Auto rifle are not properly balanced

auto rifle need to do similar dps to a smg in cqc. i feel that auto rifle need to feel strong, or close to smg in cqc or at ranges. If that sounds op, i suggest that auto rifle need to have a gradual damage drop off from close to mid then long ranges to match other rifles. The dps value should be 10 to 15 % lower to other class weapon within its range. Ie 720 rpm vs smg, 360 rpm vs scouts, 450 rpms vs pulse, 600 rpm inbetween pulse n smg depending on players. its strange for a rifle to be weaker than smg. unwieldy as scout and pulse at ranges.

  • They do more damge than smgs. Most autos are around 13-15 per body with a precision of 20-25. Recluse the one you are most likely comparing autos to only does 11 per body however its strength comes out when master of arms is procked which turns your entire body into a crit spot for 25 dmg everywhere. Autos are in a good spot but they can't beat pinnacles and I hate to be the bearer of bad news but expect another nerf to pinnacles and it won't be because of the community.

        Can we please make autos competitive again cause we haven't had a true auto meta since Suros in D1! You can say oh sweet business is good but you have to pre fire to stand a chance and Suros with spinning up is only somewhat viable if you miss a few shots like normal people do you automatically lose the fight unless your fighting someone who missed more shots. Just give autos like a 5 to 7 percent dmg buff in pvp and we could at least make some head way out of the mountain top recluse bs that is plaguing the matches right now. I have recluse i would know and i refuse to use it in pvp out of principle.

      • Have you tried sweet business? Actium War rig + sweet business and 21% delirium ( or hammerhead) .... Oh boy. Suros is pretty competitive ( 600 RPMs in general aren't bad)

      • Autos need to be consistent mid DPS weapons. Basically a jack of all master of none in the short to mid range. The different types should allow them to be a bit stronger at specific ranges but never the top DPS option. Since it’s not a precision weapon nor a cqc burst damage weapon like a smg, TTK should be decent at close and mid, but still lose to more specialized or precision weapons within their intended range. So basically they should be the most reliable primary but not the “best” primary any given situation.

      • I agree with buffing autos but we also need to buff smgs. On console the recoil is ridiculous. I don't mind the damage falloff that they have. I just want a massive stability increase to make them easier to control.

      • Dude, we're talking about BUNGIE here. NOTHING is properly balanced and the ultimate proof is that last Scarlet Keep nightfall. They don't even know how to develop or balance things anymore, they just throw stuff in the game without any sense and grab some coke because they're too lazy to study how to balance a game.

Its awesome. It pairs well with Eriana's vow.

          Normally would support your argument, but most weapons feel like trash right now. That's what happens when they nerf everything in PVE. PVP I've been able to find auto's, scouts, pulse rifles, sidearms, HC's, subs, that I can use. Not all frames are good, but you can find weapons to use. EDIT: I'm talking about MASTER level / end game content, where you see the best players in the community having to shoot some red-bars 4 times or more with HC, etc.. Most of the PVE is too easy, while endgame makes my wrists hurt and TTK is longer than a hunter in PVP. It's kewl if you like that... It feels slow and boring to me.

            • Probably just me, but ever since that headshot nerf on red bars pulse rifles haven't felt the same for me. Autos just need to return to their Year 1 glory.

              • Bungie my weapon that takes the least amount of thought in the game to use doesn't compete with weapons that require you not only to pull the trigger more than once but also control recoil. Please buff so that they are the clear choice a la d2 y1. Thank you. Sincerely, A Scrub

                • If you buff ARs then maybe SMGs need a slight accuracy or stability debuff? Nah, buff all the weapons! Especially Hard Light am I right?

                  • It really depends on the type of auto rifle and its perks, i have a pluperfect thats 955 that does nothing and a good roled Reckless oracle thats 950 so dont be suprised when ur autorifle is trash if its perks are garbo

                    They need to be on par with Pulse rifles. I dont understand why Pulse rifles are given so much love but Autos are left in the dust. They are literally the same type of weapon if you have Pulses with Full Auto. 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️. Pulses are literally Auto Snipers with a burst. They can compete from any range. It is literally like fighting Multi but a pulse version of it.

                      They need work for sure. For a game trying to empower choice, it sure doesn't do this weapon type much justice. But I guess that's fitting of how they've handled everything else so far.

                      • I think Autos are pretty balanced in PvP. They have that flinch factor, and if you e ever used Misfit then you know what I’m talking about. They don’t compete if the other user lands all crits, but they are fantastic at negating that with good flinch. I think there fine.
