For those who don't know, FOMO is "Fear Of Missing Out", which is what Bungie is currently doing, it wasn't as bad before shadowkeep, because any content released stayed in the game (mostly, of course there's exceptions like Trials of the nine or whatever). But now, seasonal content is going away and eververse items are insanely hard to get (seriously, just look at some reddit posts that actually calculate how many additional bounties you would have to do to afford everything this season).
Before seasonal events were fine (Halloween, Dawning, whatever) because you could get engrams for those events every level up AND you could delete the duplicate exotics back then which gave you in return bright dust, which isn't the case now. The bounties are ridiculously priced, and if you get a duplicate from an eververse engram well that's just too bad, you just get shafted.
What is even the point of removing the seasonal content, i.e season of undying (which literally happened on the moon) content for this matter, to replace it with Season of the dawn content which is happening on Mercury, do you see the problem here? From context, it doesn't seem like they will interfere with each other so what is the point.
This is FOMO, Bungie, you are preying on people to play now and buy the passes and all this eververse stuff which shows just how greedy you are, it wasn't even this bad with Activision. I used to play a lot, like quite a lot in the Forsaken to Shadowkeep timeline and I managed to get every(mostly) every piece of eververse gear available via bright dust or engram, now? This is impossible. Shadowkeep was supposed to be this glorious expansion Bungie, you gave us all hope and now you pull these predatory methods to squeezing out as much money from your consumers as possible which is disgusting.
Not only are you overpricing the eververse items, you have deliberately made it extremely difficult for anyone to get their "monster killing machine" to look "how the player wants to look" with these ridiculous roadblocks in the way.
TL;DR:
Bungie is preying on the FOMO methods to suck out as much money as possible from the players, such as deliberately messing up the bright dust economy along with the overpricing of eververse items, AND removing content. Bungie, this is disgusting.

1 ReplyFire Luke already. Get someone in their that has a passion for gaming.
-
15 RepliesSimple: Bungie is done with Destiny. They are working on their next game. They are taking the profits from eververse and seasons, etc. and using it to fund their next project. That way they can make it how they want. Problem is. They will lose respect and fans in the process and next game will tank.

1 ReplyAgreed 100% Only no-lifers will disagree with your point. And maybe Datto.

8 RepliesThis is why I didn't buy shadowkeep and won't buy the seasonal content. Bungie explained this content model ahead of time and I based my decision on the fact my schedule does not accommodate it. I love the game but unfortunately my own schedule doesn't fit the content schedule.

Jet Set WillyIt’s all going concording to plan 😂🤣 - old
Bungie sent an email out which said something like ‘don’t fear your enemies, fear missing out’. They know what they’re doing, it’s deliberate. I can check the actual wording of it later. Text of the e-mail is below. The email was sent/received 13th Nov. "JUMP INTO SHADOWKEEP Season of the Undying is in full effect. Now is the best to time to journey into the mysterious Hive Keep, brave the Pit of Heresy, and draw a line in the lunar soil where the Vex shall not pass. • 9/10 - Game Informer • 9/10 - MMORPG • "Destiny 2's haunted new world is great" --Gamespot • "…Shadowkeep offers a fantastic suite of new content." --Polygon Don't fear the Nightmares. Fear missing out. Buy Shadowkeep here. " -

12 RepliesComplete waste of time bud. You’re complaining(rightfully so) to a bunch of fanboys that are ok with paying for less content That’s the level of stupidity you’re dealing with

6 Replies"FOMO" is shorthand for "I'm weak and feeble and cannot control my hopeless devotion". Stop blaming the game and grow up.

8 RepliesFOMO is only applicable in short term content. This season is lasting till, what, April? You can't do everything in the season till April? C'mon dude...

2 RepliesWe apologize that you feel this way. However, we do not feel that this post reflects the opinions of the playerbase as a whole. The purpose of the seasons is to refresh the game and keep it exciting.

4 RepliesEdited by Risky: 12/11/2019 5:32:05 AMOmg bungie is preying on me to get my 60 year game and season pass purchase? Oh woe is me, would a strapping young gamer please save me from this developer’s cruelty! FOMO ain’t got shit to do with content exiting destiny. Content gets old, it gets stale. You play it so many times people decide to move on. Then you have new players come in and feel they have to work their way through the old content and find themselves lost when their alone without a vet to guide them. It creates a bad experience for players. With seasonal content everyone is on the same page; this is what’s going on for everybody. It’s cleaner and provides better focus for development. Especially if you’re looking to continue developing D2 for a few more years before the next sequel. If you’re worried about fomo and how content is fleeting remember that it’s all fleeting, nothing you do in the game will ever matter. When D3 comes out, everything you’ve done will be summed up into a 30 second drawn cinematic. This game is a relaxation outlet, you’re not going to get meaningful personal gain out of it. You want something that’s going to last get a hobby building things.

They screwed up when they removed the way we used to earn bright dust and get Eververse engrams for old seasons and the current season. Bring back prismatic facet too.

Stopped playing November 2018 and returned summer 2019. Missed a lot and yet I haven’t missed anything. Can’t Miss Out when it is all RECYCLED...

5 RepliesEdited by Ether: 12/11/2019 12:55:03 AMI just missed out on the Undying seal by literally less than 1%. I had 99% of it completed and now I've spent all those hours with nothing to show for it. Literally on the last step of the Vanguard quest with 85% strike score done. Now, I'm hearing the seal will never come back which is just pure stupidity. The whole seal even got removed from my Triumphs page. Shit like this only makes me wanna play less, not more. Stop it Bungie, GET HELP.

Only person that can put the fear of missing out feeling in you is yourself. Dont want that feeling, just play the game. If you play the game reg over the course of a season, you'll more than likely get everything in that season (that you can earn by just playing). As for activities, the only reason people act like they want them back is cause they are taken away. When activities are here and something new is introduced, people tend to move on to the new one, while not playing the old one as much. Prime example: forges. For the most part, people werent playing them and had moved on. Bungie condenses them into a daily rotation to decrease matchmaking time for people that actually do them, and people get up in arms asking for the individual forges back. Not cause they want to play them, just cause lol. I say that to say: if you know the new activities will be taken away next season, just play/enjoy them while they are here. Dont wait till they are about to be gone, then complain you didnt get to experience them.

6 RepliesHow about you drop the Victim act Bungie is not to blame for your mental issues and compulsive need to buy all the Eververse crap.

It's alot of garbage gear any way besides the raid and everest stuff . And if u really like destiny im sure players can have time to play

I have absolutely no issue with FOMO but bungie can't even do that right lol, just look at the season pass for example an look at the new armour an the ornaments then compare that to undying it was 1 armour set an a totally unique ornament now look at the dawn set 1 armour set an an ornament set that is the exact same set with a curve item on it, it's pathetic an shows how lazy bungie has gotten. People will white knight bungie saying it's expensive to make content, but it was there choice to do 4 seasons rather than 2/3 content drops if they actually did FOMO right then it would make people buy to get it but they can't even do that right an it's pretty clear they don't care about this game no more an are clearly focusing more on that new IP.

1 ReplyIts the removal of the ability to get the Vex Offensive lorebook that gets me. The lorebooks are such well written stories that really build the universe. I have no idea why Bungie would work so hard to write good stories for their players to read and then remove the ability to read them in game if they missed out. I really hope they dont do this again, and I hope they add in a way to get these lorebooks in the future. (Maybe something like "Lost Lore" bounties from Ikora that give a chance at previous seasons lorebooks)

FOMO only works when people care about what they're missing out on. Oh no, the Vex Offensive and pointless battle pass are going away. Oh wait, I couldn't care any less. They are trying to use FOMO, but when the content you can miss out on is bad, it doesn't work all that well.

15 RepliesToo bad your entire argument goes out the window due to one simple fact: Its all cosmetics. I didnt get the lion ghost shell!? Oh whatever will i do with my 12+ other exotic ghost shells that i barely even use? I didnt get the vex sparrow? I guess ill just have to settle with my broom sparrow now...
