When Inside Edition just puts out how a violent movie, The Joker, could cause problems it's completely fine! It's not just Trump who believes this. It's a foolish thing to say that even though someone spends all their time playing violent video games and watching horrible movies, that they don't have a negative effect.

Alright guys, just ask yourself: does over violence and sexual scenes in games and movies really add to our society? No. It aids the mental illness and wrong thoughts in people's minds. Has anyone ever thought why there is more suicides in America and depression? When people are playing horror games that are meant to have an effect on the mind why wouldn't someone get worse? Life is full of problems why does our free time dwell on the un pure aspects of life? It erodes the morals of our nation.

If we're talking violent influences, why don't we just ban books? Orwell, Tolkien, Homer, Virgil, Shakespeare, Poe, Melville, Twain, Wilde, and King all wrote violent scenes in literature that can have a detrimental effect on our youth!

1 ReplyAnyone ever think that the video games and movies that have mental problem protagonists may create and/or exemplify the mental problem? What I'm saying is not made up, it has happened in many examples, and I'm sure many we have not seen. Why are overly violent games that worthy of defence? It almost proves my point that it is a problem that everyone is defending it like it's their saviour.

Dude you're as fanatical as a flat earther. You're going so far right Alex Jones would ask you to calm down. Keep pretending you're a rational person, you're the only one that believes it.

Okay how about you keep watching carebears and I’ll keep playing violent games where you can cut people in half with chainsaws?
-
The human heart is savage. It wants more of what it is. People can do kindness but they arent really kind.
-
Ok then. Stop watching movies and stop playing video games. If you want all of society to suffer a lack of entertainment then you can too
-
I suspect it is the reverse: video games, social media, and the like can greatly contribute to depression and negative thoughts.

6 RepliesEdited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 9/27/2019 5:26:18 PMThey’ve crusaded this nonsense several times in the past. I remember the anti-GTA crusade of the early 2000’s. Some Florida lawyer tried SO hard at this and failed. He lied and was disbarred for his absurd crusade. Why? Because no study has ever produced a correlation or even anything significant to suggest it. The current mass shooting problem is a uniquely American thing. There are several factors, but none of which are violence in media. That’s a scapegoat that seems to be continually used by fundamental nationalist types.

1 ReplyYou know what? You're right. And I've come to a sudden conclusion. Millions of people have killed for freedom of speech. We should ban freedom of speech. It causes murders. People killed for free press. We should ban it. People killed for their religions. Many more than 15 incidents for that. We should ban it. But people also killed in the name of atheism. So we should ban that too. Everything anyone has ever killed over should be banned regardless of the research that says it has nothing to do with violence. Everything should be banned.

14 RepliesYou poor thing.

7 Repliesyou do realize that most mass shooters played very little video games right? but who cares, arguing with someone convinced that they can't be wrong is fruitless
-
12 RepliesHow is banning violence in films and games not a major violation on freedom of speech? Not to mention it’s a load of crap anyway.

It's a foolish thing to say that even though someone spends all their time playing violent video games and watching horrible movies, that they don't have a negative effect.
So we should just ban everything because it might inspire another shooter? Nobody bats an eye at groups like Antifa yet something like Joker is the problem? A film about a fictional character in a superhero universe of all things. Please tell me you see how ridiculous that is. The media wants to create a scapegoat they can easily point their finger towards. Christ it's so transparent at this point that I actively feel bad for anyone who falls for it. Why don't we just ban the entire catalogue of Martin Scorseses movies since that's what this version of Joker is based on. Have you people never seen The King of Comedy or Taxi Driver?

Me, watching my Sim toiling away to become a Renaissance Man with a beautiful family and unlimited money, and wishing video games would have more of an effect on people
-
That they can't have an effect rather. They can. Do they? Maybe. Are they having negative effects on the human population? Idk. Saying that they do without proper evidence hurts the argument. If anyone could point to a large group and say video games and violent movies are causing these people to be violent, then I would say "Oh. Fact based evidence. Evidence backed argument. Overall logical argument. I agree."

1 ReplyI've seen more backlash and criticism rather than people saying that it's completely fine. The criticism of the theme of the movie still hasn't changed my mind of me not watching it because I don't like the DC universe.

4 RepliesReminder that China is a fan of censoring video games. They just banned Blood and Corpses in video games this year. Seems like a good path to follow.

5 Replies“Fortnite causes violence!” “BUT MOM, IT’S FINE!” “Be quite and go back to playing GTA sweetie.”

4 RepliesTo be fair, everyone complains about everything at some point or another. What is being said isn't super important as much as who is saying it. Gamers in general and really people with sense that have looked into will point out how idiotic it is to claim that movies or games will cause any kind of real world violence. Honestly, the more people focus on it the more you're giving them what they want, clicks/views.

3 RepliesI had a big long response to your last reply typed out but got the "You must have progressed to the farm blah blah" message and it got deleted. Then I read the other comments and saw even your fellow conservatives are against you so...yeah have fun with that kiddo! Ima make a sammich.

6 RepliesYes, there are stupid people on all sides who like to blame media for the evil that people commit. It's an easy way to LOOK like you care about violence, when all you really care about is getting rid of whatever band, movie genre or medium you happen to be against. I was already excited for Joker, but at this point I'll be watching it to spite the people giving it unnecessary hate for its content.

19 RepliesVideo Games do not cause violence. Period. End of discussion.
