Sounds like you found it too hard and are throwing a tantrum. It was GOTY because it was a very good game. You obviously personally didn’t enjoy it but that doesn’t mean the opinions of the many people who did enjoy it are invalid.
There have been plenty of great games that I personally haven’t enjoyed. However I can still put aside my personal opinion and recognise they are good games.

so a game that is incredibly streamlined from its predecessors, regresses in gameplay, and takes away the rewarding aspect of its iconic gameplay makes it goty. [spoiler]yeah no, get the -blam!- out with that[/spoiler] There's no coincidence that this game got goty now that it has a AAA publisher behind it willing to pay for its awards. Dude do you want them to keep making the same game over and over? It’s fine that you didn’t enjoy it - it’s really not for everyone. But you are completely delusional if you think it’s a bad game just because it’s different from the past Souls games. They made this one less of a RPG and more of a straight up action adventure game. To say that the combat regresses is just plain wrong. Its probably the most challenging and refined of all the Souls games. The difference is you can’t just roll out of the way in this game. You have to actually learn the timing of parries and the attack patterns of the enemies. Like I said if you didn’t enjoy it and found it too difficult that’s fine. Not everyone is going to like every game. But I’m sorry but you are very much in the minority with your opinion. It won GOTY because a lot of people thought it was a good game (with good reason).
