• Re: Luna's Howl and Not Forgotten changes for Season of Opulence The team has been hard at work on these changes, ensuring the weapons are still viable (and heavy hitters) in the sandbox. Coming from playtests, they still feel to be the "pinnacle" legendary hand cannons of Destiny 2. To answer a few questions: • The weapon retains the recoil and animation of 180 RPM Precision handcannons • The change to Magnificent Howl prevents 2tap kills. Ex: Players could get 2 headshots on one enemy to proc Magnificent Howl, and then defeat another in just 2 headshots. We'll be watching feedback as it comes in, and once the changes go live in Season of Opulence. Cheers to all chiming in with their thoughts. Keep asking questions, and we'll answer where we can.

    • Coming from a PC player who earned NF through sweat and tears, here is my feedback: - First of all NF is supposed to be the big boy of pinnacle weapons, nerfing it to a 150 is somewhat fine and understandable if you keep its recoil and in-air accuracy as is, the part that really makes no sense is the perk changes. Why do you change the "top" pinnacle weapons to reward a lack of accuracy, if anything remove the buff to body shots completely and keep the possible 2 tap if the guy kills 2 guardians with 5 crits in a row. I do not understand the complete uselessness you're turning Mag Howl into, nobody cares about increased body shot damage, it's like a poor man's headseeker perk made for hand cannons, which is really dumb since it's supposed to be the weapon of choice for your most "elite" PvP players, if anything remodel the perk completely where it STILL REWARDS ACCURACY, not the opposite. - Fix your stupid bloom problem on consoles which keeps hurting the entire PC community: There is valid HC options outside of LH/NF for us because we don't bloom all around. FPS and RNG bullets simply have no business together for any sort of PvP. - Reduce aim-assist on those guns for controller users and give them more viable options as stated in my previous point. You won't encourage more people to play crucible by giving them a midnight coup as a pinnacle reward. Notice that the people who complained the most about those guns will STILL get stomped in quickplay by the same players using whatever other gun they have. I personally will probably lean towards Ace/TLW loadouts which are even MORE annoying for lower skilled players due to flinch, 2 tap possibilities and ridiculous poor aim ttk (hello last word). Realize that on PC the vast majority of what's left of your regular PvP population are people who can at least make it to 2100 glory to get LH and that you're catering to people who won't even fix the population problem. As far as everyone -blam!- about recoveries and the sheer amount of those 2 weapons out there, I have zero problem giving NF to everyone in its current state (at least for M+KB users), because you can tell in 10 seconds whether or not the person using it actually earned it or not. We see a bunch of those standing still LH/NF shooters and they're as easy to kill as if they were using a green auto-rifle, the only people they kill easier and faster are other people who focus on the wrong aspects of the game rather than awareness of their surroundings, vertical movement or peek shooting like all decent players do. You're not fixing anything, you're just listening to angry PvEers who expect PvP to reward the same skills as they have from running raids. It's like if you listened to PvE raid encounter feedback from players who do nothing but PvP and then go run the raid once a month and believe it sucks. There will always be another weapon that's next in line to punish bad players, truth is those same players would die to practically anything (on PC). TL:DR; NO BLOOM ON CONTROLLERS, DON'T REWARD INACCURACY ON PINNACLE PVP WEAPONS!

    • Luna/NF nerf: After waiting a few days for the initial knee-jerk reaction and frustration to wear off, I am trying to look at this as objectively as possible. Should they be nerfed? No, at least not as you want them. There are deeper underlying problems within the game that need to be addressed and have been prevalent for months and years. One of the biggest ones: bloom and recoil issues for hand cannons. This is a non-issue for PC players, so this nerf really only applies to console users (which I am one of). The reason Luna/NF are so dominant in the Crucible is because there aren’t really any other viable options to use to be “competitive.” That being said, there are a handful that have the playing potential to out-perform the Pinnacle hand cannons, but because of recoil issues and bloom (basically overall consistency with HC’s), it’s very punishing if your bullet RNG isn’t in your favor. Weapons that can compete: -Ace of Spades [with memento mori] -Kindled Orchid (with specific roles i.e. kill clip+rampage) -Service Revolver (Rapid hit+kill clip). While I do admit that these weapons are extremely powerful, as they should be, they are not the end all be all of the crucible; just because you equip these weapons doesn’t magically turn you into Super Mario. I have out-played guardians with Luna/NF using other weapon combinations, but I have also been outplayed using the very same pinnacle weapons. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but sometimes you have to employ some skill and logic to how you play and what you play with. Back in Season 4 when I started my Competitive grind, I had to adjust my play style and my weapon choices drastically so that I had a chance to counteract those that had already acquired Luna/NF. As for the issue of 2-tapping from Luna/NF being reasoning for nerfing Magnificent Howl? Yeah that’s a joke and such a bs answer, as this is such a rare occurrence and outlier to the VAST majority of kills people get with these weapons. Some suggestions that I have seen and heard from other people, friends, and content creators, are: -FIX bloom and recoil on console! This would drastically change the weapon dynamic for console users, and probably fix the very issue you are attempting to do by nerfing Luna/NF. -Change Magnificent Howl to only work on precision damage. In your own words, since aiming for the head is something players do naturally…..why would you change it to work on body damage only? -Change the Luna’s to 150 RPM as you intend, but keep NF where it is and make it an exotic. This way the lower tier/average guardians can mix things up and more variety is available. By keeping NF as it is, you are still giving the hardcore people that still want to chase it some incentive to do so, but it also will require changes in their loadouts once it is an exotic (no more dust rock-NF-wardriff). When there is literally zero benefit for quickly hitting 3 precision headshots from these weapons once they’re 150 RPM …then what is the point in using them? Here’s essentially the bottom line for you Bungie: Those players (myself included) that have spent dozens to hundreds of hours in Competitive and work my ass off to acquire the pinnacle weapons, this is a slap in the face to your dedicated PvP player base. The ONLY reason most people still play Competitive is because they are reaching for that coveted weapon. Since it requires tremendous skill and time invested to acquire, players at the top tier of the crucible (a.k.a. Legend) should be rewarded for their efforts. I’m not necessarily saying that these weapons will become worthless post-nerf (though I highly suspect it), you’re taking away everything that was special about them. I really don’t understand why you’re announcing this change now, over 6 months since the weapons have been released. I believe there are far more serious and pertinent issues involving Sandbox changes that you should be focusing on, and not just taking the easy route and nerfing something yet again. Play test it more (ACTUALLY PLAY TEST IT), get more feedback, consider some alternatives to what you are currently proposing, and then (and only then) you can implement changes to these weapons. This is a dangerous and slippery slope Bungie; if you start with this, how long until the Recluse gets nerfed? Then what about Ace of Spades? The Last Word? The list goes on. Without fixing the underlying problems, eventually we’ll all be back in Year 1 of Destiny 2, where nothing hits hard and everyone just goes back to playing passively, lane-camping, and running around in a massive pack to get kills. Simply nerfing weapons because casual players don’t have the time or skill to invest in getting them isn’t the answer. Remember what happened the last time you catered to casuals? It was called vanilla D2. Please avoid that at all costs.

          • How about giving the non-cheaters also a fair chance on getting these guns. Most people who have the guns used region routers, did matchmaking freezing, ddossed or got it by recovs. The match making in comp is messed up because of recovs, solos vs teams, resets every season and the 5500 cap. It is the worst and most frustrating game type in the game. Just make Redrix like quest for these guns. They are in game for a while now and like I said most people who have it cheated! Stop rewarding cheaters and reward dedicated fair playing players too. In my opinion to stop cheating create 2 ways on getting weapons like these. First way is a quick way by skill the second way is a long grind with like 5 valor resets and hand cannon kills and hand cannon head shot kills and a certain amount of wins in comp.

            • Nerf Pinnacle weapons? Why not create a quickplay where these weapons aren't allowed? OR Ban those that use your site for recoveries. Your whole crucible lfg is flooded with them! Don't punish those that earned your weapons the right way.

              • You know. To state again, all that really needs to happen is that you need to buff the damage of some other weapons which are failing to compete because of aping, change the fire animation for all hand cannons to be more in line with the animation of precision handcannons, and change the element of nf and howl to arc. By doing that players can combat the higher time to kill with simply using risk runner. The fact that you purposefully avoid any "meta primary" having arc damage to avoid it triggering riskrunner in pvp needs to stop. Sometimes using a really "meta" weapon should come with the downside that it leaves you exposed if someone has a really good counter weapon to your tactics.

              • Nerf yourselves. Your dumb decision making is too OP for this entire game. Stop calling them pinnacle weapons if all you’re going to do is shit on them when the crybabies won’t invest time to get them. Pinnacle gives people a reason to grind for them, but now since your forcing an entire archetype change I won’t waste my time grinding for next seasons pinnacles. Just a waste of time

                  • I will first start with this is my opinion the the Nerf.. ( I play on Pc ) and i do respect everyones opinion so please respect mine. I don't see the problem with Luna and NF, that they are so insanely strong as people state around here. I got my Luna the other day after countless of hours played solo que and hard work, then i mean hard work, tho i grinded after the last few quest step's during this lame Rivalry event that messed up Comp so badly. I'm really happy that i finally got my hands on Luna's Howl, but i have to state that, even tho i havnt used it yet, the weapon isnt that OP as you assume, I've met ton's of Luna / NF players during my grind, and i was only using handcannons like Ace and Trust, and sometimes i went to Thorn too, and man.. Even these 3 Handcannons can easly shred Luna's / NF.. More or less every weapon can outgun the Luna / NF, let's say as an example; and Average/casual player is using Luna / NF, and end's up playing against a high skill player that is using, MidnightCoop or Better Devils ( since you don't see them that much anymore ) the high skilled player will still dominate the one with Luna / NF. And second of all, they are Pinnacle weapons for the love of GOD! they are supposed to be the dominant weapon, they are weapons that are earned by massive grind and frustration. Only because majority or minority of the player base complains about the weapons cus they get shredded by them since they are only doing PvP for the weekly, dailies and bounties, and start to complain that the pinnacle weapons are too strong, if they are so strong (sorry for the language) but then get your damn head out of your ass and grind for that weapon your self... So in short, i don't see the reason to screw over the pinnacle weapons and slap the hardworking pvp players in the face! Thanks for reading!

                    • I am not a very good Crucible player and don't enjoy it most days because of that. I have gotten killed by Luna's Howl and Not Forgotten many times. While I think the people that have those weapons should be playing Comp instead of dominating my Quickplay game, I think it is ridiculous to nerf these weapons. They should be rewards suitable for the grind and challenge they are. If you want to address the advantage, make them unable to equip in Quickplay. I don't think that is even necessary though because when a player that is capable of getting one of those guns goes against me and others like me it doesn't matter what weapon they use.

This is an important and essential element in the time gated quest content for season of the drifter. How are you getting this easy stuff so wrong ? I really believe its not simple lack of play testing, lazy development or zero quality control...management has checked out...you dont care. Theres no other excuse. I mean last weeks Lunas nerf (isolating one weapon when crucible has larger sandbox and matchmaking issues) is an example as are so many issues going back to the launch of D2.

                      • WTF don't suppressor grenades work on any of the arc subclasses????? Why do you idiots constantly pick and chose what is the "overpowered" guns, subclasses and exotics then why you want to change you nerf them into the ground???? YOu are truly the biggest group of idiots ever. I would honestly like the money and time back that I invested into this lame ass, no vision, boring, repetitive, waste of a game. I would ask you to fix it but first of all you idiots created that and second of all you idiots take so long to change anything it will be years and that assumes you actually wouldn't turn around and ruin it worse. • Yet another reason to NOT play this game. It's incredulous how bad decision making is at this company. It's like your balance team is completely unaware of how the game is actually played and is always focusing on the minutia rather than the big picture. For example the first nerf to nova warp; the initial hit was EXTREMELY severe and later rectified. My first point here is that the sub class tree was punished out of viability completely with this change and anyone who liked to play nova warp was ostensibly forced to play a different class. This hurt snipers the most which is a complaint on an even deeper level but as to not digress I won't get into that too much right now. The bigger picture here being other supers were simply just as strong as nova warp if not stronger at the time. Prime contenders being sentinal shield roaming super and nightstalker blades roaming super. The problems with sentinal shield is the blocking, and i don't mention arcstrider simply because the verticality of the super is much much worse, and when you can simply negate ALL incoming damage just by holding a button there are gamebreaking repercussions like checkmate scenarios when it comes to super v super or in my favorite, COMPETITIVE countdown. I won't talk about nightstalker since it's on the list to be nerfed (-blam!-ing of course). But honestly, the biggest problems I have with supers isn't their killing potential or how long they -blam!-ing last, it's how HOW HARD they are to god damn kill. Why doesn't a carefully aimed sniper headshot kill someone in their super, it's extremely hard to hit someone moving so fast in the head. As a matter of fact you're most likely going to hit someone in their super with a body shot from a sniper and how much damage does that do? Around 47. That's FOUR -blam!-ing sniper shots to kill someone in their super. That's double the amount it should really take. So instead of looking at the game as a whole and how overpowered supers are AS A WHOLE, instead Bungie decides to make ONE SINGLE SUPER unusable and feel like shit to play. This is exactly what they're doing with these handcannons. Instead of looking at the big picture and trying to get most handcannons on equal footing within their class and also competitive with god forsaken pulse rifles they're just making these particular hand cannons obsolete and throwing them in the trash. So if anyone that loved these handcannons still feels like playing this dumpster fire game and wants to use a handcannon there will be only ONE choice and that's ace.

                                • @dmg04 If something is a pinnacle weapon, if it requires countless hours of grinding, if it’s meant to feel like a real accomplishment when you finally obtain it, then it should be powerful. I don’t think there’s an issue with NF/LH being too powerful; it’s that handcannons on console are otherwise fairly crappy and there aren’t a lot of viable counter options. On PC, where bloom, recoil management, and flinch are less problematic; Ace consistently competes with LH/NF. I think the more reasonable change would be to address these issues on console, bringing other handcannons more in line with LH/NF. If the main argument is “we don’t want this gun to be able to 2-tap” would it be possible to adjust so the magnificent howl only procs when applied to the same target? Also, changing magnificent howl to only proc on body shots will neuter these weapons in the PVE arena; why would I put two precision hits on a yellow bar then switch to a body shot before going back to the head?! There’s a lot of anger and grief in this thread about sandbox changes, and honestly, I haven’t agreed with some changes in the past but have accepted them and moved on and continued to play. Getting LH and then NF was a huge deal for me, and now the possibility of getting them nerfed to this degree will prob change my approach to the game, I won’t be grinding through hours of frustration for ‘pinnacle weapons’. More than likely D2 will be a casual game I turn on for an hour or 2 every couple weeks until I hang it up for good given the lack of PVP content. I’m not bashing the development team or sandbox crew; I’ve gotten some good years out of D2, but with this nerf I’ll be moving on, it’s just lost the appeal. But thanks for the good times until now
