i disagree fully with your assessment, other than the fact that nothing will get done. This is bungo we are talking about after all. However, This isn't just a pvp player vs pve player issue alone. This is a pve player vs pvp player issue where the pve/pvp players will lose out. Rather than removing a large chunk of what equates to game played time for many people, what they should really do instead is make sure crucible in d3 is more like it was in d1. Actually fun, actually engaging. Minimum team shotting required, the ability to go hero mode if necessary. This is why a lot of the pvp community has left, the crucible just isn't fun right now. Make it fun again, and bam! Everything is better! The only change i would make is just ensuring that any nerfs for PVP stay in PVP, unless it is also something that is ruining PVE. As much as I enjoy PVP, it hurts me to see weapons get nerfed for the PVE community to the point where nobody can use them for anything. It's also the reason we have so many peashooters in general in this game. The other reason for them leaving is how absolutely tedious and boring PVE has become. Most PVP players also play PVE in this game too. If the PVE is too boring and grindy, why would you stay to play this game when the PVP isn't even enjoyable? Thats not to say that we should have easier PVE content, but something needs to be done to make PVE less tedious. Things like the forges should be added alongside a DLC drop. I should feel strong against weaker enemies. Planetary vendors should actually update their inventories and sell new things with each DLC like they did in D1. Those types of things, you know? There is no reason to remove it fully. In fact, i think if Bungie promised everything i have outlined below, you would have more people coming back to the game. you'll get some people back with a full on drop of PVP, but you will also lose a fair chunk. I wouldn't play anymore, and i am someone who enjoys both aspects of the game. So in Summary: Step 1: Make crucible more like it was in D1 Step 2: Balance PVE and PVP separately so that PVE players are not impacted when something is too strong in the crucible Step 3: Build a more engaging, less tedious, but still challenging PVE landscape in which is more available to all players. Boom. Problem solved. Everyone is happy.

You're preaching to the choir man. I'm long past any hope of the pvp returning to a playable state. It's never going to happen, bungie simply doesn't have the talent to create an exciting sandbox. This has been shown through the years of regression. Bungie did nothing but double down on their terrible teamshot auto rifle meta as they lost the majority of their pvp scene in the few months after release. I'd prefer Bungie focus on their bread and butter, which is PVE. Also, it doesn't help that the game's balanced uniformly over both consoles and pc.

  • D1 year 1 crucible was the most fun i have ever had playing pvp in a game. I felt like there were so many options, and the only weapon that truly needed a nerf was the original vex mythoclast (i mean come on that thing was stupid good!) Otherwise, it was an absolute blast. If they could go back to that, man, I'd be so happy. Also, what a sad day this is when this is something that i see posted:
I'd prefer Bungie focus on their bread and butter, which is PVE.
From the game studio that basically revolutionized online gaming and has had two of the absolute best online multiplayer experiences in the history of games with Halo 2 and Halo 3. But you aren't wrong at this point. Even though most of the PVE content is very tedious and boring to get through, Bungie far exceeds here now as opposed to PVP. It's upsetting. Unfortunately though, i think the only thing this bungie will ever be focused on is their wallets. It's why we will never get immersive PVE experiences. Its why will likely not have a crucible similar to D1 ever again. Even with the drop of pvp, bungies focus will be on giving the least amount of content they can get away with for 10-15 bucks a pop.
