Welp that happened. I’m so disappointed rn. Sony took back the rights to Spider-Man. Disney proposed a 50/50 split of the profits and Sony wasn’t having it. So they backed out. I really wanted to see Spider-Man 3. And how he would try to live up to Tony. And how he could fit into the new era of the MCU.
Today is a sad day.

3 RepliesI am going to say it. Good for Sony, don't let marvel coerce you out of your money by holding the avengers over your head.

R.I.P Tom Holland and The MCU

1 ReplyThis is like being a kid stuck between two fighting parents who aren't together. They can't stop bickering and money grubbing long enough to see that we, the fans, are losing out on a good thing.

Seems PlayStation isn't the master race after all...

1 ReplyEdited by ShadowOfKismet: 8/21/2019 8:59:57 PMHonestly both sides are at fault in some way but I’m leaning towards hating Sony rn, since 50% of the profits from the Spider-Man movies is still a ton of money, more than they deserve after what they did by making ASM All we can do is continue rioting and hope one of the companies breaks and cuts a deal so the fans don’t boycott
Never forget Tom Holland
15 RepliesGood think I didn't buy a PS4. I wouldn't want to support Sony for this.

I wonder who will realize first that the community doesn’t care who gets the money, we just want more Tom Holland Spidey movies

1 ReplyEdited by superskybro: 8/22/2019 12:07:30 AMWe now have a 5 percent chance of spectacular spiderman season 3 becoming a thing Also they wanted a 50/50 split for the spiderman movie's, but they sure as hell weren't gonna share their infinity war/end game money. At least give Sony 10% if your gonna ask for a full 50

4 RepliesI thought they said the current movies being made are still gonna happen. It does still suck though. I don’t want ANOTHER Spider-Man reboot.
-
Aye, what with Venom right.... Sony was involved there. Maybe we get some sickass symbiote films. Venom, Carnage, Spidey. Maybe some of the others... In the moment it sucks, yeah. But there's hope imo.

3 Replies-blam!-! At least we still have the guardians of the galaxy....

3 RepliesAs far as I understand it Disney wanted more money from Sony. Sony refused and Spiderman was pulled from the MCU. The planned Spiderman films with Tom are still set to continue. He's set for one more film but Sony are likely to re-contract especially given that he appeals to the Japanese audience. He has a chance of coming back and it's not like they need him right away but it will be a bit odd is they can't mention his existence of each set of heroes. So far the response is very mixed with some people either boycotting Sony or Disney.

This news really got me into a crappy mood today. If you ask me they should've gotten the TV rights and continued Spectacular Spider Man, but that's likely wishful think and will likely never get renewed. Sony never was good with Spider man movies, the Amazing Spider Man and venom are proof enough for me to think that. Right now it feels like Hollywood is ruining all the franchises that I love, especially the characters that are involved in it. I guess that all I can hope for is that the new content is better than I think it will be.

7 RepliesIf I am correct, the current deal with Sony and Disney allows Disney to collect 5% of all the profit from the Spider-Man movies. Disney for some reason agreed to that but then after seeing how well Far From Home did, Disney now wants 50% of profits. Yeah, Sony did the right move.

This situation doesn’t benefit anyone ( Sony, Disney, or the fans ). I know Into the Spiderverse was an amazing movie, but I don’t have much confidence in Sony being able to make a Peter Parker Spider-Man movie without Kevin Feige or Disney. And the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies are laced with so much of the MCU DNA, I’m not sure how Sony can strip all the remnants of MCU out of the current franchise without completely changing the tone of the films. Kevin Feige and Disney deliberately made sure that the new Spider-Man films are a small part of the wider MCU.

1 Reply-blam!- Sony. They couldn’t protect 77 million of their customers, they held their customers hostage (figuratively) & acted as brick wall for a pro consumer innovation in the gaming insustry. Now they’re taking away the best Spider-Man we’ve had in years right as his story gets interesting. -blam!- Sony.
Don’t be mistaken though, Disney’s also a crap company in their own right.
1 ReplyI went to bed pissed last night

1 ReplySo Disney makes the movies good, a cohesive story that isn’t a reboot after reboot, and Sony decides to -blam!- off because of splitting profits for all the work Disney and the actors did? Jesus Christ and here I thought the world of gaming companies was stupid.
-
2 RepliesIm conflicted... I dont wanna support Sony anymore but they will kick Tom if the movie flops. Curse you Sony, I wont forgive this.
