Why Do People Not Raid?

Why do many of you guys not raid and avoid it like the plague, I even see some of you saying bungie shouldnt make the content simply because a lot of players dont play it. Why dont you try raiding? This isnt to attack people who dont or to attack casual players, as someone who plays this game for raiding I am just curious as to why some dont like them? Edit: So most of you seem the think raiders are all toxic, its just not the case, some of you see someone post KWTD and think they are toxic when in reality KWTD means watch a video and have an idea of whats going on and we can help you from there. Most raiders will help you if you ask and are willing to learn. If you dont like current LFGs that are up make your own. I cleared CoS by joining a raid team that was just NA CoS Fresh 730+, a handful of people didnt know what to do and the rest of the team taught them and we cleared it. If you want you can also wait and look for Sherpas, they are more rare but they exist to help you, I commonly post Levi sherpas or join people who post that its their first time. When you are upfront about being new and wanting to learn, the non toxic helpful people will come to you. Some of you said its complicated, its not, its a challenge and you have to be willing to lean it but its not at all over complicated. Theres lots of valid reasons posted but just assuming every raider is toxic is not a valid one because its just not true. Edit 2: A good suggestion made by logan678910 65 is to have a casual and hardcore raiding section for LFG, that would honestly be a great thing because then all those who think youll get toxic hardcore players can know that anyone joining your lfg in the casual section is also just wanting to have fun. Edit 3: If you think LFG is so toxic, post your own lfg, its not hard, ask for sherpas, ask for help, make it clear you want to be taught, otherwise you just look like you are trying to get carried. There are plenty of sherpas if you are just patient. Edit 4: If you are on PC and you want to raid and be shown it is in fact not toxic and that there are people who will teach you then add me Zoe41#1700. I will gladly teach anyone who is willing to learn, I wont carry you so dont come expecting me to do that, you are going to have to learn.

  • I hardly raid as I just find them so boring. Done a few hundred in d1 but leviathan and lairs are imo terrible. Last wish I actually enjoy has a bit of d1 feel to it the one after that I watched and was like na this don't look great did it with my clan as they where desperate for one extra and I'll never touch it again was terrible and the new raid looks OK tbf but haven't tried it as I just can't be bothered lol

  • Because LFG's you either get the tryhards that leave after 1-2 wipes, or the group of kids who don't bother to listen. It really just burnt me out so much that I haven't bother raiding since D2 launched. To me raiding feels more like a chore than it was back in D1. Puzzle after puzzle after puzzle that, while its new can be fun to figure out, gets ruined by aresholes who get impatient and leave then you're stuck LFG'ing for a half hour just to find someone who 9/10 times doesn't fit your group and is a task just to make a run with. That's why I stopped raiding; it just isn't worth the effort for the lackluster rewards you have a chance to get. Random rolls are great, but when it means I wasted weeks on end to finally get the gun I wanted to drop and its a shite perk roll. Overall, I just want a raid that's exciting and enjoyable again, not frustrating and pointless.

  • It can be difficult finding the right team. Thankfully I am in a good clan so have just started raiding again, they still don't feel as good as D1 but whatever. I did the Crota raid the other week with some clannies and it was the most fun I have had in Destiny for a long time. I can also understand why people avoid it, trying to find 5 other members who need to have the same dedication as you to finish the whole thing, trying to communicate with 5 people chatting in a party can be a nightmare. What makes a game for me is finding the right people, there is a lot of toxicity, not just in this game, but all of them. Find a good active clan and go from there, if your clan is inactive then leave it now and join one that is active.

    • For me, it is a choice for 1 I suck at jumping and 2 they have become so complexed. D1 raids were fun none of, well not as much, must have this that and the other. I remember me crouching in the corner because I was so under leveled and my team carrying me. We did this all the time to help each other it was so much fun. The banter was amazing.

    • Since D1 I've avoided Raids like the plague. I only go if my clan asks. I remember being kicked from a clan because I was grinding to level up. They asked me to raid but I was so busy with a strike to answer and they kicked me. I can't be bothered with annoying people. I jump into this game to have fun and escape the bs that life throws at you. I don't come to Destiny to be attacked, yelled at or pressured. This goes for PVP as well. I don't enjoy Raids and I absolutely hate PVP.

      • Let's be real here. Menagerie is, currently, the best version of Raids in D2 at the moment and it's not even a Raid.

      • Raid mechanics designed only to make world's first races last longer is the biggest reason why alot of people don't raid in D2

I raid, all be it a little inconsistently; depends when I have friends online. That being said I have been in with a lot of LFG teams and 90% of them all have the "I just want to go in and get it done in a timely manor" be it because of limited play time or degradation of nerves. I completely understand that mentality. It's pushing on 10pm, you've got crap to do in the morning and this is your only time to play. You'd rather not waste 3-4hrs being stuck on the same encounter because someone can't kill their major or keeps dying to stupid nonsense. Ideally, you'd find some players who are of similar minds and skill and can pull together and beat the baddies in half an hour, an hour max. Sadly that is a rare occurrence for most teams and i hear about it all the time. In D1 this was more manageable. Most of the encounters were solid and you could very well lose half your team and still be able to double down and pick up slack without having to be a god tier elite player. In D2, most of the raid encounters are heavily based on individual effort (not a bad idea) which is usually tied to a mechanic. More often than not if one person dies, that disrupts the entire flow of the raid and it usually cannot be corrected in time and thus everyone has to wipe. It's a common loop in these raids. I'f you don't have a dedicated raid team, most lfg randoms do not and will not ever want to be stuck in that loop. I feel that is a reason to why a lot of people don't play raids. Mind you 80% of this games playerbase is thw casual guy who gets on to shoot face and that's about it. Maybe 10-15% is the hardcore who can and do have dedicated teams to run raids with on a weekly basis and they rarely feel this BS. I mean heck, raids in Destiny barely have 10-15% completion across the entire playerbase (if you go by trophy /achievement stats)

      • I think time is a big factor, unless you play with the same people one bad LFG guy can take a clear from 40 mins to 4 hours and it's just not worth it.

      • Anyone can learn the raid, but in the end it’s the personalities that coexist in a fire team that challenges/destroys the experience. Then imagine at least half a clan of bad attitude, Lordy. A good amount of people don’t have a large friend pool, have the same interests, are willing to put pressure (time) on themselves for raids. Then you have the lfgs and their requirements. Raids are mechanically way more involved than in D1. Tokens, lack of difficulty progression (flawless or “regular” mostly). On top of that, no intrinsic perk on armor or weapons, unless you’re blessed with a mod. All that culminates in what we have now. I get by primarily on lfg, but it takes a lot energy.

        • I tried Raiding. First time I raided (Leviathan) it was really fun with the random people I played with, but after that I got to many sh!t teammates. I‘m not saying they were bad I‘m saying they were angry about everything, didn’t even care that much, no mic, not saying that they didn’t understand something, children, annoying sounds in the background and more... It’s so hard to do a raid with that kind of people especially when the raids have complicated mechanics!
...and I play on console. I don’t know how it’s on PC.
• What you say is true but every group I get either give up after the first fail, ask you if you have a certain wearon so we can speed kill, or they kick me and invite someone who is less experienced saying we are gonna help him, what about me huh; not to mention they kick me saying ig it's too hard for you and we wanna get this done, whenever I was the only one shooting the boss while you all were in a corner playing with yourselfs.

          • I used to raid frequently when more of my friends still played. I'm probably still a pretty solid raider, but I just can't find the motivation to raid anymore. I did four runs of Last Wish. Managed to get 1K Voices to drop on my third run and helped my buddy who got lucky on our fourth run. Haven't touched a raid since. None of the gear really stood out to me after Last Wish, and I've got plenty of stuff to do in the rest of the game without having to find/put together a 6-man fireteam. Until the gear starts looking appealing again, I'm probably just going to keep farming the other activities.
Though I might have to try and go for that new Exotic SMG. That looks quite nice.
• I have a serious problem doing the mechanics and at my age I get confused and embarrassed to hold the team back. So to save them time and me messing up and embarrassing myself I choose not to do it.

              • I think a lot of people that do raid don’t wanna raid either. Every encounter feels like people are there just to be done with it “let’s just meet Kalli on a plate and burst her so we don’t waste our time” “bring your mountaintop or outbreak, I don’t have time for a 2 phase” “Wait, people used to go to both rooms on Riven? How does that even work?!?” I think leviathan just kinda killed it for the large portion of the raid community that just loved raiding, and most of the people that are left just never raided to begin with or are only in it for the loot

                • Its the mechanics, not only do i personally find them convoluted. But im hands on, i cant sufficiently learn from watching a video im autistic, i need to learn by doing. But people tend to not be able to handle mistakes. Menagerie is very nice, while a team that communicates is a plus, i didnt need any explanation the first time i entered the mechanics seemed more or less obvious and achievable with some decent effort, i like the idea of raids, but i feel regular- prestige needs a different kind of variance changing mechanics is ok i guess, but id kinda want a raid were its more linear. Kill things and get good loot. Now dont take me for a pleeb who wants an easier route because i cant do it, im currently working on my 4th seal and ive got over 61k triumph score. But some of the mechanics in raids are demanding and leave little to no room for error. This makes it harder for people with less time to make mistakes. I want to enjoy the game and i dont find raids enjoyable. But i want the loot. I mean im no lore nerd but the shadow realm when fighting calus, i mean what even is that? Shoot floating things coming out of some ethereal effigy of calus's face to stack damage to hurt him? At least killing xol made sense, take the weapon overload its core to absorb excess energy into it to increase its damage capacity. Now that seems reasonable.

Its boring and all the weapons from the raids suck. I wanted a snapshot supremacy and a 1k voices and now after 20 last wish runs I have both and never plan to do it again. Literally nothing from the new raid has my attention and the armor is horrible on all classes. It just takes up a bunch of time for not much reward

They honestly just don’t look like fun. Maybe if I saw some must-have armor or weapons, the closest has been the Scourge raid because I really want the scout but I also don’t want to deal with what looks like yet another tedious grind. And I’ll never forgive Bungie for making the Last Wish raid a Taken raid instead of hunting Ahamkara. They took the one piece of lore I was desperate to see play out in game and turned it into yet another boss that sits there while you shoot the glowy bits. What the hell, Bungie. Seriously, just what the hell.

I either don’t have time And/OR don’t like the raid gear/ I’m satisfied with the non raid gear and it’s not worth my effort to grind even more for raid gear with the rolls I want. This isn’t D1 raid armor or weapons we are talking about, its D2, very different
