Considering the changes are already in place, this is probably pointless... But I need to say how hard I find it to agree with legendary weapon retirement. The only people who benefit from it are influencers who literally play the game for a living... The players that grind all the new content day one, and are tired of the game before the first reset. Regular players that have a life outside of Destiny, but really enjoy the game are being punished. We don’t earn rewards as fast as Youtubers, and when we actually do complete a strenuous quest for a great weapon (Recluse, Mountaintop, Buzzard, Loaded Question, etc...) it feels like an amazing accomplishment. Bungie is taking away the value of that accomplishment by limiting the activities we can use those weapons in. Each weapon in our arsenal has personal value, and we grow to love our own particular load out to cater to our own particular play style. I’m not bored with Recluse because I don’t stream 8 hours a day, 6 days a week. And I’m proud of the fact that I went outside of my comfort zone and grinded competitive pvp to earn it. I don’t have a Mountaintop, because I use grenade launchers sparingly and I don’t wanna use lfg to cheese my way to a pinnacle reward. However, I am earning it, slowly but surely, only for it to be irrelevant in endgame content after this season. Why should a huge fan of the game be penalized and have their personal arsenal limited, just to cater to a small selection of the fan base? What’s done is done, but I would feel some type of way if I didn’t voice my opinion on this issue. And even tho Bungie won’t see this, and furthermore won’t care, I feel like this is a huge mistake. Don’t take away what we’ve worked hard to earn. It takes a lot away from the game that I’ve been playing for the last 6 years and leaves a sour note when thinking about the future of the game.

1 Replyyou do realize content creators are the only members of the community they care about right? just look at how they talked up how great grandmaster nightfalls would be to "watch"....that says it all 99% of the playerbase only matters as far as u buying silver and buying the next season pass/expansion, beyond that u dont matter at all to bungie and u never have
-
1 ReplyInfluencers and content creators are the advertisement arm of Bungie. Of course they are going to make changes to benefit that specified group. It is one hand washing the other.
-
3 RepliesI'm not even gonna read this.. you're title of your post makes you look like an asshat. Sunsetting is needed to keep the game fresh because using the same primary and special for a year and a half isn't healthy for the game. It's the same boring gunplay EVERY WHERE. It gives reasons to grind in an mmo. Which is funny because this game is an mmo. Wow. Crazy. Grinding in a loot based grind for loot form of game? Fresh playstyles and gunplay are needed Mr mtn top, recluse. Suck it up and grind in a grindy game or play something else asshat
-
1 ReplyI literally don’t know WHO it benefits, honestly.
-
6 RepliesLono was cheering up for sunsetting now look who he turned out to be. This is the true face of people who cheer for sunsetting.
-
2 RepliesTo be fair Bungie shouldn’t cater to people who don’t have time to play the game. They should cater to the people who play the most. That’s just smart business IMO.
-
reeeeeeee streamers bad bongo forum omniscient
-
3 RepliesI don't think it benefits anyone at all. I get we have a hate boner for streamers/youtubers, but this doesn't grow their audience, so net net it's a loss in revenue for them unless they diversify
-
1 ReplyIt's not just Destiny, it feels like the whole industry is catering to "influencers" these days. I guess it's easier to make a game that appeals to a small group of people that have thousands of fans that will play whatever their influencer does, than it is to make a game that appeals to a wide audience. It also seems to me that the formula for an influencer game is pretty simple. 1) Include rewards that are sexy as hell but require a time commitment that precludes most casual players, which then lends it self to easy content creation for the influencer. 2) Include a competitive mode with a skill gap wide enough that will allow players who spend incredible amounts of time with the game to completely dominate anyone who doesn't - which then leads to easy content creation for the influencer.
-
10 RepliesYou mean youtubers and streamers. You know the people who ruin every single game they touched.
-
7 RepliesSunsetting pinnacles is fine, they obviously broke the balance of the game. But sunsetting weapons to release the exact same weapon with the exact same rolls is absolutely stupid. That’s not ‘aspirational’ content, what they claimed to have done it for. They’ve created an artificial grind, making this game into a literal chore. Sunsetting will do nothing but hemorrhage arguably the largest player base of the game. My clan has been absolutely dissipated by sunsetting.
-
4 RepliesI don't even know if it would actually. I mean, did you see Cammy's new take on Destiny to him, no more god roll chasing, just weapons that work since he really doesn't need god-tier shit; spend more time on Phantasy Star Online 2. I'd say it doesn't benefit him, a high level PvP streamer that no longer has interest in chasing amazing loot as it's freaking pointless. I mean, if I was one, I'd still be hard against it as I am now.

1 ReplyMT and Rep use is gone! The fact that this is the most optimal load out for trying to get flawless solo after a whole damn year and a new dungeon dropping is asinine.
-
2 RepliesRNG and the time it takes to find something has nothing to do with sunsetting. Your whole post is just you taking a stab at a particular group of the player base for no reason. Sunsetting benefits people who get guns faster? It benefits those who make content? You make 0 sense.
-
2 RepliesThere was no value in getting those guns in the first place. Not like I needed any of them to progress. Hell I only got mountaintop because momentum control. Would I have ever gone after it without momentum? Probably not when there were and are alternatives to it. Your voiced opinion is noted but from where I'm sat it's just looking for someone to blame for the changes. Which is squarely at bungie's feet. A few creators even stated Bungie should not cater to them directly. That's when the game truly gets absurdly tough.
-
1 ReplyNo it doesnt. Cammycakes acknowledged that much of his playtime has now been thrown down a well by bungie's decision. He has instead refocused the content of his channel. Also much of the time they(streamers) spent playing was spent grinding activities for God rolls. This invalidates much of the effort they put into the game as much as it does yours.
-
1 ReplyI used to like streamers and content creators but since all the scandals broke out couple of week ago, I view each of them very suspiciously as I don't know what is lurking beneath the screen charm. Bungie has admitted to prioritizing streamers over average Joe player and they will always do that. Grind is always more show time so good for streamers. Since a good portion of them are cheaters in Destiny so I don't think they care about this grind. Endgame content is usually done via hacks so no problem there if you can't die while making a solo flawless video. Bungie has bent their game to the will of streamers for a long time and most of them have abused it (on PC) at the cost of wider gaming community.

1 ReplyEdited by High Noon at Jötunn Saloon: 6/28/2020 1:40:34 AMAren't they all busy sexually harassing women, sharing nudes over discord and ddos'ing at the same time they're whining that cheaters are hurting their ability to make money? F - them - all
-
8 RepliesI understand your frustration however they are giving us an entire year before a given weapon will sunset, that’s a long time. Also streamers & youtubers aren’t the only ones who grind a lot. Maybe Destiny 2 isn’t the game for you if you barely play enough to earn the weapons you want. This game should cater to the hardcore grinders because that’s who the game was built for. Just my opinion.
-
5 RepliesI'm pretty sure it was done to benefit Bungle employees, you know, reducing their workload by 40-60%...because making content is hard.
-
14 RepliesYou can’t just blame everything on the content creators. People like you complain that the weapons don’t feel good and then when they try to fix it with sunsetting you get mad again.
-
Why, they're just gonna talk about the next reskinned mindbender's ambition (or insert your favorite legendary) every 3 or 6 months?, that's really bad for content right? I mean its not like they make 10 minute videos on a single paragraph twab....right?.
-
It's all about the munnies and reselling you stuff without putting any effort. A damn shame the shitlord is running things along with his unworthy nosey sidekick
-
I'm a small streamer. It doesn't benefit me. No, it doesn't even benefit content creators or big streamers. It benefits no one. What it does do for big big streamers who's ONLY job is video games is that it makes it easy for them to re-farm. That's it.
-
5 RepliesI wish I’d been at the huge community meeting where we all decided to start calling these people “content creators.” It’s such a fart sniffing self-satisfying term. Like a pizza delivery person calling themselves mobile culinary experts or something. I’m not even talking about the destiny YouTube people who make 10 min videos about the twab every week. They are actually shooting video and editing etc. Myelin Games and Byf (even though he drives me crazy) are people I would absolutely call “content creators” if I ever used the words. Streaming a video game on twitch is not content creating. That’s not to say it’s easy, you either have to be wildly good at the game or extremely good at talking and entertaining, or both. Some of them are extremely talented entertainers but “content creators” they are not. Dear god why have I wasted all of our time on this who gives a shit lol
