Is sunsetting gear really that bad?

I find it hard to get upset about it because I know a newer weapons will come out that I will immediately replace with what I’m currently using. Through the whole time this games been out, I’ve never stuck to keeping the same weapons (Obviously a certain Rocket launcher stayed) lol I’m not huge into the whole “god roll” weapons and I really just focus on gameplay. When it comes to weapons, I use what I like. It has to look good and preform well with how I play. I obviously have perks I like, but I don’t need specific perks in order to enjoy the gun. I get it’s annoying to grind all over again for a weapon, but is it really that big of a deal knowing a new weapon will come along you’ll replace that weapon with? And honestly, it only really affects those who care about god rolls. Too that, I’d say to not get so connected to a weapon. Have fun playing around with new things, switch it up. We’ll just have to suck it up until the new expansions released. If you don’t want too, then stop playing for a little bit. A break from this game every once and awhile really helps make the game feel fresh when you return. Overall, I don’t really care because I know I’ll find something more interesting and immediately throw the gun I was using into my vault. Things don’t have to be the best in order for you to enjoy this game. I mean I can’t even hold all the weapons I’d like too because I find so many interesting and fun. I don’t know if people agree, my point was just to say that it’s really not that bad. The only thing I’m keeping an eye on is how they handle taking away some content and incorporating the old content in. I get the game can get tedious sometimes, but either sit back and just enjoy it, or take a break for a bit.

  • Well there's 2 points which I like to stand on when it comes to this 1 - People put in EFFORT for their good shit. Pinnacle/Ritual quests being an outlier. Remember the Luna's howl stages? The pre nerf Mountaintop quest? Hell even RANDY'S THROWING KNIFE was a pain in the ass to get. And don't even get me started on god rolls. What about RAID weapons? 3 times a week AT BEST you have a shot at getting what you want. And if this continues. We'll be seeing a whole lot more of players getting frustrated that the raid weapon they got didn't have their perfect perks. Especially with the clock now ticking before it becomes mundane like everything else. 2 - Reissues. So not ONLY are Bungie invalidating the effort WE put in, they're also just slapping them back on with a new symbol. Gnawing hunger, Bad Omen, just to name a few all for us to grind ALL OVER AGAIN. Once should be ENOUGH

  • No sunsetting in theory isn’t that bad. However sunsetting weapons and re-releasing them is full on bs. Sunsetting = fine Sunsetting to rerelease is not fine !

    • The more casual you are, the less you care about sunsetting.

      • Imbrace the power creep you will never defeat it only yourself... If its broken like a shotgun with 20 meter range then fix it but if its just nasty then it's nasty... If your bored using it use something else cus I'm shore other people haven't gotten bored of it yet most don't even have it yet... Remember how we reacted last time bungie told us how to play... It almost killed the game... The only way I'd be OK with sunsetting is if the sunset weapons were unnerfed like Lunas howl returning back to being a 180 after its sunset.

      • Armour sunsetting is the worst. Armour doesn’t cause power creep, there’s no reason for it to be sunset. Bungie just want us to spend more hours in the game, and force you to use weapons you don’t want to. (Seasonal champion mods)

      • You missed the point entirely as to why people are upset. Bungie is capping our gear and re-issuing the exact same gear with the exact same perks. It's the least imaginative, most inconsiderate way to extend the grind. That's pretty bad. It's a valid complaint.

        • I believe the problem is on its execution. There are more reissued weapons than there are new ones. The reissued weapons seem to be an eyesore due to having to re farm the same weapon with no new perks. It also doesn't help we are doing the same thing over again to get to new content...

          • We’ve already seen the typical Bungie dlc ideas, very cool ideas on paper, but very shit execution, from what the community is “saying” is they accept sunset it’s whatever at this point, what they don’t wanna to get is the same weapons with no new perk pools
