Game loads smoothly to Shadowkeep title screen, starts to load character select menu, then the music stops, hangs on white loading screen for a few minutes, and brings up an error message:
Problem reading game content. Please close Destiny 2, right click on Destiny 2 in the Steam app to run 'VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES...' in 'Properties'. Then restart Destiny 2 to try again.
On pressing OK, game force quits.
I've tried:
-Following instructions and verifying the game cache (3 times)
-Deleting random files in the Destiny 2 directory so that Steam definitely re-downloads things in verification (it does - but the problem persists) (another 3 times)
-Looking for the steam_appid.txt file to delete it, but the file doesn't exist for this game anymore so that fix can't work (I only did this once but I feel like if a file doesn't exist, it doesn't exist)
Game has run perfectly daily, until this evening. No hardware has changed, and I haven't had any Windows updates to break anything since I last played.
I am in the process of redownloading the game on my very slow internet to see if that works, but I'm not hopeful, given verification didn't work six times in a row.
*I know this is in the known issues list updated last month, but I'm posting to add to the pile of tickets showing that the problem still exists. :P
Does anyone have a fix for this? Alternatively, does anyone know if re-downloading 92GB on ADSL is worth it...

3 RepliesHey there! The next time the game crashes, could you paste your DxDiag here? You can find this by doing the following:
• Press (Windows Key + R) to bring up the Run dialog box, enter this command “dxdiag” without quotation marks. • Click on “Save all information”. • Copy the text and use a text dump website (i.e. PasteBin.com) to paste the information. • Create a link and post it here.
Has happened to me 4 times in the last hour. Verifying game files again after deleting everything except the package file. Will try to screenshot if it crashes again.

1 ReplyI noticed this tends to happen when ever I open the Xbox Game bar for Windows 10 while playing Destiny 2. So if you ever did that, try not doing it after a fresh install of the game. I have had this issue for awhile and so haven't others. Bungie has yet to fix it. Only other thing is you might be installing it to a drive that is failing.
