Currently there is no strategic reason to use dual primaries in the Crucible, other than novelty or the enjoyment of a wack loadouts.
It would be interesting to see a gameplay incentive for using dual primaries to balance out the loss in damage output per second.
Some ideas:
1. Increased weapon dexterity
2. Slightly increased movement speed
3. Slight ability regeneration on special ammo pickup
And maybe...
4. For a short time after special ammo pickup, ammo is granted to one ally in very close proximity
wut yall think?
Some of my favorites:
Crimson & Prosecutor
Trespasser & Graviton Lance
Cerberus +1 & Annual Skate
Pillager & Le Monarque
edit: ok, maybe being able to switch weapon ranges quickly and always have ammo is enough of a strategic reason... but the special ammo bricks are still on the floor, and the question still stands...

2 RepliesTo be fair, by using double primaries, you deny the special weapon users any more ammo.

1 ReplyI use an energy bow and the last word on my Hunter. I'm still trying to perfect it but the last word comes in handy for apes (still have to be careful) and the bow is my main weapon. (Still trying to get a god roll bow).

1 ReplyVinialla D2 everything was forced double primaries and it almost killed the game entirely. It was universally hated. While it has its advantages already giving out a bonus for using any given load out is wrong. Especially in a PvP environment. Ppl lost their shit over weapon perks, abilities and the artifact. So no.. no more bonuses.

I don't need a handicap in my favor just because I chose to not depend on a special weapon, no thanks.

You are part of the problem

2 RepliesNo more boring loadouts. That's what killed off pvp in vanilla d2

Primaries are underpowered, and dual primaries just means being stuck with two underpowered weapons.
-
I'd like them to make a primary weapons only PvP match type. No special or heavy weapons allowed.
-
There is an incentive: if your squad rocks dual primaries you will starve the other team of their crutch specials.

1 ReplyMy incentive to play with two primary’s is to not give the enemy team special ammo.

There already is. It's called: "Having weapons with plenty of ammo for multiple engagement ranges". Crazy

Edited by BoyarD: 12/11/2019 3:50:05 AMGreatly increase the drop rate on primary ammo when using double primaries. I always find myself running out of ammo *The incentive we already have is to not give out special to the enemy team.

Your teammates get special ammo is what happens.

Dual primaries allow you to deliver sustained DPS or lane coverage without running out of special ammo at each Primary's optimal engagement range. Redrix even lets me take out snipers with quick 2-bursts (TY flinch), while Luna/NF covers closer ranges with quick 3 taps. Sure a shotgun lets you kill faster, but at <10 meters, that' basically a 1-1 trade with the other team if you can't isolate your target.

Edited by Boss_KADA: 12/10/2019 7:26:22 PMI’m working on specific kills in comp so I don’t wanna be additionally useful when dead. No special for the enemy

i like the idea where if you equip two primaries your agility gets something like a +5 increase seeing as the weapons are lighter.

3 RepliesPrimaries lol Real men snipe or shotgun 👍

Blast Furnace and Recluse. Breakneck and Graviton Lance.

Pick up 10 specials and get 1 heavy.

If I'm using an SMG or Sidearm, I almost always pair it with another primary.

3 RepliesIf that means less jotoun BRING IT ON

2 RepliesOr maybe make a game mode for strictly primaries and lock out special.

6 RepliesEdited by Infamous067: 12/10/2019 12:58:05 PMEveryone saying double primary killed vanilla doesn’t know anything about pvp. The reason pvp really sucked back in vanilla was because every primary in the game had a ttk of over 1.5-2 seconds which made the game extremely slow paced and forced players to team shoot or camp in the back of the map with scouts or pulse rifles. At this moment we have weapons with a ttk of .67, if double primaries came back it would hands down balance the game because we no longer have to team shoot or camp to get a decent ttk. Before this one shot meta came, if bungie had only allowed double primaries with the ttk we have now for at least a month then everyone would’ve been happy. There would be true skill to do well and flanking would be just as fun because side arms can kill pretty fast at close range, only reason side arms don’t exist or any smg unless its recluse is because shotguns exist on the secondary and primary slot.
