Why do many of you guys not raid and avoid it like the plague, I even see some of you saying bungie shouldnt make the content simply because a lot of players dont play it. Why dont you try raiding? This isnt to attack people who dont or to attack casual players, as someone who plays this game for raiding I am just curious as to why some dont like them?
Edit: So most of you seem the think raiders are all toxic, its just not the case, some of you see someone post KWTD and think they are toxic when in reality KWTD means watch a video and have an idea of whats going on and we can help you from there.
Most raiders will help you if you ask and are willing to learn. If you dont like current LFGs that are up make your own. I cleared CoS by joining a raid team that was just NA CoS Fresh 730+, a handful of people didnt know what to do and the rest of the team taught them and we cleared it.
If you want you can also wait and look for Sherpas, they are more rare but they exist to help you, I commonly post Levi sherpas or join people who post that its their first time. When you are upfront about being new and wanting to learn, the non toxic helpful people will come to you.
Some of you said its complicated, its not, its a challenge and you have to be willing to lean it but its not at all over complicated.
Theres lots of valid reasons posted but just assuming every raider is toxic is not a valid one because its just not true.
Edit 2: A good suggestion made by logan678910 65 is to have a casual and hardcore raiding section for LFG, that would honestly be a great thing because then all those who think youll get toxic hardcore players can know that anyone joining your lfg in the casual section is also just wanting to have fun.
Edit 3: If you think LFG is so toxic, post your own lfg, its not hard, ask for sherpas, ask for help, make it clear you want to be taught, otherwise you just look like you are trying to get carried. There are plenty of sherpas if you are just patient.
Edit 4: If you are on PC and you want to raid and be shown it is in fact not toxic and that there are people who will teach you then add me Zoe41#1700. I will gladly teach anyone who is willing to learn, I wont carry you so dont come expecting me to do that, you are going to have to learn.

Edited by Zen Ape: 6/18/2019 3:51:12 PMI've had some truly great raid experiences in Destiny, but they are few and far between. Not all of us have a lot of players at our disposal who will jump at a raid chance. I for one am in a VERY small clan, which really handicaps in this game. Also it's time. I can't tell you how many raids started with some people talking about how it would take an hour to an hour and a half and the next thing you know you're 4 hours in, emotions and patience are frayed, people are arguing or just quitting. It's not fun. Then there's the mechanics and puzzles and everyone must KWTD. KWTD might help you know what object you need to jump on to be safe, but it sure isn't going to help you make that jump. Or the 50 jumps that come after it. I felt really bad for one guy one night who couldn't jump to save his life. What should have taken us roughly 10 minutes took over an hour. And if there were 5 other very patient and encouraging people with him that night, maybe he'd still be playing this game and the whole thing could have been a positive experience that he learned and grew from. There wasn't though. I hear every now and then he logs on for Iron Banner and plays solo, but you can bet he'll never raid again. So yeah, there are a whole lot of reason why everyone doesn't raid. Mostly it comes down to time, and other people though. I salute you guys who have a great amount of both, honestly I'm envious.

5 RepliesI raided in d1, where albeit the raids were easier but they actually made sense and were fun in my opinion. I want to fulfill a mechanic and shoot a boss, not solve a fvckin rubics cube
-
9 RepliesGetting into party chat with randoms is not appealing to me. Menagerie is great simply because party chat is not needed. The toxicity of trying to play with randoms, a-holes, annoying imbeciles and such is enough to keep me away from raiding forever.
-
I used to. Hundreds of clears across the 4 raids in D1.... I think one clear of that circus leviathan put me right off... Then with last wish I could sneak in and grab the loot without even playing it.... Plus there's almost zero incentive to, now that you can reach max light by killing boars in the forrest.
-
I use to raid daily in D1. Fun encounters, worthwhile rewards, and neat challenges. All of which are missing in Destiny 2. Most of D2's raids are mediocre at best I haven't done CoS but I have no desire to or expect it to be any better.
-
I would like to raid but after having many many bad experiences with LFG and discord I just stopped. If it’s not match made I don’t fück with it
-
I avoid it because i find it boring, i have more fun in normal strike. But then again any PVE activity makes me feel like i am beating up helpless 2years old leukemia patient, it never feels challenging or rewarding.

Seems ppl do raids for 1 item these days like last wish for 1k But for me these days time required have kid now used to raid slot in d1 but simply can't now

Edited by STiNKyWizLTeaTs: 6/16/2019 4:48:03 PMThe raid is not the problem. There is a major difference between raiders in D1 and D2. In D1 I used to run teams through raids and we would purposely die so that the new players could actually learn the mechanics. It might be being teleported in VOG or running the sword in Crota. We got a lot of satisfaction that another person actually learned how to do everything. No one got frustrated...it was so much more relaxed and it was really an insane amount of fun. Come to D2, and granted I came in late when Forsaken came out, but this is not fun. I have many other things to do besides study Youtube videos for an hour. No one has any patience for any type of mistake. A week into the new raid and you already need to KWTD. This is a video game for entertainment. I don't need any other stress in my life from something that I use to relax. If you want stress, worry about interest rates, oil prices, Chinese and Mexico tariffs on imports/exports. The prices of the next gen consoles and pc's will skyrocket as China hordes the precious metals we need to satisfy our lust for new tech. As a result, I and many others do not even try. I have done most of the Last Wish and most of EOW. I screwed up the heart run one time as I did not know when I get teleported I needed to get the orbs. No one ever told me that is what I needed to do. So, that was my last time ever trying a raid. I have no interest due to the attitude of the new players that have gravitated to Destiny 2. I cannot, of course, speak for everyone, but I am sure I speak for plenty.

I don't like taking an hour+ to finish an activity. It gets rather annoying. I like the managerie because it's don't in half the time and I can take a break.
-
Because it requires effort and a Mic. Hi, introverted clan Founder here.

A better question would be “why DO people raid?”. Considering in most ALL MMO type games raiders (or at least non-match made raids) tend to be less than half, and often times a much much smaller segment of the player base. It actually surprises me that some games still develop raids considering so few people play them (years ago WoW was going to stop making raids but opted to add easy mode instead). I assume most who raid are young without significant responsibilities, as when I raided that’s what my life was like... which in turn could also be the reason those without the extra time or lack of responsibility often avoid that group like the plague. Long story short... Ain’t enough time in life. And as the population statistics show, most people are too busy.
-
Raids take too long, mechanics are ludicrous. People have way too high expectations and requirements. Not my kind of style.
-
I can level up via Crucible, and because I like to compete, that's where I spend the majority of my time in this game. Unlike in D1, I don't find raiding enjoyable, and there's no loot I care for in the raids.

5 RepliesPersonally? Because I hate the rez tokens. I hate the new formula over the d1 version. The rez token+the timer to be rezzed. D1, normal raid, if I die, I can get rezzed at anytime a team mate can get to me. D1, hard mode, if I die, I'm dead for the duration of that encounter but my snafu doesnt auto wipe the team because I'm not as spatially aware as them. They still have a chance to be victorious. D2, if I'm down, I must be rezzed in time or the team wipes. Even in normal mode. Which I think just isnt as conducive to a learning environment. That is of course just my opinion. I suppose I could just 'get good', right?

2 RepliesI raided in wow and a little in destiny honestly raiding brings out the most annoying side of people. The raids can last a fairly long time if you don't 1 shot each encounter such classics as..... vape/bong rips every 5 min even in the middle of an encounter guy or who could forget the never ending muncher or WiFi DJ who will play his music with low sound quality so loud you can feel your eardrums pulsing. Raiding is awful because people are awful and while yeah yeah not everyone is that bad all it takes is one turd in the punch bowl to ruin the batch.

For me: I was determined to do a raid knowing it was the last year of D1. After attempting Wotm with several groups and getting as far as Aksis, I finally LFGd with a clan and we completed the raid (we got to phase II Aksis, on the first night then they invited me back on another night that week to complete it). I joined that clan. They then took me through all the other raids (although I solo’d Crota) D2 comes along and we do weekly leviathan raids together. It’s good as we learn together and have built up quite a good relationship over the last year. My clan falls apart when Curse of Osiris is released. Now I don’t have the energy in me to LFG until I find an understanding group, not really do I have the time to dedicate to a clan. Raids are by far the best part of Destiny, but they are suited to people with large friend groups playing the game, which sadly I now lack

I think it would be cool if you could matchmake/or LFG into a practice arena with no rewards tied to it for those that are trying to learn it. You could chop up each area of the raid and just matchmake into those. Have it drop 2-4 weeks after the original drops so the more casual crowd has a place to learn. I am learn by doing kind of person. I can watch youtube videos all day long but until I am actually in there it is hard for me learn it. Again, practice arena, no rewards. I think this would get another group of people into raiding and maybe find some friends along the way.

3 Repliesreasons: .no matchmaking .mic needed .friends needed .no reason to .no drive to .to toxic

4 RepliesEdited by mdknyte: 6/16/2019 3:31:58 PMBecause I don't want to set myself up to be the a-hole that keeps messing up, feels like a worthless idiot and ruins everyone else's fun. I don't want to have people have to wait on me to mess up 10 times before I get how to do something. YouTubers make it seem incredibly complicated and stressful, like you need to have A+ reflexes and surgical focus. If there was like an easy-practice mode that had no rewards and didn't count for anything, that way you can learn with other matchmade blueberries where it was known that this is for practice, it's ok to fail, i would use that, learn, THEN go in confident to try the actual reward/loot raid that counts. Maybe make that practice mode let you choose the specific encounter - and when you and the blueberries pass it, it sends you back to space so you wouldn't need to spend hours in there, you can learn one encounter at a time. You can leave whenever, you can revive whenever, and it replaces players that leave automatically like strikes. Point is, this is "learning mode." It would even let you choose to do the transitions from encounter to encounter solo to practice since those are usually the dreaded jumping puzzles that way you could familiarize yourself with them and fail solo without seeing everyone running ahead and leaving you behind. I for SURE would practice each step, stress free, then get that tingle you get when raiding for the first time feeling confident and still get that great feeling you get when you finish a raid for the first time. For reference, there's an ascendant challenge - forget which one - that has a jumping puzzle with shooting orbs, spinning platforms and one troll platform that you actually need to avoid and use another one before getting to the boss... I practiced that solo and failed my first 10 attempts until i learned the path and finished it. In that instance no one is forced to deal with my failures, i learn and get confidence, and now if anyone wanted to do that challenge with me as a team i'm down. That's basically why I've never raided in D2. D1 I did do the raids because on YouTubes they seems sooooooooooo much less complicated. Might be that they're not actually as complicated as they make it seem but I'm not willing to make myself feel like crap in front of 5 people that are sweaty try hard elites with 9000 clears and KWTD. :(

4 RepliesI don’t raid because I can never find a group. I’ve gave up on Leviathan when Curse of Osiris launched. Tried LFG a dozen times. Changed clans twice. Never got into a group. Returning now because I was told Menagerie was great - with matchmaking. Now I find I can’t access it because I can’t talk with Benedict 99-44 or whoever, so I can’t even do that.
-
4 RepliesI don't avoid the raid like the plague I avoid the raiders like the plague because the toxicity they radiate is on level with elitist comp players.
-
1 ReplyI don’t want to run into toxic people and also don’t like the idea that I’m holding people back :/ When I first started destiny I didn’t have the time for teaching runs (or just raids in general) so I guess that mentality stuck.
-
1 ReplyTime restraints and the mechanics, not to mention the whole “KWTD” mentality.
-
6 RepliesEverything is always KWTD and have 19 million and I’ll check and you will be kicked. It just ain’t worth wading through a sea of shit to get a decent raid team.
-
2 RepliesTakes too much time, no matchmaking, too many complex mechanics for a shooter.
