Edited by Uncanny_Vale: 11/22/2019 4:36:47 AMI don’t believe in evolution in the sense that it requires faith or it’s just a matter of personal opinion. I accept that all of the evidence supports the theory that evolution through natural selection is responsible for the diversity life on this planet. Edit:
I am polling because I was unaware of how religious some of our population is and I am simply curious.
It doesn’t have to be either or. I know plenty of religious people that accept that evolution is true. I think they usually justify it to themselves as “god guided evolution” or something.

“Belief”

Evolution is a part of creation. "God" makes prototypes and then refines. Big bang and let there be light are the same. "God" doesnt speak.. Its all based on frequency and waves.... If "God" were to speak material universe would have to yield. Mankind is self important to believe it is the center of sentience when it has been given a "gift". Do not doubt. Mankind is weak and a breath to the power of divinity and creation forces. Be grateful. You are not "in charge".

24 RepliesI could go into some serious debate about the lack of fossil record and what not, but I’ll just keep it simple. I decided to believe in the god of the Bible and I order to be intellectually consistent that means I have to believe everything. So I naturally believe in the literal creation week

2 RepliesI don’t think creationism and evolution need to be mutually exclusive concepts.

Like sure. Maybe Evolution was real. But here’s what I like to think. So the universe maybe existed before creationism. Maybe the whole “7 days thing” was a metaphor. Maybe God (yes I’m a freaking Christian get over it boomers) spent seven days collecting energy and then on the seventh he went and made a big cosmic CLAP and the Big Bang happened. Then it says he took a rest on the seventh. Maybe this is a metaphor as well. He took a bit of a time off and then he went and sprinkled the seeds for life on Earth to happen. Then a combination of Creationism and Evolutionism happened. But that’s just me thinking. I’m a Christian and I like Creationism. Have a couple doubts but should be solved in the next couple hundred years. Maybe I’ll see a few be solved.

You can believe in both creationism and evolution. It is clear from the fossil record that god evolved and then created the universe.

Evolution was created. So both.

Edited by Neko Neko Nya: 11/23/2019 9:54:09 PMWhat I think: 1. There is a God. 2. He doesn’t intervene but is merely an observer. 3. This world/universe/whatever is a side project for him 4.Evolution is just a natural thing, it’s like saying gravity doesn’t exist. Proof of evolution. You have 4 animals, all in the same species. 2 of them have a mutation that allow for night vision, 2 don’t. The two that don’t die because predators kill them in the night whereas the animals with the night vision survive because they see them coming and run away. This, they reproduce and now suddenly the species has night vision because the only surviving members have it. Edit: fun fact the idea of creationism is a newer than evolution.

Creationism

I believe that evolution is the Lee Harvey Oswald of humanity's origin. Yes, it brought us into being. But no way it acted alone. Evolution, as a process, is completely logical. And demonstrable, given that we have turned wolves into everything from Chihuahuas to St. Bernard's using directed evolution. If we can do it in thousands of years, nature can do it in millions. Abiogenesis, the notion that life can come into being from lifelessness, was debunked by Louis Pasteur over a century ago (it was called spontaneous generation then). Life is statistically impossible without outside help, it's like a pocket watch assembling itself from its component bits and starting to run, or Hamlet writing "Hamlet". So do I believe in evolution or creation? The answer is... yes.

I believe I made humanity just to create myself

I am Christian who doesn't accept the Creationism view. I believe God did not create the Earth in 7 days. The whole day thing is a translation error. The problem with translating things is that often times, specific meanings of words or even the word itself get's lost due to there not being an equivalent term in the new language. The Bible was obviously not written in English originally. What happened was the original translation used a word instead of day that meant period of time (I believe the period of time is unspecified). However, there is not a equivalent word, so the translator used day to preserve the original meaning of the text since Genesis is a very poetic book in nature. On Evolution, I don't think it exists and if it does, it was used by God and didn't just happen on it's own.

One thing we can agree on... We will never find out the truth in our lifetime... Wether you believe in a god, or believe in science... We end up in the same place, a grave...
or anywhere a dead body can be stored... but you get the point...
