STREAMERS DO NOT REPRESENT THE COMMUNITY!

Is this plain and simple enough for you to understand? How much more do we have to say about this topic. Upvote please get this on the top of the forums! Update: great response! Let’s see if anyone at the top acknowledge this post. Update: well we got an answer but no real change, let’s face it the game is about $$$$ and that’s all. Streamers provide free advertising and that’s it. Side note I looked but not one of the money grubbing streamers replied to post (I could be wrong) but that just shows you they are not in touch with the community.

  • I'd rather streamers represent the community, than the players who only play like 1 hour before complaining.

Although I'm not a fan of streamers they do represent a large part of the community because they have 1000s of viewers. Do you know a 1000 people that play Destiny?

    • I think the amount of time needed to play just to power up is something the streamers like but is a little much for most that only have so much time. Keep in mind that they did bitch a whole lot when D2 launched and that did affect the play base so Bungie wants to keep them happy. I think year 3 D1 was the best position Destiny was in and they should look to get back to that for D3.

Streamers and content creators are hardcore gamers who attempt to make a profit by broadcasting their gameplay to viewers. These viewers engage with streamers and other viewers in chat sections. Each streamer focuses on specific content based their expertise and personal preference (pvp or pve), which coincides with the preferences of their audience. Both parties rely on the quality of a game's content to satisfy their wants and needs. If content is bad, viewers will lose interest and stop watching, therefore hindering a streamer's ability to make a profit. If content is bad, streamers will not want to play it. Thus, it is in the best interest of the streamer to do whatever they can to ensure high quality content that will keep their viewers watching. If a game developer needs players to test content and provide feedback, it makes the most sense to invite streamers and content creators. This is because they understand the game's current status, and observe the most community feedback though their stream chats, comments sections, discord servers, and more. Therefore, if asked to provide suggestions about how to improve or change a game's content a streamer or content creator will suggest what they believe will make the game the best it can be, because if the content is bad the community won't be interested in playing it - and in turn their audiences will dwindle...hindering them from making a profit. It's impossible to bring the whole community into bungie's HQ to test a game and give feedback, but they CAN bring in a handful of streamers who understand the community. Get a brain.

              • You don't either. Nor do the people on these forums. There are a lot of different people with different ideas for this game. They need to choose a group and it makes some sense to choose the people who might help drive new players to try it out. Not some rando that has zero influence with anyone except their grandma.

Ok, well then who does in your opinion? I can tell you right now, most of the people that post here don't speak for me, and that I don't speak for most of them either. So then, who would you elect to go represent you? I'm hearing a lot of crickets here... Let me put it to you another way: I am a prolific poster and commenter here, try to address game issues and improvements all the time from a moderate and logical standpoint. I am also a developer that has a lot of experience in the games industry, starting with AE Games back in 2001 (stay in school kids, don't work for EA). I have been through most of the ups and downs of Destiny 1 and 2 on various accounts, have done almost all of the most challenging content, both solo and in a team, and have been a clan admin for quite a while. I will not be invited to attend the summit. I am not upset about this fact. No one else really should be either. So no, streamers don't really represent the community. Neither do you or I. But what streamers can do is get exposed to more direct feedback from followers, and communicate that to Bungie. And Bungie can communicate things to them, and then they can disperse that out to a wide audience. It's in no way perfect, but it certainly is efficient. And where studio money is concerned, that's generally priority number 1. Edit: for clarity, the point of this post is in no way self-promotion. It's a challenge to stop stating the problem over and over again, and start posting some real, actual workable solutions instead. Until you do that, you yourself are part of the problem.

                • The people saying 'streamers do not represent' have significantly less valid and useful ideas, much as people posting on forums do. You don't deserve to be flown out to the studios just to say 'man this game sucks guys, fix it and give us back D1'. that helps 0 people. Streamers on the other hand have their chat bombarded with not only the same problems that get spammed here on the forums, but also see some extremely good ideas and feedback from actually useful members of the community. They far and away represent the community more than you do because they see more of a cross section slice of the community than you do. simple :)

                  • You got to look at it from Bungie’s perspective, for example they are sitting at the table inviting people and the topic of pvp comes up, they are thinking of who to invite. Do they invite the random on forums crying for nf nerf or the best pvp player who can look at both sides. Then they look at the raid, who should we invite someone who hasn’t played a raid before and doesn’t have the time or the best raider in the community. Like it’s common sense who would you invite.

They dont? They have tons of people watching them then, why? Because they disagree with their views and ideas? Many of the guys invited to these things actually ask their communities what feedback they want them to bring. They are just people who play the game too, why is their feedback less important to guys who hardly play? Some of you hate these people for no good reason and acting as if they have no good feedback and don't want the game to get better is kind of selfish on your part. What feedback would you give? Like REAL feedback. Not this "fix your game" and "Bungie you suck" stuff. Because you have the opportunity to tell Bungie your ideas and suggestionss anytime you feel like it. You can do it right this second if you want. You could have done it in this post even.

                      • What is your solution to bungie speaking with the community? Should they bring you out? Why would they? Who are you and what are your credentials? Oh they don't know you and what they do know about you is complaining without a realistic solution asking for upvotes and YOU or players like YOU should not represent the majority.
