Solo players...how much exclusion can you take?
Solo player here. Love the game and everything in it that allows me to solo. Matchmaking activities are great. However, I absolutely hate the idea of and will never be getting a "fire team" together to run certain non match making activities. This excludes me from many activities that lead to pinnacle and exotic weapons and I am ok with that for now. I also fully understand the psychological and other aspects of why Bungie pushes and promotes fire teams. As a solo player I have my limits on how much content I am excluded from because I choose to play solo. If content exclusion get's to the point that I personally feel the game is just not worth the money for me, then I will begrudgingly spend it somewhere else. I bought the first Destiny on day one and have bought every single expansion from D1 and D2 since then. Love the game but in the end, if Bungie doesn't want my money that's ok. Also just wondering how many other solo's are in the community. Solo...signing out.

I play solo mostly as well (I’d wager 75% of the time) I have a team, but life gets in the way! You’re right it does exclude me from alot of activities (mostly end game) But I also think playing solo has made me a much, much better player! I’ve defeated a handful of nightfalls solo with decent scores, I can make it thru parts of the raids (not completions just parts!) enough to get a few pieces of gear. I absolutely know it’s made me better at Crucible. I don’t mind playing solo, but it does get old facing full teams sometimes

lfg is great tool to find quick temporary teammates without having matchmaking. Nobody does guided games because you never know what sort of noobs you’ll run into. Meanwhile with lfg, people post the requirements are you can easily join. Otherwise if you just choose to play solo that’s you’re choice, but it’s not exclusion on bungie a part, you’re just choosing not to do a part of the game. A lot can be done in this game without ever talking to people, you just need to use lfg once in a while.

Well the game does lack some basic social options that you normally find in every MMO. But at the same time the game has been changing so much each year. Eventually every part of the game will be in the game. :P

Unless it's physically impossible for you to join fireteams you're not being excluded, you just choose not to participate in a big chunk of the game. In one of those scenarios you're a victim, in the other you're responsible for your own choices. You've made your choice, good for you & good luck out there.

I am a fireteam member whos team mates don't play nearly as much as i do so i am primarily solo and i belong to a clan and use discord when i want to raid.

1 ReplyHere. I have a question for you. Why don't you spend 5 minutes making an LFG post for something? Everyone makes out LFG to be the extremely toxic place where it's impossible to get things done, but I use LFG for everything. I don't have a set group I play with, and my friends don't play/like Destiny, so you can imagine everything I've done has been through LFG. About 90% of the time the LFG groups I find are chill, and for the most part, pretty cool. Now there is the 10% of just straight up jerks you find, but just drop them and move on with your day. I got my LW and CoS flawless done through LFG, so trust me, it's not impossible to find a group to complete a raid, or any non-matchmade activity for that matter. I just want to know what's stopping you from finding people through LFG, not trying to sound like an ass, just curious.

1 ReplyI'm primarily a solo player. Yes I'm in a clan and have active helpful friends. I just prefer solo play. If the game would let me...I'd prefer to solo the Heroic Strikes than with blues. Sure I wanna do the raids...but it's not Bungies fault. Just most "Raiders" I run into are impatient or just dicks with an inflated ego. (That's gonna trigger some. [spoiler]-blam!- you[/spoiler])

I play solo and have no plans to change that. What have I paid for if I remove Crucible, Iron Banner, Gambit, and raids? Not much. I'm not getting Shadowkeep because I know that it will be more of the same boring grind with PvP as a requirement to get anywhere. No thanks. In addition, Luke Smith's giant ego doesn't help. The game needs attention and he's writing pretentious Director's Cuts about what he likes. I don't care what he likes. My money is paying Bungle's bills, not his.

I play solo but not by choice. I'm left out of raids or comp for reasons I don't know. I'm not even told, people just appear offline instead of asking me.

Now, I don’t particularly enjoy doing it, I just do it for the loot. I would imagine that is the boat a lot of other people are in too. Unless you have actual friends to play with, grouping up isn’t really that fun. Hardly anyone is making friends playing this game either. 90% of lfg groups are one and done. This is an absolute failure as a social game and I think they should stop trying to make it one. There’s no reason NFs shouldn’t have a MM playlist at this point. There’s no reason Heroic Menagerie needed extinguish — the only reason it couldn’t have MM. The new horde mode in SK is another thing that turned me away from buying it too honestly because they said it will have another heroic mode without MM. I don’t mind having to look for teams for raids or content you just aren’t good enough yourself to beat solo, but I think that should be it.

Mostly solo player here. I use the Bungie.net LFG time to time, but otherwise use the in-game matchmaking. Destiny has not been nor is it currently marketed and advertised as a game aiming to cater towards players who choose to avoid teaming up with other people. I accept that, so when the game is designed in a way where teams will naturally have greater access to rewards, I don't feel there is any 'exclusion' of sorts. The game was made for [i]those[/i] people, not 'solo' players.

I am mostly a solo player. I have a few friends the we may do a raid with every several months or so and do a nightfall or general activities.

If you play the game long enough you will accumulate a group of friends you can rely on and help yourself. Eventually you can get into a competent clan and crush all the end game stuff. PvP solo on the other hand sucks some serious ass. Grateful of the upcoming solo changes to comp.

I am a solo player and my only gripe was no comp rumble. We are getting the solo comp playlist though so that kind of addresses that. No complaints otherwise on this particular aspect.

I've been primarily a solo player for a long time. I don't know. I don't feel like anything in this game is impossible or anything. Difficult at times, yes, but if I want to do something bad enough, I'll find a way.
