This Wednesday, April 29, we’re planning to release Destiny 2 Hotfix 2.8.1.1. This patch will have fixes for bugs that have popped recently, and also has a quick tuning pass for a weapon that’s been shining a little too bright in the Crucible since Season of the Worthy began.
Hard Light, a name that may either strike fear or pure joy in your heart, will be the subject of today’s article. Here are some notes from the team on how this weapon will be tuned come tomorrow morning:
Dev Team: Hard Light has been at the forefront due to a combination of recent adjustments to improve its usability and the adjustments to Auto Rifles that came with patch 2.8.0.
Most of the adjustments coming on Wednesday are to address its usage for mouse and keyboard users since the ability to precisely aim regardless of range allows you to use the weapon at longer distances, on top of being able to use ricochets more effectively.
Although weapons like the Fighting Lion can also do what Hard Light does for indirect fire, they are generally less effective during a direct confrontation. Hard Light boasts a lot of great stats, and its impact grows with more players using it - eventually no cover is safe. As such, we’re reducing some of the aspects that allow for indirect fire and unexpected lethality in odd scenarios, while still retaining some of the bonuses to keep the flavor.
Hard Light
- Hard Light's damage falloff now floors at 0.7x (Auto Rifles use 0.5x standard).
- Split ricochet bonus damage between PvE and PvP.
-- PvE damage remains at 2.0x damage.
-- PvP damage is now 1.35x damage.
- Removed a hidden recoil adjustment that made the weapon more stable than intended.
Stay tuned to Bungie.net for official patch notes, and @BungieHelp on Twitter for updates on our release timeline.

4 RepliesIt is about time. Literally everyone and their grandma was hardlighting-it-up in the crucible. It was stale, boring and predictable. That gun became an eyesore. Not even complaining about getting killed by it, as I even used it myself for a time. Just tired of seeing it.
-
Game is such sh*t now. Jesus guys. I've played since day one. Update. Wait another hour for this to update. It's dying you guys. I love this game. Get busy.
-
Can you guys make an emblem that says "Scrub Lord 2020"
-
Well I don't care what anybody else thinks Bungie has bowed to PVP once again. Auto rifles really aren't that good in PVE either. so you nerfed the hard light in the shortest term buff to NERF again ever. if you were going to make it useless you may as well removed it. now it is gone people still hog the heavy ammo and kill you from 10 feet away with a rocket launcher and people still run around with fusion rifles, people still use sniper rifles on tiny maps because of its one-hit kill. now the only decent auto rifle is something you need to do trials for. will never do that because it is filled with cheats and moneymaking caries. not to mention mod controllers. I will just leave PVP to be the cesspool it is now

Yeah whatever. Game just isnt fun anymore regardless. All you do is put in bounties and grind for little reward.
-
Oh well we had our fun with hardlight👍

Having issues connecting to Destiny servers after Wednesday’s update. Please advise.

30 RepliesEdited by CookieNiki: 4/28/2020 8:46:16 PMAnd here we go. The usual whiners ordered Bungie to nerf Hardlight and Bungie, as an obedient servant of streamers and youtubers, quickly and happily complies with the demand. Nothing can shine in this game, everything must be tamed to boring average standards because of a insignificant minority.
Hard Light - Hard Light's damage falloff now floors at 0.7x (Auto Rifles use 0.5x standard).
Better change the Exotic Perk caption of Hardlight because it states that "rounds fired from this weapon have no damage falloff..." Just to keep your usual transparency checked.
-
How about you just remove Exotic's out of Destiny all together, I mean 95% of them are never used anyway
-
3 RepliesI cant log in now all I get is chicken. I checked my network it's fine. What's going on. I can play other games. My speed test at 260 ?

1 ReplyGreat, love when I get off work and have to deal with copying for an hour. Besides aren't updates always on Tuesday. Dont understand why they can't let us know in game that there is an update tomorrow.

Nerfed another gun 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

This nerf to hardlight was coming regardless of all the youtubers complaining about it now the only exotic ar meta we have now is suros but that too will get nerfed at some point. But i wanna know why in the f'n is this hotfix is 106.03 GB granted i have enough space for the hotfix update but wtf bungie i dont like wating for an half hour max an hour for a damn hotfix update Instead of nerfing shit how about putting stuff in the game is worth grinding for rather then these bounty feast grind
-
Did the crying -blam!- get their nerf? Clap clap clap clap clap
-
I like this. Midseason nerf to a weapon that clearly needed it and you didnt turn the weapon into trash. Nice job bungie take notes.

How many more years until you coding casuals at Bungwei learn how to stabalize your PvP? Nerfs and Buffs are frowned upon and show a lack of skill in developers when theyre done too often...its meant to fix mistakes, but here you have literally made them commonplace because you have absolutely no idea wtf youre doing. You lost the confidence of your customers, your publisher, and next itll be your chinese investor. You guys are a pathetic disgrace to the entire gaming industry. But i hope the Yen was worth it lol.
-
Seriously. That’s it?
-
I wish there was a way you didn't have take an update... I would prefer hard light being a little op compared to the time it takes for an update to finish on ps4*! *this is now auto-correcting as ps5 for me!! It's not even out for pre release, yet my phone has already moved on!
-
So basically it went from Hard Light and Suros to just "SUROS Meta" LOL give it a couple weeks and Suros will be addressed. 🙈
-
2 RepliesSo basically its being nerfed more on PC? The ricochet at ranges wont be as potent? So how does this affect on consoles? Sounds like it wont have much change as long as you are hitting your target and not relying on ricochet rounds. Unless i am missing something? Can someone elaborate that has a better understanding? Thanks

4 RepliesEdited by g_DAta2015: 4/29/2020 6:23:34 PMWhere's the rest of the patch notes. Edit... Notes have been posted now. Thanks!
-
If Bungie is good at anything these days, it’s nerfing. That has always been their bread and butter.

4 RepliesEdited by Nectum: 4/29/2020 6:54:07 AMI wanted to go in depth on how aim assist cone, accuracy cone and zoom work for damage falloff and how this affects accuracy over longer ranges and how this stil affects Hard Light.. There is indeed no damage falloff but it's not like you can land consistent shots over it's intended range within the weapon archetype. But I would probably get flamed down for this...I personally have no issue with this weapon in crucible.. Suros will outgun it, markov chain Monté Carlo will outgun it (try this together with inertia override for a very lethal combination, it's nasty). Is it powerfull? Yes.. Should it be powerfull? Yes, it's a an exotic for crying out loud.. Did I get killed by it? Yes.. Did I get killed more with shotguns? Yes.. I find it sad to see that the nerf hammer is still swinging around.. Bring other weapon archetypes up to par with it instead of taking the nerf approach AGAIN.

1 ReplyMaybe add a "auto dismantle blue gear" button.......?
