Nerfing rampage and kill clip won’t make me use hipfire grip

Bungie Bungie Bungie come on. Jesus now I’m having flash backs to the season of the drifter twab. I’ve liked most of the stuff I’ve seen for shadowkeep, but then this weeks twab dropped, and it was not too fun. My 2 cents on this, pretty much pinnacle weapons, one thing stat many players look forward to getting, sometimes even more than exotics r being trashed because u didn’t want to force pve players into comp to get the pvp pinnacle weapons. Firstly, that’s not a valid excuse for getting rid of pinnacle weapons I know plenty of pve players who grinded our recluse for pvp, and sometimes it’s hard but I’m a mostly pve guy and I enjoyed my journey to recluse one of my most memorable moments n destiny. And secondly, this “new” pinnacle weapon better be good. Now for the perks, I don’t get this at all especially the nerfs to desperado and onslaught. I’m case u haven’t noticed Bungie most of the perks suck for pve primary’s I don’t want hipfire grip, field prep, triple tap, under pressure, high impact reserves, etc on my pve spare rations. Let’s get this straightened out nerfing ramped isn’t going to make me use hipfire grip. Ur right that these dmg dealing perks r the only ones we want but that’s not because they’re too good but because the rest of the perks suck ass, maybe slightly nerf them if ur that worried but the nerfs seem overkill to me. Oh yea the desperado and onslaught nerfs make no sense! R u telling me that the rate of fire will go up but the dmg is dropping? Excuse me! That the STUPIDEST thing I’ve ever heard. I guess now my 360rpm redrix will be getting no benefit from desperado but instead just turn into a normal 540rpm pulse with only one perk, outlaw. Same thing goes with breakneck 450 rpm auto Turing into a higher rate of fire with also only one perk, rampage. They’re pretty much not going to be viable at all anyways that’s my 2 cents, this twab sucks Edit: I don’t fully understand the changes to desperado and onslaught tho, this is just what they sound like, @cozmo/dmg if one of you happens to read this and u got a spare sec, would u mind clarifying exactly how onslaught and desperado will be affected? Is it going to be like I said above? Or will they still have some extra dmg from the rate of fire increase? Edit: btw while these changes r somewhat frustrating, multiple ppl n the comments pointed out that they rnt as severe as we first thought. I’m mostly just worried about desperado and onslaught :( Anyways I’m still going to preorder shadowkeep and have a ton of fun playing it, super excited

Mountaintop will now be renamed to Hilltop. And the PvP map Felwinter's Peak will now be renamed to Felwinter's Halfway Base Camp.

      • Why would you use hipfire? Rampage and killclip being nerfed wouldn't make that a viable option anyway...

I’d like to mention the 20-40% increase in damage to all primary weapons and snipers in PvE. If you work out the damage, it will be roughly the same. Rampage is being adjusted to be more like pvp in PvE as far as how much damage is boosted. Take it like this. Say right now, Autos are dealing 100 damage per bullet in PvE. - One stack of Rampage Grants +35% Damage. 100 +35% = 135 Damage. - two stacks Grants 50%. 100 +50% = 150. - three stacks Grants 65% Damage. 100 +65% = 165 Damage. Now Autos are getting a +25% Increase to base damage on the low end. And Rampage will grant 10%, 25%, and 35% bonus on activation. Now Autos will be dealing 125 damage at base in PvE on the low end. - 1 stack of Rampage will now grant 10%. 125 + 10% =137 Damage. - 2 stacks will Grant 25%. 125 +25% = 156.25. - 3 stacks will grant 35%. 125 +35% = 168.75. As you can see we’ll be doing slightly more damage after the update even with the nerfs to damage perks. This was more to reduce our dependency on these perks and allow other perks to flourish. Kill clip:
currently Grants +50% Damage on activation. Keeping our example of an auto dealing 100 damage now. - 100 + 50% = 150 Damage. - 125 + 33% = 166.25 Damage.
Swashbuckler:
currently Grants 13% per stack in PvE and up to 33% in pvp. - 100 + 13 = 113 - 100 + 26 = 126 - 100 + 39 = 139 - 100 + 52 = 152 - 100 + 65 = 165 Now: - 125 + 6.6 = 133.25 - 125 + 13.2 = 141.5 - 125 + 19.8 = 149.75 - 125 + 26.4 = 161.352 - 125 + 33 = 166.25
Precision damage increases with damage as it is a multiplier. The nerf to precision damage reduced the multiplier by 50%. Using an auto Rifle, 100 Damage per shot as usual. Rapid fire AR’s have a precision Damage multiplier of 1.5. Now reduced to 1.25 with the change (a 50% reduction in bonus damage.) Base damage * precision multiplier * Kill Clip (No kill clip) 100*1.5*1 = 150 125*1.25*1 = 156.25 (Kill Clip) 100*1.5*1.5= 225 125*1.25*1.333= 208.3 The only time you’re loosing damage is at the higher stacks of a Damage bonus. This will only noticeably effect kill clip, 3x ramapage, and 4&5x Swashbuckler. At that point it’s just maybe 1 more rapid Fire AR bullet to kill. Not really noticeable. Not saying it’s a great thing for them to do, but it’s not the end of the world. People need to pay attention to the total view before jumping to conclusions. If anything we need to wait until shadowkeep comes out before we go crazy. This just shows that the damage boosting perks will still be just as strong. Bungie is just making it easier for us to pick things like zen moment, Field Prep or Triple Tap over a Damage perk instead of just tossing out the weapon.

          • Anything that offers a damage boost, is literally all I’m going to use. My one goal is to absolutely steam roll all content and destroy everything with as little effort as possible. That’s why I play this game, bc it’s fun. I have no interest in all the other garbage perks in the perk pool. Air assault, hip fire grip, never.

So, there's two main issues with Bungie's approach here. 1. Rampage, Kill Clip, Swashbuckler, Surrounded are still better for PvE use than ones like Field Prep, Air Assault, and Under Pressure. and 2. Because of this, the new "Ritual Weapons" being curated rolls will either guarantee that they have these better perks, or be trash. The balanced weapons among the Pinnacles (Breakneck, 21%, Loaded Question, Wendigo, Redrix's) all were desirable because of that unique perk. The chase for these Ritual Weapons will more than likely be brief and unrewarding, and either reward an Outlaw/Kill Clip crucible scout, which you very well could have gotten a random roll of by then, or just be relegated to a spot in our banks (like Hush). I really don't get what they're going for here. More of the Pinnacle Weapons were balanced (or bad, my sweet sweet Oxygen SR-3) than not. But, this is sort of Bungie's M.O, isn't it? "A handful of Pinnacle Weapons are broken. Delete Pinnacle Weapons." "Master of Arms is broken. Nerf every damage buffing perk." Bungie needs to understand that people, and it isn't just content creators, streamers, or world's first raiders, are just going to use the best possible, most optimal, highest damage-dealing thing no matter what it is. It's that simple. If it's a pulse, or a rocket, or a sword. People will use it and chase it to the ends of the earth. So, the solution is to either let everything be viable wherein, everything is broken and overpowered, and the game might be a little more fun, or everything is watered down, undertuned, and people just keep on using whatever the new hotness is for the season (Are my Bubble Buddies ready for Helm of Saint-14 to be a thing again).

                • Think about this for a minute: They absolutely nerfed Whisper into the dirt a season or two ago, now with the nerfs to well, damage stacking, reloading, and now rampage / kill clip etc... they actually managed to re-ascend whisper to the top of the pile, not by buffing it into relevancy, but by making everything else around it useless. "Fixed an issue where players were having fun" - Bungie

                  • In a game where the objective is to do damage, why wouldn’t I use things that make me do more damage? This doesn’t change what perks people look for (especially with the enemy precision nerfs). It just reigns in our power a bit more.

                    • Die-hard, disillusioned Bunie fanboy: No, Activision is still the one making all the decisions. They're still merged until Shadowkeep, so every decision beingmade is still theirs! Bungie will revert everything after that. I know Bungie is good. Everybody else that isn't stupid: Bungie was the problem all along, it was never Activision to begin with, we see that now. Bungie is the same, never changed.

                    • I think players really need to calm the hell down. This is why Bungie/Activision at the time should not have put things out like pinnacle weapons if they were not prepared to take them away. This literally killed load outs. What's the point in having a game with like 300 guns if you are only going to use 3. Perks that are standing out right now are going to be adjusted. No one is going to ask you to use a sidearm with shank burn on it. It's not that serious. It's Bungie's turn now. We've been playing this game for how long now? Let Bungie do their thing. This game is going to be way too different to be complaining about matters like this so soon. I think players are going to have a lot of fun in shadow keep. This adjustment is part of that.
