Basicly the idea is that if you get a weapon (with a random roll) dropped for the first time, you unlock it in collections and it's automatically set to that weapon roll. So with shards you can get that weapon as with year1 weapons.
Yet, if you drop the same weapon but with different roll and you like that roll - you can register your new weapon overwriting it in the collections slot.
A good example of such system are demons in shin megami tensei series.
Pluses that I can see:
- A good way to collect the weapons with perks you love
- Clears out storage
- Ability to fetch a year 2 weapon on demand like in year 1
-
they should get rid of random rolls. the collections tab would be amazing.

Or let us pick our mods and attachments because random rolls are for shitty mobile games looking to increase the playtime of pitifully small pieces of content. I'm supposed to be role playing. My Titan can't tank and I can't even pick what scopes I want on my gun. I get 3 random rolled options that sometimes don't even make a visual difference. This game lacks basic customization features from a DECADE ago.

Talk about a quality of life update!

2 RepliesThis would probably require too much memory on Bungie's end. So a good idea in theory, but likely not possible due to system restrictions that I don't fully understand. I could be wrong.
-
1 ReplyThe funny thing is just how little memory it would take up just to record every single roll you have ever had on every gun, it would be a text file taking up less than a megabyte. But of course for pc users it would have to be encoded to prevent hacking. Bungie has mentioned the possibility of making new stuff reaquireable but haven’t heard anything for a long time

Absolutely!!!!!!!

13 RepliesIf you have a weapon you like with a roll you like, why would you dismantle it? That's what the Vault is for and it's why there are 500 slots in it. Really no need to implement a system like this when you can already store specific rolls you get and pull them free of charge.

3 RepliesEdited by pacificdune: 8/8/2019 2:08:20 AMI think we should be able to re-acquire every roll that we have ever had drop. This would eliminate the whole agonizing deletion of random gear. It could work something like this: For a weapon that has been previously found with a random roll you can go into a perk selection screen where only the combinations of perks that you have earned are possible. As you earn more examples of the weapon more combinations are unlocked. This eliminates the need for a large vault to store things that you might want to use, and you never accidentally delete anything. If you do, you can just go get it again.

Edited by PAPASITO 30: 8/8/2019 12:39:45 AMor how about we get more weapon slots so we don't have to worry about carrying 20 of the same weapon on us

Edited by CatMan: 8/8/2019 6:51:19 AMI know I commented already. But what if, like armor 2.0, there was a weapon 2.0? Guns drop with non perks, perks could be found or bought , and players could make their own God rolls. Guns you have you can dismantle and perks on it unlock to be required in collections, and all perks from year one and 2 will automatically be unlock to apply to weapons. Year 3 perks will have to be found, grinded for. Boom Bungie could balance perks and weapons separate from each other.
I've been saying this for years. Now bungie has armor 2.0🤔
Edit: Mod and perks would obviously be two different things.

Been wanting this for awhile but last post I made it got so much hate. Blah blah it would make the game slower. It could just replace the icons.
-
4 RepliesWould be even cooler if you could see EVERY roll that weapon can drop with, and unlocking them in the collection by getting the weapon from wherever it comes from. Then you can reacquire the weapon with the perks you want (the one you unlocked obviously). I even created a post for this idea
-
Bad idea, because storing every roll you ever had is a trivial amount of data. Putting together a UI to get them back would be simple. Why in 2019 settle for anything less than being able to delete things at will and get any roll back?
-
1 ReplyI imagine it would be easily manipulated to keep spamming " best rolls" unless you only get one shot at entering it into collections. Then you would also have the issue of dealing with does it come with the same masterwork? And does it come upgraded to the same point? (Ie Lunas howl, not forgotten, or any completely masterworked items for that matter)

6 RepliesIt has been suggested before. However, Bungie cares about one thing and one thing only: Eververse.

11 RepliesI'm still partial to the idea of weapons gaining experience over use and eventually allowing you to pick the perks you want. "Player engagement" and all that, except they don't seem to know what they means and keep making afk farming simulators.
-
Edited by UPGRAYEDD: 8/7/2019 10:56:54 PMI'd rather just have more storage space. On bungie's end, there's no difference in storage space allotted to each person between having a custom rolled item in collections vs an item in your vault. Same amount of ones and zeroes.
-
God yes.
-
2 RepliesI'd be happy with reacquiring random rolled gear from collections with 'shocked face" random rolls on them!
-
3 RepliesI think it would be a cool idea, the only problem I can see is getting the god roll on ever character when you only received it once. But i suppose you can do that with the vault anyway, just with a few extra steps.
-
5 RepliesWhat is the point of collections if you can't even pull weapons from it cause it has random rolls. Bungie just wants me to farm for that weapon over and over to extend my play time.
-
Or like they are doing with armor 2.0 do it with weapons. A base rolled weapon with no mods that you level up, perhaps choosing barrel and sights as you do. Then a fully leveled weapon allows you to slot 2 mods to it. 1. This now makes collections viable. 2. They could do pinacle mods instead of guns that give even more diversity of how we play. 3. Can create pvp and pve specific weapon mods if they wanted.
-
6 RepliesYou have to first dismantle the rolled weapon and then you can retrieve it from collections with the same rolls. That should fix your issue. Try it out.
-
Registered discovered rolls! Hell f***in’ yes. I’ve been dreaming of this.
-
I would settle for the ability to reacquire random rolled weapons if you had one and you "locked" the roll. Add a lock feature in the weapons menu. Even if you were only allowed ten locks that would be a step forward.
-
9 RepliesFor anyone who wants this. I hope your first roll is: Air Assault Firmly Planted. The OP forgets we want random rolls all hail RNG'ESUS.
