Do away with the master core to infuse weapons/armor.

Congrats Bungie! Happy to hear you took over. Now please do away with the master core to infuse weapons. I cant master work anything because I always have to use them to infuse my items. The game is great and the grind is real. But I'm sure we can do with out that!

  • Upvote. Cozmo said it was being addressed but there’s still radio silence on their end. They just need to be removed from infusion plain and simple.

    • There is absolutely no reason why the simple act of Infusion should require FOUR SEPARATE CURRENCIES to accomplish, including one that is prohibitively rare. It is not meaningful, it is hobbling. Cores for Infusion needs to go.

    • Yeah I’m not sure why this request has lost steam but it needs to happen. Since d1 I have always had 3 max characters. These days it’s just too painful to even go through the effort (pretty much like everything in this game, what’s fun?).

    • The only thing that needs changing is the amount of cores used to infuse. if changed to just one then this would not been an issue

    • Bunch of casuals. You want things to go back to everything handed to you. Whats the fun in that? Everytime I infuse something to get a higher level or masterwork something I feel a good sense of accomplishment. I earned it from the grind. And it's not hard to get cores. Play the game and you'll get many cores. Enough to level up your character at a reasonable pace. Maybe not upgrading everything you want all at the same time but that's the idea behind a good grind game. Youll eventually get there. Allocate your resources well and be patient. Just keep playing and stop complaining. Don't listen to the casuals Bungie. Keep it the way it is.

        • I mean, with Glimmer, and the shards... Might be more ideal with fusing exotics with the infusion cores. Make the cores required for exotics rather. But also make them easier to obtain from Tess from the Eververse. Anything below exotic it's just a bit of glimmer and some shards, that's about it.

          • I think core issue could be resolved very easily. Refund full cost of cores when you dismantling an item. Irrelevant, whether it is an item you personally made or one that is dropped. Not single core - all of them. If it takes 15 of them to fully modify an item - then give 15. Or, when infusing, automatically buff to highest of the two levels, irrelevant to whether dismantled item is masterwork or not. If it is - then item you modify with it becomes masterwork. It will save a metric heckton of hassle and will allow gamers to actively infuse/modify AND enjoy the process rather than hunt for those pesky cores and be irritated and frustrated either because they need cores, but Spider's incremental cost not allow you to get "last one", or because they all thinking whether or not they'll get better perks. I had over a hundred of them, but buffing my main arsenal took them all, now I have like dozen and should I get an item I would want to keep - I have nothing to boost it with. And I play quite a lot, so people who play less should have even less cores than I do. Why take away enjoyment from entertainment - is beyond me. It's like there is somewhere a department, responsible for "making game worse".

            • Then how about you use the gear you are given then focus on masterworking the weapon you need then infuse the gear you want later.

Can we finally stop asking for this? Please? It's super easy to get enough to do an infusion when you need to...at most, you'll be waiting till tomorrow for one. Stop trying to infuse and masterwork every weapon and armor piece you have, and it's really not an issue. Hell, I generally get 3-4 in an hour or two, just from sharding legendaires that I don't like the roll of. So, I guess my question is, really, who is this still an issue for? Can you not spend 30 shards at spider, or do a few bounties that are generally easy? Do you never get cores in loot sharding? How damned many things are you trying to infuse / masterwork at once? If you infuse and MW smart, this is really not an issue for most people any more. Just stop trying to collect a maxed set of every armor, get one set that looks good and works for you, and infuse weapons in order of importance...most people use 4-10 regularly. If you're only infusing with powerful drops (which not doing so is generally wasting cores), you should stay even or build a small stock up. Play smart, not hard.

                    • Most people I know only ever buy the cores from spider at a maximum of three at a time per daily reset, because they just get to expensive.... Why not just make cores cost 25 legendary shards all the time? I'm more likely to burn through my currency that way as it's clear that's the goal

I totally agree. I am more casual of a player in D2 than I ever was in D1, and that is for two reasons: 1) I'm a lot busier nowadays with life than I was back then. 2) I find D2 way more boring than D1 ever was. I haven't used any of my favorite gear since forsaken came out due to the masterwork core /infusion core dilemma. I stored up at least 50 cores prior to forsaken and they disappeared faster than I could find a new perfect gear set. I can't even enjoy the good gear I am getting because it's level is too low and I can't keep or find enough cores to do this on a regular basis. I have no problem with using materials to infuse. I am a D1 vet from back when planetary mats were a pain to grind, but honestly, I'd take that again over the RNG of enhancement cores dropping. It really is a stupid material to farm for, I feel unless it's used to make an item a masterwork. I've been using random drop gear since forsaken launch just to build up my enhancement core stock to use at some point. It's made me not want to play cause I can't enjoy the gear I want to use, and I'm forced to look like a disfigured guardian because I have mismatched gear that I can't really customize in a game where I've always been able to do just that! If we have to continue to use unwanted gear just to have higher levels then I'm done playing because that defeats the point of using exotics ( oh that's another topic...the horrible exotic drop rate) and it really defeats the entire purpose for Bungie returning random roles to us because we can't use a good random rolled gun if we can't infuse it because we don't have enough infusion cores! (sigh) I just can't understand why Bungie messed with the infusion system in the first place. By the end of D1 when Rise of Iron came out, they had the infusion system perfect! There was no need to fix it! They could have used that effort to fix other things, but instead, they messed with it yet again, like they do every expansion or new release! Bungie, hear my plea...go back to end of D1 infusion and don't touch that factor of the game ever again! use your talent to fix all the other areas of the game! PLEASE!

*Insert people with better luck with RNG excusing Bungie from not noticing the trending topic everyday for months on the forums* I have no problem with Enhancement Cores since I have alot of spare time to play, yet, I am not going to tell you your experience is somehow not different than mine with different factors. It’s evident the “if you can’t stand being excluded for not having Gjallarhorn then get Gjallarhorn yourself (because my words will make it drop now)” crowd is still playing Destiny. News flash: Even the “solution” for casual players of farming Tangled Shore then waiting around for an enemy to spawn for a Spider bounty when you don’t have enough time to get Enhancement Cores in general is counterproductive too. Hardcore players need to realize that without casual players, this game would stop being produced. Casual players feedback on what affects them is vital. Bungie needs to realize when you have very little time to play, Spider bounties and Enhancement Core farming is not as fun as games like Red Dead 2 instead. It’s Exotic Cores, without the guarantee with dismantle.

                            • Still say glimmer should be a steady means of progression. Also say there should be a power advantage for being over leveled that caps out just like the disadvantage. Make that a master core thing if anything. Though I'm told a power advantage already exists, but I sure as hell haven't noticed.

                            • Here is my idea: 1) Infusion/Enhancement Cores are constantly requested as something that should be removed from the Infusion process since they really serve no purpose in upgrading weapons. I get that technically you are infusing an item into another, but the outcome is only to raise the base level of the weapon that you infuse and no other perks are changed or mirrored. That is why they changed the name to Enhancement Cores, but they should be reverted back to Infusion Cores and given a new role. 2) Many players also request that they want to use their Y1 gear and have Y1 gear make use of the new perks and traits structure of Y2 gear. My idea is that Cores are removed from their current role and re-assigned to a role that is implied in its previous original name and purpose “Infusion”, but specifically for infusing a Y2 item into a Y1 item to mirror all of that items perks and traits into the Y1 item. Let’s say that you get a Y2 Helmet drop that has a respectable roll, but you are not going to equip it because you don’t like the look of it, but you have an older Y1 helmet that was one of your favorites. Well instead of just dismantling the Y2 helmet you could infuse that Y2 helmet into the Y1 helmet and the Y1 helmet will than have all of the perks and traits of the Y2 helmet along with its power level. With this system the Infusion Cores will actually fit an intended role and allow players to use any Y1 gear that they acquired and its fine if Cores become an even less dropped or rare item since they will not be required for anything but reusing old gear. Some guidelines for this proposed system are: -You must have an Infusion Core in your Inventory. -The process can only be utilized one time on any piece of Y1 gear, so choose sensibly. -You need to infuse corresponding items. (Helmet for Helmet, Hand Cannon for Hand Cannon, Scout Rifle for Scout Rifle and so on) -Cannot be used on Exotics (maybe down the road, but let’s get started first) -I am fine with the process also requiring a sensible amount of planetary resources and some Glimmer. Well that’s my idea what are your thoughts, comments and suggestions?
