Lore on the civilians of the City and City life?
Would anyone else be interested to see some more lore on the City and it’s civilians and culture? Maybe even life in the city in general for everyone? I know we have some stuff like this, but it’s not a whole lot.
Maybe we could get some things like:
News articles detailing average life. Crime, gossip, sports, etc. (Id really like to hear more about wormspore smuggling)
A civilian point of view on the conflicts we’ve endured over the years. Black Garden, Taken War, Rise of Iron, Red War, Forsaken, etc.
What civilians and fellow Guardians think of the player character. How do they feel about this one Guardian who has done so much for the City in so little time.
Maybe a brief history on the founding of the City. Some more stuff to learn about our home.

It would definitely make the world feel more alive. I don’t care for anyone in the destiny universe besides maybe the drifter and not cayde CSU’s whd is already dead. Imagine in d3 the tower opens up and you go down and talk to people and they aren’t boring conversations. Their could be merchants, kids playing, etc... if the tower does get destroyed make old Chicago it’s own open world. You start off in the social space you take out your ghost boom you pop out your ship and race it across the grassland filled with hills and a huge open world eventually you find enemies scattered along the ground. You hop off your ship and take them out.

5 RepliesSounds great, but that would take too much effort unfortunately lol. Not trying to be negative; new lore would be easy to add, but an actual interactive space in the city would require new environments, voice acting, character rendering, etc. Might be something good for D3 tho.

3 RepliesOn a cultural basis I think it’d be a mixture of mid eastern and Asian. From what we’ve seen in regards to decor, the homes have Persian-esq ornaments with ornamental tapestry. Clothing is similar to traditional Islamic garments. Societal standards are most likely that of the modern west. Considering we see a variety of races working together, segregation never resurfaced after the collapse. Both men and woman are seen around the tower, so gender equality has to exist to some degree. Day-to-day life is most likely: get up, prepare for the day, go to work, come home, watch some crucible, go to bed, restart. We know citizens celebrate the holidays alongside guardians. Religion has probably been altered due to aliens existing, and the traveler being revered as a god. I’d imagine that work for citizens is that if a industrious country with a good portion also going towards agriculture.

I wouldn't mind. That's something that would really get players to maybe care about the city and the characters.

They work all day in factories or something and go home to eat ramen and watch crucible. Then they do it all over again for their entire extended lifespans

1 ReplyI think it is similar to how most modern nations' societies work. There is an upper class, a middle class, a lower class, slums (as seen in SotP), pretty must the same as you would see in North America, Western Europe, And Eastern Asia. Except of course for the Super-powered Military force, Giant Dyson Sphere the size of Manhattan floating above it, and multiple Alien Races constantly trying to invade it...
