Topic body
Has anyone even used it since the nerf? Mine went straight to the vault.

They either need to make the whisper a secondary now, or revert it back to how it was which would make it worth while as a heavy sniper. But as it is right now, its in the vault and its staying there.

Edited by zxionisus: 7/20/2019 5:36:09 AMDon’t worry - it will come back in D3 under another name and will be usable again for about a month...

My Whisper collects dust now ☹️
-
I don't even use the gun, so maybe
-
I completely agree with reverting the nerf. I like this weapon, I like how it looks. I love Taken and I want to use this thing more but I just can't since the nerf. It was a gun you knew was good to have in PvE. Now? Collects dust.
-
It’s a dust collector now lol

5 RepliesI think Whisper of The Worm should revert white nail, but only hold 3 or 6 shots total. That way it could have infinite ammo, but if you miss you are screwed.

Edited by indo: 7/19/2019 1:27:09 PMMy Whisper is getting dusty now in my Vault. DARCI works better with Lunafactions or rally barricade. Sad. Even on the latest raid it would not have killed the boss faster then now with the spike grenades. They could have changed it to a energy weapon instead of a power weapon because that is what it is now. You also only get 2 out your 3 bullets back from a heavy ammo crate. Terrible!
-
Keep white nail how it is, just make it a special weapon and call it Black Spindle ffs
-
They killed it 3 times, I don’t expect anything new (aside from bringing it back eventually and repeat the process)

2 RepliesIt’s and EXOTIC THAT TAKES SO MUCB EFFORT AND TIME TO GET, I remember waiting around for hours to get the mission to pop off and then waiting again after failing twice and the. Finally getting it. The weapon is an Exotic and with the white nail change they just did exactly what they did in D1 which is why I say that if they were going to do this again why give it the original Black hammer perk feel only to nerf it again, I’ll tell you why it’s because they were foolish and shortsited and decided on a whim to nerf it when they could change encounters around it. They didn’t anticipate the aftermath even though this is exactly what happened in D1.
-
Nerf the damage and make it a special weapon

Edited by Sturm with no Drang: 7/18/2019 6:04:20 PMWhat I absolutely hate the most is how in the past they said they were going forward with D2 and didn’t want to penalize players from playing a certain way. At the time, I gave a solid laugh and just said “Yeah, sure you do, Bungle.” Fast forward to where we are at now and sure enough they’re just doing the same damn thing that they’ve been doing ever since the early days of D1. I wouldn’t have a problem with Whisper’s nerf if they at least bothered to just revamp it instead of just giving it the same damned treatment as they did with Black Hammer, yet here we are. And all for what? A world’s first raid that was still plowed through regardless of Whisper? They really thought that one through. 😒

White nail should work like triple tap. Reloads mag but only 2 rounds come out of reserves.
-
5 RepliesI want it reverted back to its original form. Everyone talks about how it gave you "unlimited" ammo but that unlimited ammo was only situational. No one talks about how bungie designs their encounters as well as the amount of incoming sniper flinch. Bungie designs so many encounters so even if it is a big slow or unmoving boss we're still at risk from being flinched from incoming fire or ads attacking at melee range. I feel as if flinch was widely overlooked when taking about Whisper and white nail. We still had to land those precision hits. Not every player can do it with all the potential distractions which could mess up a shot. Oh and never mind the times white nail ocassionally just did not even proc. I reject the idea bungie couldn't design meaningful and challenging encounters without taking Whisper into consideration. That's on them for designing bosses which just sit there with a huge HP pool and just absorb damage. Look at CoS. Whisper wasn't even used and within a week raid teams were one phasing the boss. Either return white nail to it's original form or rework the perk entirely. As others have suggested, in this thread and others, have it work as a damage multiplier along with refilling the magazine from reserves. Final thought: I'm tired bungie introducing exotics only to nerf them months later. At this point it's predictable. I highly doubt Outbreak Perfected will last in it's current form. Cant have a kinetic primary inflicting that much damage on bosses.
-
Near 90% don't like what it is currently and think it can improve with simple changes. Proof Bungie is inept.
-
What is the "whit email nerf?" When you email someone it has to be 140 characters or less like the twitter?
-
I've had this idea in my head for a good while now (since the D1 Black Hammer nerf in fact) and was wondering, why don't they just remove crit spots from certain bosses entirely? I know it's traditional to have crits on bosses and pretty much everything in general, but Bungie can, and has introduced mechanics that has gone beyond just shooting a crit spot to deal extra damage. Like Oryx for example. He did have a "critical" spot where you would shoot him but damage only really came into play by stepping in all of the dark gooballs prior to doing so. I'm on the "revert whisper" side, just to be clear. But I also think Bungie can come up with some cool ideas to work around constant critting. I just thought of one right now. Vex mind, Fendaxus. Has a crit spot that constantly and randomly closes so you never know when to shoot. See, a simple workaround towards making whisper unreliable at times. HIDE THE CRIT SPOT, BUNGIE!!!

2 RepliesBring back white nails and put 9 ammos
-
I voted "revert whit email nerf" even though I think whit email is fine.
-
Honestly I don’t think whisper can even keep up with its og white nail perk. It needs a rework.
-
I read this idea from someone else, make only the last 3 bullets in the magazine infinite. I think thats a decent middle ground.
-
If they wanted other snipers/ heavy weapons to be chosen they should have buffed them, not nerf Whisper into Black Spindle. Why bring back a weapon that no one wanted nerfed in the first place to it's original glory only to nerf it back into a weapon no one uses, especially after finding out heavy grenade launchers are better anyway if they've got spike grenades and boss mod. Now how much do you want to bet Izanagi will get nerfed with a bs excuse like "it's too powerful for a special weapon" or "we want people to use other, significantly less effective"? special weapons
-
Lmao slide it into the secondary slot and everyone stops complaining!

2 RepliesEdited by TJ_Dot: 7/18/2019 3:35:36 PMInfinite ammo or not, the thing more so kills everything in about 18 shots from everybody anyway, so this feeling that the availability of extra shots making stuff to hard to design around is bogus. The thing has one the strongest bullets in the game, killing ammo regen just solidifies it's role as the thing you sought out to destroy, however now you killed its identity in the process when a Much easier to use counterpart exists. Sustained Damage being infinite doesn't mean crap when the health threshold is about the same every damn time to where so many things than just it work as well. It was balanced already. It wasn't even as popular for anything before the ammo nerf, even less now. It has to be undone, worried about Ghalran being too easy? Why is it still a joke to murder the raid boss in 7 seconds then? WITHOUT WHISPER?
