Bad move disabling matchmaking for heroic Menagerie
Menagerie has received high praise, and a lot of that has been due to matchmaking without having to get on the mic and not having to wait on an ideal 6 man team from lfg. Why in the world would you go away from that for the heroic version? Just to appease the miniscule, hardcore player base, so they can feel special about themselves? You should have just changed the encounters slighty, increased the difficulty where a wipe took you back to a checkpoint instead of orbit, and kept matchmaking. I'm probably not even going to attempt the heroic version because I know it won't be fun having to deal with the same mess the raids bring to the table. Bad move, Bungie. You need to move away from forcing people onto lfg to complete activities.

I doubt its for exclusivity to the hard core. Normal mode was to teach people how to do Menagerie and possibly make friends to play hard mode with. LFG isnt needed if you play with your clan or friends. How many corrupted strikes have you done where people dont know to pass the ball between each other to power up the ball? How many blight public events or the frozen boss PE and people dont know how to make it heroic? You want to randomly match up with these people without good weapons and no communication to play endgame activities that send you to orbit when you all wipe? Bungie thinks this is a bad idea and i agree. I do secretly hope they do introduce it so i can read about all of the people complaining about crappy matchmaking because the idiots dont know mechanics and cant stay alive. One guy quit out and ruined our run! I doubt they would back fill a heroic game mode if people left, people hate it when they join a crucible/gambit game mid match.

I’ve played Menagerie solo and with pre made groups (as well as combinations thereof) and let me tell you: randoms are NOT gonna complete a 770 activity with Extinguish on. Bungie is saving you endless frustration by forcing you to curate your team ahead of time.

They could do match making but no one would use it because it would be a waste of time for everyone. You need teamwork, strats and communication. What are you gonna do when MM gives you 5 arc titans running helm of saint 14 and side arms!?

Easy solution. Add bungie's lfg services to the actual game to make them more accessible and useful.

Some people on here are dense man, they don’t get that you are arguing to have matchmaking and be able to have groups as well, some peoples posts on here are like bungee forcing everyone to matchmake would be terrible, what the hell you dumb dumbs, it would be optional, for those that want to form a group, fine, I know for a fact that matchmaking would get more people to play the game witch would be in bungies best interests.

You need to communicate given the wipe mechanics in heroic or everyone’s restarting. A random team without communication is going to fail more often than succeed unless they’re all MLG pro. My gaming time is valuable. I have other priorities in the real world. When I fire up the Xbox and attempt a hard activity I prefer to do it in a fireteam with clanmates or friends. We figure things out a lot faster that way.

While it looks nice on the outside, Reckonning showed matchmaking something like this will suck. Removing the wipe mechanic just makes it normal menagerie. Let it play out first then if it aint so "hard" add matchmaking to it imo.

You dont need a mic to communicate, it can be done by other means. It's pretty obvious destiny is the only game most of this community has played that has raids in it.

If you really want that, then be ready to deal with the consequences when you wipe and return to orbit multiple times because you matched with uncoordinated randoms who don’t know how to do Menagerie.

4 RepliesI agree that taking away match making was a bad move. I'm a solo player and I was thrilled when I found out the menagerie had this feature. But I guess this door has been closed to solo players such as myself... since I only find Lfg useful for niche situations such as gather an EP grinding group for example.

The praise has nothing to do with matchmaking, but with the fool proof mode on normal Menagerie. But if you check how many encounters you actually make with randoms, it's just as much of a disaster (read: complete waste of time) as the Reckoning more than half the time. With Extinguish & randoms you'd fail so many times you'd go to LFG anyway to find a group with mics & a minimal understanding of the encounters.

Yes! I posted something similar... what a great mode and huge step forward... and now... Bungie is going to do what they always do and step on their own D and require a fire-team. Why? “Well, it would be too difficult for a bunch of randoms”... why make it so? Why complicate it with mechanics? This isn’t Myst, do not try and make it so... just stupid on their part.

3 RepliesFirst, if you don't know why they took out the matchmaking in menagerie heroic, i should recomend you going to LFG and do a raid with randoms without a mic (for example leviathan).
