Unfortunately I suspect trials was a happy accident and Bungie can't remember the formula to make it work. And no, just adding 3v3 elimination would not solve the problem. Drastically different sandbox, different maps and the presence of new online shooter behemoths has changed that landscape forever. Although if you want to go the whole nine yards.... Maybe the entire destiny 2 experience is now the "trial"......
