All you people make me laugh. Really you think anthem is gonna kill this game? A Ea developed game is gonna beat out Bungie? Yeah you think them slowing down exp was bad on destiny wait till you see what they try to do in Anthem. It’s a story game which the story will be good because the people that make mass effect are doing it (not the ones that did that last disgrace andromeda). But I’ve Played Battlefront 2 awful microtransactions, Mass Effect Andromeda rushed piece of shit that tried to put shitty pvp in, Madden 19 which they wanted to you pay for coins so bad you can’t quicksell cards, and many more instances. Anthem is just like a certain other game that came out in destiny 1 they said was gonna kill the game and it lasted for about 1-2 weeks and the player base dropped 75% and destiny was back to the norm. So play anthem say how good it is but you will be back I promise.
Edit:I do believe destiny needs competition because it’s the only way they feel motivated to give us more but the only game I can really see doing it without screwing over played is Borderlands 3 but we have no release date. Division 2 might be better since they maybe put more effort into it after the first one but don’t shit on this game and hate it if you’ve played it and have so much time spent in it. It shows that you’ve had fun on this game. This game can be better and we should expect it to.

1 ReplyBungie has to replace some employees who make important decisions. Otherwise so many wrong decisions results to the end of this game for the normal players and with them also for the streamers. it is very likely that Anthem and especially the division2 won't do these mistakes which Bungie made d2 y1 and mainly now, to sell nearly nothing in a dlc for a lot of money
-
You’re right, no other game is going to kill destiny, bungie is Destiny 2 is better than it was at launch, but it’s still an empty shell of what destiny 1 was year 3. I don’t think a lot of people are coming back. And of those that still play, more are lost every day - the future of this franchise is going to greatly depend on a 3rd installment. If that takes too long to come out, or bungie continues on their roller coaster of not knowing which crowd to please, destiny will become a barren wasteland of fanboys still crying “destiny isn’t dead!”

bungie is doing a good job killing it themselves, don't ya think?

108 RepliesDisagree. 1. As a hardcore Destiny player I don't want Destiny 2 to die. I want Bungie to learn from their mistakes. To stop FIGHTING the identity of the game they created, and stop STUBBORNLY ignoring the wishes of their average player. 2. I want them to do this because there are games coming out from more nimble developers that are positioning themselves to make a serious play for Destiny 2's PVE player base. So the ability for Bungie to take this game out into the wilderness, and bring it back safely is going away. 3. The Division 2 is coming out...and Massive took DIRECT aim at Bungie and their fiasco with vanilla D2. Stating "We are taking ALL the things we learned with the first game and putting it into the new game." Smack. 4. Mass Effect: Andromeda was the "rushed piece of shit" that IT was, for two reasons. One. Bioware was cannibalizing resource from ME: A to use in the development of ANTHEM. Two. It got pushed out the door before it was ready, because of point One. Bioware is taking direct aim at Bungie and Destiny by learning HARD into the games loot-based RPG identity....rather than fighting it as Bungie has. Bioware is also developing a uniques kind of story telling that may allow them to tell a better story with Anthem than Bungie can do with the design choices it made with Destiny. Bioware is also NOT HAVING PVP. Which frees them up to lean HARD into the power-fantasy of the game. Without having to worry about powerful gear "breaking" competitive multiplayer.....and the game's loot constantly getting nerfed. 5. Both games are coming out on modern game engines that were deisign specifically for the current generation of gaming hardware. Snowflake for The Division 2. Frostbite for Anthem.....and let me tell you, Bungie can't take either of these games for granted. Snowflake is very powerful....but Massive was so inexperienced at making shooter games and loot-based RPGs...that they were never really able to fully leverage what that engine could do. Early game footage is showing a very differently looking, surprisingly polished game. Showing LIVE footage, which you almost never see from an Ubisoft published game this far out from release. Frostbite is just a beast. As someone who played---and enjoyed----ME: A. The combat in that game was very smooth...and very satisfying....and Bioware appears to be kicking that up a notch for Anthem. The in-game footage looks IMPRESSIVE. Word of mouth from people who have played builds of the game at conferences is also impressive.... ...and with flying and the ability to hover-and-fight...Anthem is looking to give a game play experience that you can't get anywhere else. TLDR: Destiny 2 isn't going anywhere. But the days of it not having any real competition in the marketplace are coming to an end....and Bungie needs to step up their game...and stop breaking their own game with stubborn notions of how it "should" be played that have nothing to do with how it is actually being played by people who love it.

2 RepliesNo game is going to kill Destiny, because Bungie is intent on killing it themselves.
-
1 ReplyPeople have been saying X will kill Destiny since the game dropped. Hasn’t happened, and never will. Destiny holds a special place in its players hearts. Sure, it’s not perfect, but it IS fun. Plus the lore alone is fantastic!!
-
We play this game because we like the game that the devs made. Doesn’t mean we like the devs.

Edited by CatMan: 12/23/2018 9:56:22 AMDefinitely won't die to anthem. Never.... absolutely not....no....it...will..... Survive....yep...won't die to anthem....can't be trumped....unkillable... destiny....2….........can t die to anthem.....ever.....at...all....won't.....die... to... anthem...

It wont kill it, but other games will be fighting for interest. lm sure the Anthem developers have (I hope so) been following Destiny and will avoid potential pitfalls. Plus Anthem is only PvE so no balancing or nerfing of guns between PvE and PvP. Whic means you might actually feel like a wreckball of death. Plus, youre in a kick ass ironman suit and can fly!

1 ReplyThe way I see it, the only thing that will destroy destiny will be a epic pve shooter, AND an epic pvp shooter being released at the same time! That being said most of us still here will probably remain through thick and thin! The one huge possitive about this game is that you can mindlessly play with friends, have fun and chat shit without affecting the game experience too much (varying team sizes are a wind up though)! That doesn't really happen too often in other games, for example: The division was dull to play solo, and co-op was kinda 'serious mode'; you would lose much of the experience whilst being sociable, so not a lot of fun either! ...but that game just wasn't for me; far too restrictive IMO! I probably wouldn't have got d2 but for the early release info which appealed to me; certainly the guided games looked like a fantastic addition to where d1 left off, but we all know how that turned out. And here I am with my 'must collect all' OCD, playing a game where I can't collect everything... because that's what I like to do! Madness!! Since playing the two destiny games I'd summarise it as this: D1 - after receiving an epic drop "OMG -blam!- YEAH" D2 - after receiving an epic drop "Finally!! I'm never doing that strike again!!! D3 (probably) - all drops "so what's the roll on this edge transit?"

Ill be switching to Anthem once it drops and deleting all of destiny from my system. I do agree on Borderlands 3 when it comes out in fall of 2019

2 RepliesEdited by ghostx78x: 12/21/2018 5:30:46 PMI play everyday and the rewards just are not coming in. I’m not getting anything from the new raid after 6 clears except a few pieces of armor. I have 36 chests opened without a glittering key in Last Wish raid. I haven’t gotten a god roll legendary or a curated roll in 2 weeks. I mean you really can’t defend the reward system right now. You can grind all you want and still not get anything after months of trying. I can only do shattered throne a few tries a month but the ship never drops. Do you really blame people for desperately wanting an awesome game to play. Of course they hope Anthem will be good because this game does not reward your time. I guarantee Division 2 is going to take a lot more destiny players than Anthem. Either way Destiny is not in good shape rn. I just read an article that states the numbers are back to pre-Forsaken numbers. I honestly love Destiny but right now I feel like there is no point in doing anything because I never get rewards I can use- and I don’t have A LOT of things. Everything is just dismantled- even with a new forge and a new raid I don’t get anything. I’ve forged like 25 weapons. They really just need to take a step back from this whole reward system and give it some love. I like the random rolls and rare exotics but if you grind for something for 3 months religiously and still don’t have it, the system sucks.

Destiny is a weekly game so people will come back.
-
Been reading posts about how, INSERT RANDOM GAME HERE will "kill" Destiny since the first D1 update. I have never understood the need for these posts. OK we get it. For whatever reason you are unhappy playing Destiny. Move on, let it go, stop playing Destiny and never look back. Why waste all the time and energy on these posts. Especially because the games everyone says are.going to be the death kneel of Destiny HAVE NOT EVEN COME.OUT YET. Ride the hype much? Meh.

Ofc it ain’t dying. Humans are stupid by nature.
-
15 RepliesI dont know why you think Bungie is so great. Destiny 2 is the most piss poor example of a hybrid mmo/ loot shooter that ever could have been conceived! Step back and let Bioware show you how it's suppose to be done son.
-
5 RepliesEdited by epoch5555: 12/22/2018 1:29:58 PMAnthem may not kill Destiny but it will sure make a he** of a gouge in it. I for one can't wait till Anthem comes out. Just read the Anthem forums, they plainly tell you that they have learned a lot from Destiny's mistakes and Destiny's mistakes are legion.
-
1 ReplyIt won’t kill D2, but it will take a lot a players away, some permanently if it’s any good. If Anthem hits the mark and the game does what they say it will, I’m gone, no doubt. It’s sad and some are blind to it, but Bungie is milking is with artificial difficulty, wake up!
-
I still remeber all the posts saying Division would kill Destiny lol. That didn't work out out too well. I don't see why people are getting so hyped over Anthem. The gameplay looks fine, but they have really shown that much. I feel like it'll turn out like Vanilla D1 with very little substance. It's EA anyway...

Edited by ebonstormmc: 12/22/2018 10:39:38 AMWhile this wall of words did in fact kill my diminutive phone screen, valid points were made. Game on game... err... gameocide (yes that’s a word because I just invented it) is a rare occurrence. Most games that die simply fizzle out, or they implode from within. It’s rarely the dreaded death everyone always threatens: “DEATH BY THE GREATNESS OF OTHER GAMES!!!” So yes, I approve this message. Cool story bro.
-
I always come back after new games.
-
People move on, there will always be new games. Player base has fallen from D1 days and unless things improve it will continue to fall. There will always be small hardcore player base (people still play Mario!)
-
I want Bungie to do well and if Anthem does very well Destiny is in trouble especially with the next DLC not having any raid content and they'll most likely put old content mixed in with new like they've done with the forges. Pretty lazy game design. So yes, I hope Anthem does well and Bungie should be worried.
