Old B.netter's opinion
(which will be down voted and hated on by the vapid)
I personally do not participate in them, and honestly never cared about it. But, it's become epidemic in here anymore, and has become annoying to see it so rampant. So many kids want to be the leader, they copycat the formula, make their own RP thread, lather, rinse, repeat.....
There seems like there ought to be limits to when it's so over done, and by basically the same individuals all the time that they could just make their own private group and keep it out of here. That's what groups were and are for - For people with a common interest to band together, socialize, and do their thing. Out here, no single group or thing should over run the forum.
I'm not expecting it to change any time soon, until these individuals have gotten bored with wearing out the same old stuff over and over again, and leave. Which will eventually happen.
So many kids want to be the leader, they copycat the formula, make their own RP thread, lather, rinse, repeat.....
This is exactly what loses my interest. I prefer to play a side roll, as should most powerful creatures. But too many people would rather be blinded by their own light.

I honestly do not remember any RP’ing in old Bnet. In The Flood. In any groups. Shits weird.
-
The Flood was actually established because of the "laser war" that occurred between users on the Halo forums. You still have the full right not to like it, just thought it was interesting to note

cobra for pres 2020 xd
-
It is a personal opinion, so I will say it is fair.
-
But... but it's people just having fun! Leave if you don't like it!!1eleven!!
-
I'm not opposed to them having fun. I personally just get tired of the repetition of it. Then again, I mute the threads, so not that big of a deal either. I just would like to see these people try to make actual discussion-able material for once.
-
That doesn’t exist here anymore. I actually like the political posts because it’s at least something worth discussing.
-
“-blam!- off” “No u” Yeah real conversation.
-
Was thinking the same thing myself. I remember when political posts were boring to me a year or so back. But now I see one and it's a breath of fresh air to me.
-
Hard disagree, political posts are the worst shit here. They were the reason I left for #Gaming. I deal with them now only because #Gaming was nuked.
-
Truth be told, the majority of political posts were strictly troll posts by the same handful of individuals all the time. Once in a while there would actually be a decent political topic where people of both sides actually worked out their disagreements, to a point. There were still those blatantly trolling in those same threads, but again people miss one HUGE factor to eliminate seeing threads or posters they don't like or simply hate. Mute them. There is nothing cowardly about removing what you consider garbage from your realm. It would amaze those who can't seem to get this simple fact through their heads, that once you remove a toxic poster from your sight, everything starts looking much better. If everyone did that to these people, they would eventually either stop or go away from lack of entertainment value to themselves. Those who get their jollies off of arguing with them are just as ignorant.
-
Not saying I actually enjoyed political posts, I never participated in them. Hell I'm the first to fall asleep if politics is talked about. I guess what I'm trying to say is this place has gone downhill so much to the point where even I, prefer political posts over these RP posts. Which really says something.
-
The main thing I'm seeing is a lot of people complaining that there are no discussion worthy posts, but I've also seen these same people post nothing at all or very little since I've been here. If people want it to change, they should be the change they want to see.
-
I agree with you but you have to keep in mind that a lot of people have reasons not to post. They might have never been one to post at all even in the better times, only coming here to participate in conversation on posts that interested them. Or someone like myself, there was a time where I had created a bunch of well received posts and thoroughly enjoyed it. Why don't I try again? Quite frankly I just don't see the point. My creative and thought provoking posts would be lost in a sea of what people post now. No one seems to care about meaningful discussion here anymore. The people here have changed, or are completely different. It used to be a silly place but everyone had time to have interesting discussions. Forgive me as this may sound very stupid, but I genuinely believe the majority of users here these days are quite young. Not that I'm old, I'm 21. But I just see such an increase of immaturity around.
-
My creative and thought provoking posts would be lost in a sea of what people post now. No one seems to care about meaningful discussion here anymore.
Albeit this is true, you can't stop trying if your posts actually have substantive merit. If you haven't noticed by now, the ones who flood the forum with threads screaming for attention normally only have a shelf life of a year. 2 tops. Those who actually contribute and participate seem to remain indefinitely.
Not that I'm old, I'm 21. But I just see such an increase of immaturity around.
Age =/= maturity This is something you are realizing because you are coming into the time in life where responsibility and reality over shadow childish antics. It is why kids don't understand grown ups, and don't understand that grown ups understand them more than they think they do. Except when they do exceedingly destructive and simply dangerous things, for kicks and giggles.
-
See I find that self defeating attitude to be part of the problem. How do you know that more thought provoking posts would get lost under all of the others? Sure at first they might, but that's only because we don't have that sort of post here now. I understand part of the appeal to those types of posts is the engagement with other users, but you might have to make a few that don't stick. I don't know what it was like back in the days of Halo, but I feel with Destiny, Bungie's player base changed. I had and still have no real interest in Halo, because I love RPGs. But Destiny had piqued my interest, and I'd bet the same for many other RPG fans, (the ones more likely to RP).
-
I know that you're right about that. The attitude that nothing can change, and being pessimistic about making new posts can be unwarranted. Perhaps I'll visit this place more often even if only to reply to posts I find interesting. And if ever I get an idea, I'll go for it. Conversations even like this, are why I found myself here daily. So thanks for showing me that this place isn't all gone just yet as I thought it was.

Edited by Bopsheezi: 6/12/2019 6:54:41 PMIf only Bungie wassn't killing groups, especially on mobile, where I would wager most users use.
-
That is probably accurate.
-
I know I'd move to a group if it wasn't a pain in the ass to get to them.
