The quest was removed on the 27th. If you had not claimed the weapon by that day you will have to wait for it via RNG exotic engrams.

Thank you for your reply! I had finished the quest. I am wondering why the engram that I earned just disappeared instead of going to my character inventory, vault, or my postmaster? For it to just disappear and become completely unavailable makes zero sense.

You did not finish the quest though. The quest finishes with the turn in of the engram. Since you did not turn it in before the end the quest was removed. No part of the quest carried over including the turn in.
