While we haven’t heard much more on this than the initial announcement (either in a Twab or a reveal video, i forget), bungie has mentioned they are gonna move away from bounties as a main source of xp. From my understanding bounties will still be part of the game, will be a bit more generally rewarding, but still give less xp than activity completions

We don't know anything about the new season other than it got delayed imo. Still doesn't stop people hoarding this season. (I'm debating whether to save all weeklies or get the bright dust as I only have 30k left) Either way if they change them or not they should auto complete. I don't see a viable season pass model where there isn't a way to rapidly do bounties. Moon bounties on a tian class takes 16 hours of play per 100 levels (on PC), I doubt activity xp will every come close to that benchmark.

True. I would like to see bounties go to the D1 model, or something similar. They didn’t feel like a chore and were fairly easy to mass complete, on top of that there was the chance for exotic blunties
