Consoles are not going to match the times you get on pc. They just don’t have the processing power, and many newer PCs have SSDs installed. This mainly a technological limitation of the consoles themselves which have always been underpowered.
The thing is destiny started on console only. So it is in fact a console game that was ported to PC. Now you would think that game developer like Bungie that has just about been console dedicated would be able to design for current hardware. As soon as anyone mentions this issue, players, not Bungie mind you, players tell you to just buy an ssd. It's pretty sad.

  • Doesn’t work that way. Bungie is shackled with a game engine that doesn’t work with dedicated servers. So a significant part of that load time comes from your-already-underpowered-console having to manage the game’s networking and having to load all the game objects into memory. PCs can handle this workload better because of SSDs and faster CPUs. But no amount of skill matching s going to get a minivan to run like a sports car. Neither Sony nor Microsoft built these consoles strong enough to bring in with...and these underpowered machines are now six years old. ....and showing their age in a lot of other games besides Destiny. Single player games are fine. But many online multiplayer games are starting to overtax these consoles.

Only a games sev could get away with this bs, they knew the engines limitations and the consoles. But they didn't factor that in, destiny is bloatware, meaning it's not the console that's under powered. This is squarely a Bungie issue, and telling g people to spend more cash is outrageous. If this were a PC game, you wouldn't hear a peep out of me, but destiny originated on console to say Bungie were unaware of the major issue they were creating down the line is insane, unless everyone at Bungie is a dribbling idiot which is clearly not the case. From the last 6 months and the director updates, what I have taken from that us Bungie wouldn't know the truth if it bit them They have been disingenuous from the get go. How can you trust any organisation like that?

Then you know how obsolete the tools Bungie is working with, and how unreasonable the timelines Activision required them to work on. I’m not giving Bungie a pass. Just recognizing the corner they’ve been painted into because of business decisions made ten years ago....and a business partnership that wouldn’t let them out of those decisions (until now). The power of modern PCs can wallpaper over the game’s flaws. But consoles can’t. Destiny 3 can’t be a repeat of this, and Bungie can’t expand this game indefinitely on this generation of machines. Not with how this game has been built. As for the console themselves, Bungie isn’t the only devs struggling with these things. BioWare seems to have some serious leadership problems, but I believe many of the problems that Anthem had to deal with resulted from being forced to use Frostbite and hitting their heads against the limits of the PS4 and XB1. The players on those older machines continued to have stability problems long after they stopped being an issue on the mid-gen machines and on pc.

Bungie and the others did this to themselves however. I have no sympathy.
