I play primarily on PS4 but recently dabbled in the PC realm when vanilla D2 was free on Blizzard. After a short session on PC, coming back to console felt like I was trying to run while using binoculars. I'd be happy playing PC if I could transfer my progress and characters from D1 & D2 over but I don't think that will ever be possible.
I know it isn't a hardware limitation as consoles have had FOV sliders for over a decade, so it must be software or coding related. So my plea is, please implement this option into D3 while the game is is development.

If current Destiny could barely handle the loading screens and loading areas. Now imagine it being forced to render more? Man you’ll be in those loading areas for like 5 minutes lol
-
FOV affects performance. If you want better version of D2 just play it on PC.
-
6 RepliesNot to be rude, but how does changing FOV change how you play?
-
Current FoV on my TV look horrible
-
Raising the fov could be a hardware problem. Higher fov requires a better system. Next generation of console might be able to handle it though.

22 RepliesUgh, another person who doesn’t understand that FOV heavily affects performance. Also, higher FOV isn’t necessarily better. You will have more visible screen real estate but it will also make it harder to aim and see objects in the distance because it will appear smaller. Personally, FOV set to 90 is the sweet spot for me. I believe D2 runs at 70 by default on consoles? Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

6 RepliesIf Rocket League can adjust FOV on console, there’s little excuse for most other games.

1 ReplyWe have to wait until D3? That shit should've been standard for D2.

Some interesting comments and also some ignorant ones, always gonna happen. Mostly about hardware limitations saying a wider FOV would affect performance. If you play on PC and monitor your memory and GPU performance in real time while moving between 85 and 105 FOV, nothing significantly changes. So to translate that to console, the difference between 85 and 105 should be well within current console specs and let's not forget 1 huge thing here, D3 is rumored to be releasing with next gen consoles. Keep the debate going but please use your manners.

1 ReplyEdited by DiZ: 5/14/2019 1:11:46 AMThe next sequel will probably be a next-gen launch title, so even if there's no FOV slider, it should have a wider one. But while I may not be a gaming hardware/software expert, I'm afraid that a wider FOV on the next-gen consoles may sacrifice higher frames.

They could bring it into this game people just say it destroys performance which it doesn’t but it won’t hurt anyone if they add it people who like default can keep it that way people who like above that can have it that way
-
If it's next gen, it's possible, given that they actually optimize the game for all platforms properly, so the platform it runs on still has a bit of reserve performance for people who want to play on higher FoVs. But looking at how inept, ignorant, and lost Bungie is, I quite highly doubt it's going to be a thing. They'll just slap together everything, "You're gonna play how we say so" and be done with it.

Yes please

3 RepliesThis is technically not really feasible on consoles, as larger FOV has direct impact on framerates (there is simply more to render). On consoles, the appropriate framerates cannot be guaranteed for large FOVs, hence there will likely be no such option, also in the future.
-
I honestly couldn't care less about this feature myself, but I know a lot of people enjoy having it. It would be a nice customization option.

I'm in the same boat. The FOV is valuable

This and faster sensitivities

I'll say this every time it's posted. I get why you want it but historically Bungie does not implement things that can give one person an advantage over another...particularly on consoles. Yes I get this is available on PC (Because they wouldn't be able to stop people from 3rd partying it) and I get that this would be available for any one to use, but the fact that it can and would be set differently for everyone would give advantages to those who knew how to use it 'better' than the other person. I can't predict the future but I'm highly doubting we'll see this in Destiny.

4 RepliesI don't want FOV on my console. I can't stand POV in adult videos. But I would definitely like to have PC movement speed on console.
