So Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's online mode has this very nice feature where you can set your preferred ruleset, and then when matchmaking it will use 30 seconds to find other players that match your ruleset. If 30 seconds have passed without a match it will just pick a player that matches your ruleset as much as possible.
Implementing something similar for all Crucible modes in Destiny would be perfect. Bungie could add a dropdown to the pre-launch activity screen where we can (optionally) choose our preferred Game Type, and matchmaking can then first reserve 30 seconds to find a game that matches our preference, after which it will just pick any other game as per usual.
Bungie could also add a button prompt during matchmaking to press Square / X / E to increase the counter with an additional 30 seconds once or twice (like in GTA V where you can increase the matchmaking timer) in case the Fireteam Leader is okay with waiting a bit longer to have a better chance of getting a preferred game type.
Maybe in the future (as in: Destiny 3) this could also be extended to a full preferred ruleset like in Smash Ultimate. But for now I'd just be happy to propose my preferred game type to the Matchmaking system. This would probably eliminate the need for weekly specific playlists.
To me this looks like an easy and democratic way of choosing game types without starving player population for the less popular game types too much.

Option to set preferred map!!!

1 ReplyYes, at this point im about done with control

Bungie implementing something as innovative as this is about as likely as me phasing into the 4th dimension.

Or at least bring back what you can choose to play in Crucible. You know, from Destiny 1. Where we have a CHOICE. Just a nice suggestion! 👍

When your playerbase is high enough, you have more to work with. Some things Bungie cant do, and other things they wont do. They seem so hell bent on eschewing the basics, that it took games 25 years to perfect, to create their own thing.

3 Repliesinstead of turning Destiny into Super Smash Bros or GTA V or any other title. Just REMOVE crucible in total and end the problem all together.

Oh god yes. Please. If i could limit the amount of countdown and survival i have to play while in the comp playlist i would be the happiest person alive.
-
That and being able to vote on maps would be most appreciated. I'm betting there are a lot of maps and modes that players would never use.

1 ReplyYeah, it would be funny to see countdown never get played because nobody wants to. I'm not sure how well this would work or if bungie would even want to do it with destiny but thanks for proposing a new idea.

2 RepliesWhat we need is voting. This way playlists aren't seeing low populations from being avoided entirely but people can still pick what they want to play. Literally just go into the QP lobby then vote on a map and gamemode like CoD or Halo games past Reach.

I want this so bad. I never want to play Control ever again.

5 RepliesThere is a function similar to this in Titanfall 2, where players can set what game-modes they want to play when booting up multiplayer and it will only search for matches that fit the selected items. It still pulls games and players from one single player pool though, so someone who has 'Attrition' and 'Titans-Only' will be able to match up with the people who selected 'All' or 'Titans-Only' and 'Pilots-Only'. It was a decent method of letting players choose their game-modes but also attempt to keep the player-pool as close together as possible.

9 RepliesI tried recommending this once to them. Basically give us a way to opt out of certain game modes we do not want to play and the matchmaking algorithm would pair you with guardians that want to play a game mode that was not a part of your opted out modes.
