Don’t have machine gun for essence of greed quest
From the title, basically I don’t have a machine gun or forsaken, how can I finish the quest or get a machine gun without grinding the gambit pinnacle machine gun quest?

It seems that the only way to do it is waiting for a exotic engram drop for the Thunderlord or grinding gambit as you suggested. Sad that there seems to be no blue or green machine gun available. Bungie should adjust this.
