you cried. Cause mah ttk. Imma shootin but he done did the flippity do on me. That's because you missed your shots. There was room for error. You had the opportunity to turn on someone if you could out strafe and outgun them because the ttk was high enough to require consistency. Oh but theysa team shootin. Yep. And they still are today, except now they all have autos that melt you in a split second instead of you having the chance to realize you're outnumbered and get back behind cover. Bungie kicked off D2 with something reminiscent to halo 3. It was incredibly competitive at all skill levels. But you can't land 4 shots in 2 seconds or cross the map in a breath so you cried. Crucible could have gone down a legendary road and you obliterated it before it had a chance to mature. At launch, everything could compete. Scouts were at the top because everyone wanted to play range, but pulses could compete. You could force HC scenarios and they could easily compete. SMGs had a place. Autos had a place. Even swords were used for more than 3 peeking. MIDA ruled trials but it didn't have to. You could still use other weapons and go flawless. Y1 loadouts were unbelievably diverse, you were always dying to something different. (Though, lets be real, uriels was a problem) And now we're in this endless cycle. Next season it will be something else. That's all I wanted to say. And yeah, maybe I am a little salty because I only scrape a 1.1 kd in comp these days. Maybe I am just nostalgic because the Y1 meta allowed me to do double carries. The fact is, nobody cares about crucible anymore. Outside the die hard sweats and the PvE casuals, (which is fine, if that's you) we're all waiting for the next cod and halo. And it could have been so much different with a little patience. Bungie had a vision and we stomped our feet and held our breath until they said "fine." I used to use so many different weapons and archetypes. Now, I haven't taken off my bow in a year. So keep whining. See what it gets you. Or shut your mouth if you can't be constructive and let the developers develop.

The forums are here for players to discuss the game, so if you’re not interested in other players discussing the game then you’re in the wrong place.

      • We are not in an endless cycle because people have an opinion, we are in an endless cycle because Bungie does not know how to balance their own game. They took a couple extra months to work on the next DLC so in November you can come back on here and explain that the extra time they took to develop did not work.

        • Praise. I didn't like the double primary though, much prefer the primary/special/heavy setup but the ttk and balance was much better back then. It seems like they could have easily buffed everything the same to keep the ttk ratios between different guns the same as in early d2 but for some reason they didn't.
