Actually, in D&D terms it’s more like already having +3 gear, then being told your +3 gear is only +1 now, and if you want to get back to using it at full power it’s going to cost you 10x what it originally did...
...and they plan on doing this to us again in 11 weeks when this season ends and the next one adds a new cap.

I get where you’re coming from, but what we’re dealing with is a little different. OP is talking about the resources needed to place passive perks on armor. Things like movement speed bonuses, passive skills check buffs, reduced elemental damage from enemies or damage to/from particular enemies. Plate mail is still plate mail. Bungie is not taking +3 armor and making it +1 armor at the end if the season by introducing a new adventure and making you face more challenging monsters. This is like accusing Wizards of the Coast of nerfing your Fighter’s armor class when you run a higher level campaign against tougher monsters that can actually hit and damage high level characters. By the way - have you noticed how easy the opponents in the EDZ and earlier locations are? Your character has no reduction in power at all. This is is better than other companies have done with world leveling in their games (I’m looking at you Bethesda, especially in Oblivion).
