It's not hard with practice. Get some reps in and it should be easy. I've beaten it many times and helped people for fun. So have many others before you and many after. I've also beaten the heroic version where the jump puzzles are harder.
I found hunter jump to be easiest.

I've been at a whole day, both solo and with a fire team. Also, is this quest actually necessary. The difficulty is making me doubt whether it's actually worth the trouble for me.

Making somone else finish it for me just seems kinda underwhelming. I either finish it on my own, or I just leave it. I guess an exotic gun isn't that necessary for me right now.
