Is Destiny 2 finally on its last leg?
Destiny 2, the game that everyone waited for, broke servers when it released for the first time! That’s about all it did in the first year it came out.
As a dedicated player and fan of the game from day 1 of D1 I stuck through most of everything. Even the historical population drop the game had just 4 months after release. Yes I took my small hiatuses here and there to dabble with other games, but always came back to goof around with my fellow guardians.
September 4, 2018 is a day all hardcore Destiny enthusiasts will remember. The release of a golden age expansion, and the death of a dear friend. This expansion was glorious! From all the hidden secrets in the dreaming city, to the obvious difficulty level of the new raid. We felt like we had it all!
Alas it is 3.5 months since Forsaken dropped and I feel the excitement of Destiny 2 has dwindled. Population numbers are back down to what it was before Forsaken dropped, year over year sales numbers are down 63%, I’m having difficulty wanting to pick up my controller and play, and none of this I believe is anything Destiny did wrong this time. Yes I do believe this stems from the annoyance of playing a game for a whole year that had no content or sustainability, but honestly they are doing everything right now (barring the small annoyances here and there; I’m talking to you useless scout rifle class).
I believe Bungie is going to have to put A LOT of effort into Destiny 3. I know this is going to be an oxymoron, but they need to make the same game completely different. Keep the Destiny mechanics, but bring more MMO into the game. Make currency useful, bring market areas where people can sell and trade, PvP areas where the trolls can hang out (that’s a joke to all of you PvP or die players that just got offended lol), make planet areas huge again instead of these IO/Titan/Mercury/Mars embarrassments, and most importantly make being Guardians feel like an accomplishment again!

1 ReplyAfter the bait and switch that Forsaken was (catering to streamers and tryhard no-life gamers), I'm DONE with BUNGIE and the Destiny franchise. There are too many other great games out there that don't require grinding my life away playing a single video game.

Been thinking - yeah, rare event, I know. But, as well as my own opinion, one can get a few tof thoughts from the Forum, although there are not many on the forum these days. Funny that! No players = no forum. But, I think the general trend when D2 came out was... 1. The weapon slots were changed for no reason. The Forum ridiculed it. Nothing was fixed. No one mentions it now - they've given up. 2. The Mod system was introduced for no reason. The Forum ridiculed it. Nothing was fixed. No one mentions it now - they've given up. 3. Random Rolls were removed for no reason. The Forum ridiculed it. Eventually it was changed [i]almost [/i]back to what it was. 4. Machine Guns were removed for no reason. The Forum ridiculed it. Eventually it was changed [i]almost [/i]back to what it was. 5. Masterwork Cores were changed so that everything needs a core or two - or three. Even a player needing to fart in the lounge chair, needed a Core to do it. The Forum ridiculed it. Still does! Eventually it was changed. They changed the name! Brilliant! 6. Shaders were changed into currency, and Lordy, Lordy, is that a good thing, because most are drawn by people with Color Blindness. Now they can be deleted in bulk! If that's not an admission of failure I dunno what is. 7. Bangles and beads were accentuated, as if they meant something. Remember running around for hours looking for those musical diamond thingys on Mars? And the reward? An Emblem! FFS! An Emblem that showed nothing, did nothing, and was either deleted or never used. 8. Lotsa players asked for separation between PvE and PvP. I dunno what the for and against ratio was. No one does. Bungie might. There was hinting from Bungie that there would be more separation, but that turned out to be bullshit, or just a lie. It's more combined than ever! Note none of these were ever, ever asked for in the Forums. There's heaps more, but I'm so jaded about the whole thing, that I really don't care anymore. I find it more interesting to see what they bugger up, than what they fix. Morbid as that may be. That's why the game is dying. The game doesn't write itself. Developers write it. And reading the TWABs from week to week, shows a desperation to convince everyone - anyone - that players are having fun! The hype is actually painful to read.

4 RepliesThey are missing the point of the game, if you play 5hrs a week or 50hrs, The pull is I want ti have fun and hope I drop some sweet gear. When they start putting weapons (the best in the game) behind stupid long quests it's only natural that people are going ti say well i'm never getting that and probably think about something else that they can enjoy. How ever much time you play destiny you should feel like it is worth doing to try for that sweet loot and Bungie cannot see that.

RnG should be removed completely from D3. Every exotic should have a quest. Armr/Weapons/Ghost/Ships/Sparrows. PvP should either be removed or....a fixed set of weapons/armor can be used. PvE/PvP needs to be kept separate. Don't need anymore of my fave PvE weapons nerfed because of the PvP snowflakes. I could go on and on but I like my breath so....everyone have a greater day!

Curse was it tripping, Warmind was it falling Forsaken was it breaking the fall with its hands and getting ready to bounce back. 19 RepliesNah numbers wise it's doing better than it has in quite some time. Which is unfortunate. I really want this game to die. Not because I hate destiny. But it needs to get rebuilt from the ground up. Yeah random rolls are great, yeah a higher exotic drop rate would be wonderful. But stuff like that isn't what's really plaguing not just destiny 2, but this entire franchise. And frankly the community is blinded by the little things to notice

1 ReplyDestiny 1 and Destiny 2 are pretty much the same. A lot of back and forth between PVE and PVP to and from the vendors. Since D2 does this, like D1 did; it is probably safe to assume that D3 will be the same. Destiny is a repetitive grind of a game and sometimes feels more like running errands than playing a game.

I’m actually going back to D1 this week since I saw a lot of people are going back and say it’s just way more fun! The population for D1 is about the same as D2 right now!
